How Messy/dirty does your house get??

I don't think our house is too bad (except my office, the linen closet, the garage, :guilty: ). There are plenty of days when I barely feel my head is above water, but I have a kind of hierarchy of chores which keeps me sane. Things that breathe are my first priority - do the kids (or cat) need hugs, guidance, food? Things that stink are my second priority - litter box, garbage cans, dirty dishes or laundry. Things that are in my way are the third priority - clutter, piles, toys, etc. Things that are obviously dirty or dusty are my last priority, so as you can guess, the dust on those 2" wooden blinds (that I had to have) on nearly every window in my house don't get a lot of attention. :) (I am guilty, however, of inviting people over just so I will be forced to deal with it!)

We have vinyl mini blinds in all the bedrooms, bathrooms, and hallway. When they get dirty I throw them away and buy new ones! They get replaced several times a year. They are only $5 or so each.

We just got wood blinds for the living and dining room and I'm realizing, I'm going to come up with a system for cleaning those puppies regularly b/c throwing them away won't work anymore!

Hey JOY: We have the BALI WOOD Blinds all throughout my entire house. We built the house and moved in one year ago...YIKES, they are now getting dusty (or I see the dust starting to pile ON)!!! Let me know your solution to this horrible task...because like you said...these are quite $$$ and I will not be replacing these for sometime...!!!

My house is a disaster and there's no excuse for it! I don't work, and I've been off all summer from school.

We definitely have CHAOS -- Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome

My husband is a clean freak so it doesn't get bad. Now if it were left up to me...........well you get the picture.

Right now all we really need to do is get some clothes hung.

BUT, the spare room is a mess. Its the nursery and we really need to get in there and get it straigtened out.

You are not alone!! This week has been horrible around here.. My grandbaby was born so we were at the hospital every night and things got left undone.. DF left this morning to go to Florida to visit with family.. I stayed behind because I dont have as much vacation time as him and we have 2 trips coming up before the end of the year.. 1/2 of the back yard looks like a jungle.. He only got half of it mowed before baby came and he ran out of time and then went out of town and wont be back for 2 weeks.. so I guess I need to get out in the heat tomorrow and mow it.. Of course there is dishes, clothes, vacumming and everything still left to do.. I plan on getting up early and tackling it..

I HATE washing clothes.. Once DF took a shower thinking there were towels in there and he got out and found none in there.. I forgot to wash clothes for a few days and there was literally no towel to dry off with.. He had to use a washcloth to dry off with!! :lmao: :lmao: He makes sure he has the towel in hand BEFORE entering the shower.. :rotfl2:

Too funny!! I thought I was the only one that did this :rotfl2: .. :lmao: I hate cleaning blinds.. its such a hassle..

I just have lots of clutter. I think I should clean, but I just get overwelmed and go shopping to forget about it. The only problem then is More Clutter. I bet none of you have an alligator in your living room. I do. I't a 7' long alligator bow hunting target. Life sized. It's been there for 4 months. I have alot of other stuff in my house too, but I can never find it. But I have an easy solution. Go tp the store and buy another one. I'll find the first one some day, but probabley not for a long time. I too watch clean sweep. My dd wanted to sign me up. I keep up with the wash, but I have 3 giant sock hampers of clean socks. The sad thing is there are only 3 of us living in the house. You'll never guess what I do when I can't find pairs-Yeap you guessed it,I go to the store and buy more. I even just signed up for the DIS sock exchange. I am disorganized and have tons of clutter, but I sure have a good time. i love my job,my family, traveling and the DIS. With all that, why do I need to have a clean house?

I'll tell you all one thing....I am the LUCKIEST woman on Earth - because my DH is JUST LIKE ME!!! I thank my lucky stars every single day, as I look around our "not so tidy" house knowing that when he walks in the door later on that it won't matter to him one iota!!

I started a thread last week, sort of the same idea....if you had 15 min. before company gets to your house and you could clean ONLY ONE ROOM, which would it be? For me, the ONLY room that is (almost) ALWAYS clean is the guest bathroom...as long as that bathroom is clean I could care less about the rest of our house being untidy or cluttered.

One word torondo that's what house looks like. Clutter every where. Computer room is diaster. But do get ready to clean watch out. I throw everything that has not been use in the last six months away. Took 4 huge bags trash out the computer room last to put in the garbge.

