Well, the latest is that Transport Canada is now prohibiting any carry-on on flights to the U.S. or International flights that connect through the U.S. with these exceptions:
"Diaper bags and other child-care items are allowed, as are medical devices, including medication, asthma inhalers and EPI pens. Small purses, cameras, musical instruments and laptop bags are permitted but will mean a longer trip through security. "
I spent a long time finding a camera bag to haul my equipment and still have room for some personal items... and now I find that I probably won't be able to use it on my next trip into the States. My fear now is that they'll extend this prohibition to other destinations. I don't have the next trip to the States planned yet but I am going to the UK in a month. If this measure is expanded to include other countries, I will be trying to find an old camera bag that is just that...only a camera bag. Guess the laptop is staying behind.
And I hope medication includes aspirin, tylenol and advil!
