We are planning our first family trip to WDW and I am trying to figure out how many days we should devote to each park. I know we will not see & do everything, especially since we have two little ones and plan to break in the heat of the afternoon back at the hotel (BWV) for naps. We also plan on getting a park hopper pass so we will not be limited to one park per day. We are also going in Sept so I am hoping that the lines will be short so we can get more done....

So how long do you think we should plan to spend at each park?

If this is your 1st time you will need all day at magic kingdom & epcot. Animal Kingdom just takes a morning and you could probably do MGM in half a day. There is alot to see. You are going to have so much fun. But with 2 small kids you want to not try to do too much. I still say Disney is more for the adults. It's almost overload for kids. Don't burn them out. Good luck

Well, you don't say how long you have available.
On our first trip we spent 10 days/11 nights... we also park hopped and did 2 parks some days but more or less:
We did 3 at MK, 2 at Epcot, 1 1/2 at MGM, 1 at AK , 1/2 at Blizzard Beach (planned a day but it was December & we froze) and one day with friends in Orlando. It was very nice we didn't have to rush. We certainly didn't come close to seeing everything on that trip but we had a great time.

Depending on how little your kids are, you might want to skip EPCOT or MGM. The major attractions have height requirements. I would say 2 days at the Magic Kingdom.

Sorry - We have 5 full days at Disney (Monday - Friday) We are flying in on Sunday and flying home on Saturday....

When we go, we spend literally ALL DAY at each park....from open to close. Of course, we don't have small kids so it's easier for us to do that! We stay for a week and get the 5 day passes and do MGM twice only because they have more rides, more shows, and more shops. The best part about this park is that there are a lot of places to cool off - most of the stores connect to each other so you can walk right through.

Animal Kingdom is my favorite park because I'm an animal lover, but I know that kids like it too because it's like a big zoo and there are a ton of characters there. The Safari Ride is awesome so definitely do that with your little ones. And Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade is great because there are a lot of characters that actually walk along the route instead of riding on floats. Line up early for a shady spot.

Magic Kingdom is huge - Don't rush to get through the whole thing because you will only frustrate yourself and your family. Take things as they come and do all of the areas in order so you avoid going back and forth across the park which wastes time.

EPCOT just started doing Kid Stops in most of the countries in the World Showcase to make it more interesting for the little guys. I happen to really enjoy that park, myself!

All in all, I would say the worst mistake my family ever made was "planning" our days down to the minute. We were frustrated if we had to wait in line because it was taking away from our time to do other things. Don't let the time bother you...Like I said, last year I went with just my boyfriend, we had no plan other than what park to do each day and it was so nice not worrying about "not getting to do everything." If we were hungry/tired/thirsty etc, er stopped. If we wanted to ride Tower of Terror 10 times, we did. Just being able to enjoy the atmosphere and not feel pressured to do a certain # of things really makes the vacation enjoyable.

Day 1: MK
Day 2: Epcot
Day 3: Animal Kingdom in morning; MK in evening
Day 4: MGM
Day 5: Repeat favorites - you'll have a much better idea what everyone loves.

I would definitely get a Hopper. Enjoy!

Generally we do:

Day and a half at Epcot
Day and a half at MK (one regular day plus a MVMCP on a separate day)
Less than a day for MGM
Half a day for AK, though that might change this year depending on how many times and how long I wait for EE. ;)

Since it's Sept and you are have kids along, I'd do about a day of each and just take it very very leisurely.

Ideally, you want to have 2 days each for Epcot and MK, and one day each for AK and the Studios, plus extra time for whatever else you want to do.

In your case, I'd plan on 2 days MK and one day at each of the other parks. If AK and/or the Studios close early, you can park hop to Epcot for extra time there.

Definitely 2 days at MK or, if you don't have 2, then at least 1.5! You probably won't be able to keep going all day every day so you'll need to allow for at least one rest morning or afternoon and hopefully you would be able to schedule in mid afternoon breaks for swimming and napping.

The best thing is to get to the parks early before the crowds pour in. We went to MK at opening and we went another day at 10am and the difference was phenomenal in terms of crowds - we thoroughly enjoyed that early day.

You could do just a half day at Animal Kingdom - it's *great* but you don't need a full day if you don't have one to spare!!

I wouldn't rule out MGM - the children will love the Playhouse Disney Live on Stage show (fabulous for little ones) and there are other shows too like Beauty and The Beast but you could take it easy at MGM and just try to see the shows without doing a whole lot of rides there - also the children would enjoy the street performers at MGM! You could consider that an easy day *unless* you're trying to do the headliner rides like Tower of Terror and then it'll be go, go, go. Staying at the Boardwalk of course you could walk to MGM (assuming you have a stroller for each child) or get the boat so I'm sure that would be fun. I'm looking forward to our first stay at BWV!!!

Good luck with your planning.

We have no children so we spend all day.

MK - twice (open to close)
Epcot - twice (open to close)
MGM - once (open to close)
AK - half a day (open to 1:00)

Hi! We went with our daughter back in Nov. 2005, for her 3rd birthday. She had a ball. And yes WDW has MAGIC as she actually asked to go take a nap in the middle of MK!!!!
Anyway, DH and I decided that Hoppers would be wasted money because it was just too much to ride the buses or monorail to the other parks. What with having to fold up the stroller and open up again....you know the drill.
IMO, 2 days as MK
1.5 days at Epcot -- my daughter got to hold hands and take a walk with Mulan, here!
1 day at MGM -- if your kids like Power Rangers and DisneyLive!
1 day at AK (I could spend 2 days at AK, personally -- Kali RR and spotting monkeys)

-- good luck with two little ones at WDW! It's fun but tiring!

One day per park, 2for MK if you have kids.

well we do not visit epcot or the water parks so with that in mind
mk-2 days
ak-1 day
mgm-1 day this is what we do
