Hi

A little info please is required from all you seasoned WDW goers.

My DW and I are visiting WDW for the first time this September for two weeks, not sure how much cash we should be expecting to spend.

We will be buying breakfast / lunch / dinner / drinks through the day etc.

So really I'm after an idea of how much meals etc. cost.

Any help, as ever, would be appreciated.

Thanx

We take about £1500 ($2500) for just over 2 weeks, and for 2 adults and 2 kids, eating out twice a day (counter service lunch, restaurant dinner) and the odd breakfast, we have enough.

When I went in June with a friend (no kids) we spent about $500 each over 6 days, though we were doing the bars and clubs in the evenings, which we don't when there with the kids.

I take about 50:50 cash/travellers cheques.

I wouldn't worry about not having enough, as long as you have a credit card or two to hand, as everywhere will accept them.

Last time we took about £2000 in $ travellers cheques and cash, a friend told me to budget £100 per day for 3 of us including 13 year old, just for food. This was way too much.

We stayed WDW property and spent no way near that and I spent a fortune in the Christmas shop, plus we had a day out at Seaworld.

Next time for 3 of us we will take about £1000 in TQ`s and cash the rest will go on the card.

We lost about £50 converting unused dollars back to sterling.

Have a great time.

We normally budget £100/day, however that allows us to do a couple of character meals that are more expensive than you would otherwise spend (approx $50 for b/fast for me, DH & DD) as well as most souvenirs etc. I usually take cheques for our shopping at the malls etc. & cash for everything else. I always have CC handy, but am never concerned if I have dollars left as we always plan on returning!!! Money is such a personal thing & depends on how many there are of you, what you need to buy etc. You could spend $50 on b/fast or less than $10 at McDonalds!!! Unless you're on-site or an AP holder, don't forget to factor in parking charges. If you know roughly which restaurants you want to eat in, you can work out a rough price guide so you know a rough minimum you will need using this & Deb's site.

im exactly the same. going on the 13th here. i have no idea how much money to take. you can put things on your room bill. i might just do that save me taking loads of cash. there are 4 of us 2 adults 2 children under 9. we plan on eating at a few expencive places and a few cheaper ones too and maybe off site. were going to seaworld 1 day but the rest we will spend in wdw.
any tips for me please?

It really depends on how you like to eat ( and maybe more importantly drink). The US in general is expensive for wine and WDW in particular is expensive for alcohol. A decent bottle of wine is going to set you back $30-40 . A beer is about $4.

Do you have kids? or just the 2 of you?

If you have a car eating off site is about 60-70% of the cost of eating on Disney for the same type of meal.

This is for a family of four (rough costs)

Fast food (burgers etc)
On site $35-40 off site $20

lower end table service
On site $ 65-75 off site (Denny's or Olive Garden) $45-50

medium end table service
On Site $100-120 off site $65-80

High end
On Site (Vic and Alberts, Citricos, Flying fish etc) $150-200+
Off site $120-150

Obviously if you go loopy on the wine front ( at the higher end restaurants) you can blow those ideas right out the water.

Soft drinks can really mount up throughout the day at $3-4 a go. We quite often just get one between us and ask for no ice in it. REasons in no particular order. It's cold when they serve it, the ice makes up more than 50% of the volume, when the ice melts it tastes rank and you don't have to carry the bloody cup around with you for ages. If you would have 5 drinks a day (each) you can save up to $20 a day, which seeing as it's $20 your spending on ice , that's expensive ice.
