How much are the necklace cages for Pick a Pearl?

Can't wait to do this on our trip--I think I still have my pearl from 15 years ago in a small bag.

I did this two-and-a-half years ago for our fifth anniversary trip. I was the first person in line in the morning, so we had no wait. It was a wonderful, memorable experience.

Picking the pearl plus a silver necklace cage came to a total around $70, I think. A little steep, but a special souvenir I've kept, obviously, and still wear today-- I'm not big on souvenirs in general, but this seemed worth it. If I ever did it again, however, I'd probably get a cheaper setting in advance.

I ended up getting the necklaces off etsy. I got 2 sterling silver necklaces for around $91.

Wanted to update. The necklaces off etsy were wonderful but I would suggest not upgrading the chain to sterling silver. It's just too thin and both of my girls had a kink in it within hours. They weren't being rough with them at all. I highly recommend the cages!!!! We got the Minnie Ears and Cinderella's Carriage. Minnie Ears is my fav and several people asked where we got them!

I purchased a Minnie cage before our trip last year and after the first day my daughter noticed a line around my neck (yup, from the chain that came with the cage). This year for Christmas I asked for a chain to replace it and it works great (except that I only told my parents the length, didn't show them the cage that the clasp had to fit through so I had to do a bit of pinching with some needle nose pliers in order to get the chain through the opening in the cage). No longer does my neck turn colors!!!

Would someone mind telling me how much it was to pick the pearl only? And how did they give you the pearl in the event that you had your own cage or wanted JUST the pearl?

Thanks!

This is my daughter's pearl cage. We bought it ahead of time on eBay; it is silver-plated so it was inexpensive. ($10ish). She wore it empty to Epcot, and we sat at a bench outside the pavilion to put it in.

We got this same one for $8. We were about third in line and waited maybe 15-20 minutes. Afterwards I just popped her pearl into the cage myself.

The whole thing was very fun. My son picked the oyster and liked that. We told him to pick the ugliest, harriest, stinkiest, smelliest (he's four so you get the idea) oyster he could find.

I've heard the experience in Japan is FAR superior to DS and they don't do a hard sell for settings in Japan. They just handed us our pearl and we walked away.

Just picking the pearl in Japan was $16-17.

Thanks so much for the update!! My mom has a ton of chains, I could sneak in her house and she prob would not miss one. I will try to find something for DD here as well.
Thanks!!!

I got cages and sterling chains at http://www.pearlsisland.com/
You pick the length of the sterling chain so it adjusts the price a little but sterling cage and chain was around $30 for the shortest chain.
Gradmothers got them for Christmas. They also have plated versions as well.
They have more classic styles rather than Disney but they do have the carriage and the Crown

are the chains expensive at wdw? I am now thinking of buying the cage from etsy and perhaps buying the chain there?

The etsy cage includes a chain but you can upgrade it to silver. Or at least the ones I purchased.

I got the cage there and the necklace on my own. It was sterling silver, I got the cage for $25.
