My sister and I decided to take my niece for her 5th birthday (January 2010). We also decided that this will be called the "SPOIL HER ROTTEN TRIP" basically it means we have to start saving now:yay:

I'm one of the few votes for $1000-2000. We'll spend right at $2000 for our upcoming trip. We're going during free dining, staying at CSR, for 7 nights. Total: $1391. I bought tickets for MNSSHP, $150. We already have our seasonal passes, which will expire partway through our trip, so no ticketing expense. I have $60 in Disney rewards dollars, which will be enough to buy whatever extra food I need for our 2-yr-old. We drive about 350 miles and it will take about $150 in gas and food on the road. We go often, so we won't be loading up on souvenirs.

We do plan to head to Sea World one day - free tickets for military families, so we'll just have to pay parking and lunch.

All in all, I think Disney is a very affordable vacation spot for us because we live fairly close by and when we have the seasonal AP's, it really is reasonable. With the trip we took last Sept, the adults-only weekend in January, and this trip, we'll have used our SAP's for 13 days and the daily ticket expense will average to $17/day.

Just the two of us, but usually for each week we are on vacation, about $5,500 - $6,000.

Coming from the UK it's pretty much impossible to keep it under $5k for a 2 week trip when spending money is factored in, even for the cheapest accomodation/flights/food options.

So true!

We save like crazy, and budget $2000 or so for a normal family vacation. This is the "blowout" for us.

$2700 for 2 adults & 2 teens 6 nights POFQ with DDP and 7 day PH&WP passes
$150 (estimated) 3 nights stay on the road in motels
$100 1x buffet dinner & breakfast before check in at POFQ
$50 Fast food on the screamin drive home
??? Gas for trip. I'm annoyed by the gas prices so I'm just ignoring this.
??? Tips

I assume that our round trip transport including food & hotel will be about $1000, so I think our total will be close to $4000.

The kids each have $100 in birthday money, they make their own decisions as to what they get. They are good about not doing the "gimme" thing, when we were at the fair a few days ago, I told them it would be $45 for us all to get the armband to ride all night, and they looked around and said, "that's a lot of money, and we're going to disneyworld in a few weeks!" so we didn't get the arm band. I was proud of them.

I have a rule "when we are in an amusement park, we don't do the things that cost extra" and I always have snacks for them.

I was wondering what other families feel is a reasonable amount to spend on your vacation to WDW.
Now that we have a child our vacation ways and budget are changing. So I'd love to hear what a family of 3-4 (or more) are willing to spend on their vacation to Disney. Including everything.

We generally would spend between 3-4K on a WDW vacation but we usually budget for $5K We're dvc owners so no lodging cost (in the tradional sense) to factor in.

We're generally not budget travelers when on vacation though (probably because in rl we're always watching our pennies). We don't decide on restuarants and such based on price, I'm not carrying snacks into the parks and we like to try the tours and cruises.

Free Dinning is exactly what it implies. You are on the DDP for free.
You will pay for tips though as they are no longer included as they use to be but the food is free. Normally the plan cost $39.99 for 9 and up and 10.99 for children 3-9 but sometime in April so the last few years Disney has been offereing free dinning for mid Aug- the end of Sept, their slow season.
To get it all you have to do is watch the boards here for when they announce it and then call and hope and pray you can get the resort you want.

As for our vacation. We spend a little over $5k withouth transportation.
Their are 7 in my family.
2 rooms value resort(hate that) but I won't get into the whole wish Disney offered better place to stay for large family like mines cause I don't want to get flamed.
7 day hopper with water parks
Peak season( cause that is the only time DH can take vacation.

Our total for our next trip is about $6,200. We are going December 7-14 this year and staying in a courtyard view room /w bunk beds at the WL. We have a family of four, two adults, one child, and one "Disney adult" (an 11 yr old). Also, we are trying out the Deluxe Dining Plan this time.

Our trips are $5000+ because we stay in the Deluxes, oftentimes club level.
It's sort of ridiculous, considering where else I could be taking my daughter but what can I say? I'm addicted!
(and I have taken her other places, but mostly Disney! ;) )

This is probably our last trip without kids so we are going somewhat all out. We are going in sept with free dining however we upgraded to the deluxe. We are paying $2550 for a woods view room at the WL & deluxe dining. We paid $215 for flights (I had a free trip thru southwest). Our park tix are being paid for by my in-laws. We've booked the keys to the kingdom tour at $120. So before we even land in orlando we're right at $3K so i'm sure we'll be spending $3500 - $4000.. WOW!! What we could of done with that money. But it's Disney!!

We are budgeting $4000 for next year's Disney trip. The 8 night package w/QSDP is $2800. That leaves $1200 for airfare and any sit down meals we might add. We are a family of 2 adults and 1 6 year old.

i went with 3.000-4,000 it will just be my sister and I and we are staying at the wl club level for a week and 3 day park tickets for both of us. plus gas and food

We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children), and our we chose $2,000-3,000 range. We live in South Florida, and now I realize how foutunate we are to not have to pay for airfare. It is a 4 hour drive from here to Kissimmee. Here is our breakdown:

$2,400-(POR/6nights, DDP, and Seasonal Annual Passes)
$120.00- Gas
$400.00- Spending Money
____________________________________
$2,920.00

So, as you can see...we barely make the category of $2,000-3,000. With the way everything is going up (including EVERYTHING at WDW) we have got to budget more for future trips....I can just imagine the adult expense of tickets, dining, and shopping of 2 pre-teen boys.:scared1:

Maybe me showing this thread to DH will convince him of buying into DVC!! ;) Here's hoping!

That's tougher to answer now that we are DVC and have annual passes. If it's a trip where we need to buy our AP's and staying DVC it could be in the $2-3000 range. If it's a trip where we alreadyhave our passes and staying on points it could be in less than $1000 :confused3

This upcoming vacation will cost us somewhere around $16 000.
Flights: $3000 (usually is more)
Accomodation (1 week villa off site, 1 week ASMU 2 rooms, 1 week undecided): $4000
Car rental + gas: $2000
Food: $3500
Tickets and spending money: $3500

Plane tickets, AKL resort, Park Hopper, Dining Plan for 8 days 7 nights was over $6000. Totally worth it for the memories with my kids :)

Can I travel with you guys who spend $5k on a trip! I am jealous..hehe :thumbsup2

We have been 3 years in a row and each trip has been $2400 or less total.

This year our total was around $2100 for 8 nights at POR, free dining and base park tickets for 8 days. It will cost $200 in gas there and back so $2300. We don't usually spend over about $100-$150 on random things while there so we should still be at or just a little above that $2400 price.

Oh wait, I am wrong on one thing.. we did buy MNSSHP tickets too so that was another $175 so we are pushing this trip to being a little more than we have done the past 3 years but still feel it is pretty good for an 8 night Disney vacation for our family.:thumbsup2 We would have never been able to go if it was any more than that although I do dream of staying at the Poly ONE DAY!! :cloud9:

We usually budget $2000-$3000 per trip. Buy an AP and stay at value resorts. Eat wherever we want but don't buy souvieirs.
