How many wear a jacket at Palo?

I tried to figure this out on another thread, but the only two answering me don't agree, so I'll ask again. I know that a jacket is suggested, but I have read many times that a nice shirt and pants would not be out of place. Someone please tell me so I'll know how to pack. It will probably make the difference in Palo or no Palo since DH hates to dress up! Instead of breaking the rules, we'll just eat at Topsiders on formal night if he'll be out of place at Palo or our regular rotation without a jacket.

Hi Jenny,

When we dined at Palo's on our Wonder cruise in Oct 02, I wore A "golf Shirt" with a jacket. I'm sorry to say for your sack that most men were in jackets. For the couple of hours dinner takes a jacket can't be all that bad. It adds to the atmosphere of the occassion.

Good luck on your decision.

We jsut returned from the 3/16 WONDER and I don't recall seeing any men without a jacket. My plan was to wear it to the restaurant and then take it off when I started my meal. Since I didn't see anyone else with their jacket off, I kept mine on.

Thanks for your info, maybe then we'll just do brunch, will I be okay then?

We dined at Palos about 7:00pm. Some men wore jackets others slacks and a collared shirts. No one objected. Very nice continental meal. I recommend the calamari, tender and deliciouss.

The brunch is much less casual than dinner at Palo. Our last two cruises we opted for the brunch instead of dinner because we liked the offerings better.

mmouse37 - more casual or less casual? Please don't get me even more confused than I am! ;)

I have had the Palo experience 4 times. and each and everytime including brunch, I wore my jacket. I believe this exceptional dining experience is worth looking your best.

From the Disney Cruise Line website concerning appropriate attire at Palo: "We suggest men wear jackets and ladies wear dresses or pantsuits."

Disney has done an outstanding job of creating an elegant atmosphere for adults to enjoy a meal. I don't think it's too much to ask that you dress appropriately.

On my visit to Palo, everyone did so.

On the Wonder in July we saw mostly jackets or suits, and 1 tux.

Dinner, definitely a jacket. Brunch, dressy casual seemed to be the more popular choice.

ACK! Jackets at Palo's on the Wonder?! I thought we could get away with slacks, shirts & ties (w/o jackets) on our 3-day Wonder cruise! The thought of hauling 3 sportcoats across the country (1 for each man) is NOT appealing. I'm trying to remember the percentage of men who wore jackets when we've done our 2 other 3-day cruises. Palo's may be the only restaurant that we saw most of the men with jackets. (Palo's food is too good to pass up!)

If dining in Palo for dinner my hubby wears a Jacket, but when we have brunch in Palo he wears nice dockers and a button down shirt. He is in the majority. Yes, some people wear Jackets for brunch but not many. Brunch in any restaurant is more casual than at dinner. I believe the Palo dress suggestion for a jacket is for dinner, but I could be mistaken. Anyway he never felt out of place and always looked more than presentable!!

Definitely a jacket at dinner--as others have said, brunch is much more casual and a golf shirt, or button down shirt will be fine.

For brunch, the dress is RESORT CASUAL, I have never seen anyone wearing a jacket at brunch. They only ask for no SHORTS then.

At dinner, I HAVE seen men not wearing jackets even though jackets are suggested. Honestly, if you want to eat dinner there and your husband is dressed neatly in a nice shirt and dress pants then GO. No one will turn you away and you should not miss out on a great dinner over something like a jacket. :)

Thanks Michelle, I'll try for the jacket, but I'm lucky to get him to go at all. He's more into fishing. I wonder when he'll figure out he can't fish off our verandah? ;)

Samsma my DH has been trying his best to fish off the verandahs, no luck yet.

Believe what Michelle says, Palo is great and please don't let a thing like DH wearing or not wearing a jacket stop you from going. You will be welcomed and no one will make you feel uncomfortable.
We will be going on our 6th Disney cruise with number 7 booked. We usually have dinner at Palo 2 nights plus a brunch and High Tea. I would not keep going back if I was made to feel uncomfortable.

So back to my original question, Ginger or Michelle, or anyone else, can we skip formal night, go to Palo with "normal Palo" dress, and still be okay?

Jenny, yes, you can get a reservation for Palo and dress in the normal requested Palo attire on formal night and skip the main dining room. :)
