How much cash do you have on hand during your trip to WDW?

We were in WDW last month and I did not spend one penny of cash in the parks. We had cash for tipping at the hotel and pennies and quarters for pressing, but we did not use any other cash during our trip. Magic bands/cc for everything.

Probably less than $100. We use credit cards for almost everything to rack up miles/points. We typically stay in a timeshare (DVC), rent a car, and can take out extra cash at the Target/Walmart if needed.

Leaving today, and I have $52. I will probably spend almost none of it. We use magic bands for everything.

DH always has us carry $100 each. He will typically use some of his for cash tips like bell services or valets if we have a car. I usually use zero.

We charge everything in daily life for the reward points and travel is no different.

We bring around $1200-$1500 which includes the Disney Visa money and any gift cards I have. We don't do the dining plan and we avoid adding anymore money to our CC. And we end up coming home with a some spare change!

I take whatever happens to be in my wallet before I leave home. I never get "extra" cash for a Disney trip.

For just having money on hand, we usually take about $400 for our family of 4 for a week. A long weekend of 4 days, probably $250. If I'm making a purchase under $5, I usually use cash, so an extra bottle of water or a single Mickey bar gets bought with cash.

I always bring a couple hundred in cash. My husband is kind of a nut about not leaving the house without some cash.

I don't like to use the credit card either, so bring cash to pay for everything, and by that I mean cocktails.

That amount would be below my comfort level for travel. I don't even leave my house with so little in my wallet!

We usually bring a combination of funds.
  • I bring anywhere between $200-$300 with me, depending on how long I'll be away and who I'm traveling with.
  • I have a CapitalOne360 checking account that I rarely use. I add a small amount of money to it and bring the debit card so that if I need more cash, I can get it that way.
  • I'll have at least one Disney GC with me and access to more through my account on the disneygiftcard website.
  • And I'll also have 2 different CCs with me to cover any emergency spending that might arise.

Of that $52, I came back with $23.50. That $52 was not all I had, I had an ATM card, and 2 different credit cards.

It's a good idea for each adult to keep a $20.00 folded in their wallet in case a cab is needed while at Disney.

We usually take a few hundred and usually come home with it. We pay everything via bands except for the Downtown Disney shops that don't take the magic bands.

I think that's great if you are comfortable with so little cash in your wallet. As I stated previously, I don't leave my house with so little money on me, let alone go on a vacation where I might find myself in a situation where only cash will be accepted. It's all about comfort levels and mine is a lot higher than yours.

I put everything I can on credit (rewards) and carry a total of about $60 cash and a lot of that usually comes home with me.

I haven't been to Discovery Cove, but I have done trips to WDW and to US/IOA.

Generally, I keep some change and about $20 on me each day.

We leave tomorrow morning!!! We purchased Disney gift cards at BJs and have our magic bands for purchasing in the parks. I have Mousekeeping envelopes all set up with cash.

We are spending 3 days at Universal Studios and 1 day at Discover Cove as well.

How much *cash* should I be carrying? I'm sure I'll need it for some things!??! What's your best advice?

Have almost never used cash in the past, but usually have between $5-10 with me each day - charge everything to MB's - not sure about other parks - never go there.

It's interesting to see how different people handle cash. I haven't had any cash in weeks. I can't imagine a situation where I wouldn't be within striking distance of an ATM, or couldn't use a credit/debit card. My MIL is a lot like you, and is uncomfortable with less than $100 on her, even though she rarely touches it.

We had very little cash. I had the $40 already divided in housekeeping envelopes ($5/night). Then we had about another $100...at least 20 in dollar bills. We also had a roll of quarters for tolls/laundry. Other than tipping valet (we had TiW so got free valet at some places) and the tolls, we didn't need cash. Everything else could have been charged.
