How much better is GF than SSR?

As my DD said, we feel like we would have to dress to cross the lobby. While VGF may be glorious, SSR is no joke. I personally would recommend SSR for a family with young children over VGF.

My feelings exactly. I was uncomfortable touring the place. My working class garb and demeanor definitely doesn't fit well there. The rooms are nice though. On vacation I want to be relaxed. SSR worked for me because it fills a number of needs for us. Reasonable price, close to DTD for goofing off when not in parks and a Golf Course.

I would not compare SSR to VGF. They are two separate experiences. We own at SSR for our own reasons (mostly to do with what my wife and I want to do when the kids move out, DTD,golf and spa, and not deep in WDW properties) and at the time SSR THV having the same points as 2 BR SSR (as we are a family of 5).

That being said we booked a week at a VGF studio and enjoyed our stay immensely and would go back again. We did a studio to save on points and to eat out every day (which we never do on our WDW vacations) since the location afforded an opportunity to do so. Only complaint was that Counter service was too far away. Best service ever and the kids loved it. Amenities and the room were fantastic and I would have expected nothing less. The concierge also recommended a room (since it was ready immediately) that was different from the one I requested that turned out to be one of the best in the resort IMO (1318).

If you have the points and want a near luxury experience at one of the best locations on property I say go for it. You will not be disappointed (and if you are let concierge know and they will do their best to solve any problems)

VGF golf is near by and the senses spa is across from the front door. Next time try the burgers from the pool bar next door they are surprising good.

I don't mind walking around at VGF or SSR, plenty to see, love the green, flowers, and water.

The grand Floridian makes Saratoga Springs look like a joke. It's a completely different level of vacation- monorail access, a beach, fine dining, glorious surroundings, extreme convenience to just about anywhere you want to go.

Comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges. The are completely different resorts with different themes. i just got back from SSR this week and had another grand time there. The resort is well keep and the rooms are in great shape for being 6 yrs old. The proximity to DDD is the key reason for me to stay at this resort. I leave for GF on 5 Mar so i am sure it will be plush and completely different than my SSR stay.

I agree the to all of the above, the food is very good at the pool. However at the time we were there first week of April 2014, it had limited hours and one had to go all the way to the the CS on the other side of the resort for anything. That was a big annoyance for us in the morning and evening when the pool bar was not open.

GFV - we plan on doing a studio for our family
Yes we do not dress fancy - but hey we are on vacation and our clothes will be fine.
Shorts are shorts, shirts are shirts, and sneakers are sneakers - I do not need "labels" to make me feel welcome at the GFV.

So if someone wants to wear designer clothes at WDW and wear espadrilles, so be it.
I will be more comfy in my clothes. :laundy:
