hi there, on our last 3 trips, we have carried a small amount of cash, a small of amount of travellers cheques, and mainly used mastercard...i put a large sum on it before we left...i use my mastercard for everything...in the last 4years, i have bought my tickets in to the parks with my airmiles i collected...so close to a 3000 dollar benefit for me...
...the trick with visa/mastercard is to always pay it off in full each month so no interest charges of course...if we were to lose it, it would be easy to cancel and get a new one so my trip wouldnt be ruined, plus it for me i have my travellers/health insurance thru it, plus it doubles almost ALL warrenties on everything(and if you lose or have something stolen, it will also cover this-but never have never needed to use it myself)...there are many benefits for using credit cards, but for me, it comes down to convienance and peace of mind...have an awesome trip