:bitelip: People stop!!!!! Can't even stand to hear about any of this. :crazy2: I'm a "cleaning freak" and if don't have anything to clean in my own house, I'm crazy enough to start in on yours! It's a horrible sickness to be afflicted with...sometimes wear myself out and the thing is, nobody even cares how clean or dirty my house is. No one but me that is. :sad2:

 I do! I cant stand dirty houses, messy houses!! :faint: :scared: And as somebody who has been in RE for over 20 years :sad2: I have seen my share :sad2: :crazy2:

Our house is always a bit cluttered and messy. Its not really dirty. I do the dishes at least daily, usually after every meal. But there is always piles of laundry to be done, and kids toys every where. Today we had a slumber party for dd's birthday. I had to get the house ready for it. She kept asking why I was stressed. Well, lets see, do your friends want to jump over the piles of clothes? HOw about that basket of clean cltohes in the hall way that we've been walking around for over week now? How about the table, should we clean it off so they have a place to eat?

I did get it all done, except my bedroom. I ran out of time and energy.

This is a thread for me. Our entry way hold the shoes that everyone can't seem to get to their rooms. The dining room table holds mails and clutter. it was cleared this evening and then we went to Wal Mart. :rotfl2: You can guess. DH came home with his take out food. Bag never makes it to the trash can just to the counter 5 ft from the trash can. I just got back drom Disney on the12th. My dresser is cluttered with purchases as is the floor in my room. Filled up an empty suitcase and had to buy a 50.00 duffle bag at WOD to get it all home. Dirt is not our problem it's clutter. We moved in in November Clutter free lasted about two weeks. Nice to know I'm not alone.

When DD was in elementary school, she was having a friend over for the first time. I didn't really know the friends parents to well yet so, of course, was worried about making a good impression. So I spent about 6 hours cleaning my house and making it perfect!!!! I was sweating when I was done and took a quick shower before the friend got here. I have to tell you my house was sparkling!!!! I was so proud of myself. Well Friend and her Mom arrive, and the mom says oh I was so worried about coming here, but I'm so glad to see that you're house is messy like mine!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

I about died. Said something like hey, with kids who has time to clean??? Oh if she'd been over 6 hours earlier!!!!

She's actually an incredibly nice lady and we've become good friends, but I always do an incredible job cleaning before she comes over!!!! She still doesn't know what "messy" means to me. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I try to have a couple of parties at my house each year, just to force the big clean up. Problem is when you remove all the clutter, you see the other things, like cobwebs in the ceiling corners, fingerprint marks on the walls etc..

i do this also but admit i don't replace as quick as you do

I try to keep it some what clean but its gotten pretty bad this summer. We have a small home so it can get cluttered VERY quickly. And its too small to justify a cleaning woman. I try to have those home demonstrator parties so I actually have an excuse to scrub the house. In fact I have one starting in 5 hours. I should get off finish cleaning. But I'm drinking my coffee and surfing instead. :surfweb:

This summer has been bad because we've been spending our weekends at the community pool and to heck with the cleaning. I figure it will be there at the end of the summer, just waiting for me. Glad to know I'm not alone out there. :teeth:

OMG! That totally sounds like us!

When we're having company, we'll clean it to a "company clean," which still isn't perfect, and then we'll apologize for the "mess" because we know that what's clean to us is still messy for some. :rotfl:

If you'd seen the way my mom kept house... OMG. It was bad. Clutter everywhere, mess and mayhem, it was a disaster. I've never quite been able to overcome that.

Mini blinds are a pain and not worth cleaning, just throw out and replace is how I do it too. I do have the wood blinds in my living room and while they are closed I just use the swiffer sweeper on them. Since the slats are bigger its a lot easier to clean than the mini blinds.

OMG, I never laughed so hard after reading that. You win today.

I am looking at clean laundry in my living room.

I was going to complain about 3 college kids that come home for the summer, plus I have 1 in h.s. yet. I literally cannot see my floors until they go back to their apartments, dorms etc. They have a ton of stuff, that really doesn't have anywhere to go. One son claimed the Dining room table, I am looking at his motorcycle helmet, jacket, lotion and his underarm-deodorant. Laptops, purses and backpacks are also piled high on the chairs.

Right now, I should be cleaning and going to church. I know my in-laws will be coming over after church and asking us if we went today. I have 2 more hours to either get ready for church or clean.
