How Many Vaca., Sick, Personal Days Do you get..

I "truly" don't get any benefits. Right now now I'm working part time doing some bikini waxing, just hanging out in the sun , and making the most of Dad's $$$$ ;)

I work at a community college. I get:
22 days of vacation (can't carry over more than 30)
12 days of sick leave (can be carried over indefinately, excess vacation turns in sick - I currently have 5 mos. worth of sick leave)
17 days of paid holidays
No personal time - but I'm exempt so I can leave for a couple of hours to take care of personal business with no penelty)

Right now I get 15 days a year PTO. That includes vacations, sick days, personal days -- everything. I also am not allowed to work the 6 holidays a year, and if I want to get paid for those days, I have to use PTO. So after holidays (if I use PTO for them), I'm left with 9 days a year.

However.. I just had an anniversary where I work, so I'll start accruing PTO a little faster - 22 days a year. Minus the 6 days for holidays, I'm left with 16 days off.

The first year at my company... 6 holidays, 6 sick days and zero vacation/personal days.

Second year ... 6 holidays, 6 sick days and 5 vacation days.

Third through fifth years... 6 holidays, 6 sick days, 10 vacation days.

Bereavement... as much as you need (within reason). We find it very hard to put limits on dealing with the passing of someone you care about.

As a teacher I get the usual holidays and Christmas and Easter weeks. I am not paid for summer vacation. I have money deducted from each check and that is given to me on the last school day in June.
I get 12 sick days per year and if unused they accumulate, 3 personal days which don't accumulate, 5 bereavement days for close relative and 1 funeral day for aunts, cousins, etc.

Our company vacation/holiday policy is pathetic.

Factory employees and hourly office must take the 4th of July week and the week of christmas as their vacation days. After 15 years they get 5 extra personal days. No sick days and a whopping 3 holidays.

I lucked out and usually have to work the 4th and christmas due to month end closing so I take my two weeks vacation when I want and get the 5 extra days since I'm on salary.

DH gets

15 Vacation Days

5 Sick Days

3 Personal Days

But he also works a lot of OT (you don't leave until the installation is done) and he goes on-call several days a month which means he could work all day then all night and all the next day. He has been known to work straight thru the weekend (from 8 AM friday to 5PM on Monday with no break).

I work part time but I do get paid time off:

10 days paid vacation

and I'm not sure how many days of sick/personal time I get. I've taken a bunch this year as I was really sick, plus my kids have had a bunch of sick days and I've been paid for all of them. I do work flex hours and try work from home when the kids are sick if they're spending most of the day sleeping.

i own a small business, and my full time employees get 2 weeks of paid vacation and 3 sick days per year. no carryovers, and they get paid for the sick days that dont use. partimers get benefits on a prorated basis.

I work full time for county government (30 years) and earn:

25 vacation days
15 sick days (we are not eligible for state disability)
3 administrative
3 bereavement for immediate family

I also took 5 furlough days this year.

The amount of vacation time we earn is based on years of service.

I work FT and I will have been at my current job 14 years tomorrow (!).

I get:
Vacation: 25 days
Personal: 6 days
Floating Holiday: 1 day

We are not allowed to carry over any vacation days to the next anniversary year but we are allowed to carry over 3 personal days to the next anniversary year.

UGH! That is one of my pet peeves about this job....I have been here for 11 months.
I get one sick:sick: and one vacation day:yay: per month, so 12 of each per year. That's just about half of what I had at my last job.
I hate it soooo much that DH has almost agreed to let me quit after the first of the year and stay home. The 60-mile-per-day round trip and the $86 per month just to park, plus wear and tear on the car and my psyche are getting to be too much.
OK, vent over!:) Back to our regularly scheduled question!:rolleyes1

I've been there 9 years...
I have four weeks of vacation and one comp week (same thing as a week of vacation really). Three personal days and 10 sick days.

DH only gets 10 vacation days a year, no sick leave, no personal days. If you need time off for illness, baby, funeral, you use your vacation time, or you don't get paid. DH had to miss about 7 weeks for back surgery last year and he only had 4 vacation days left, he used those, then no pay.

This is what Kari gets for full time:

80hrs of vacation per year (can acrue up to 160hrs)
3 floating holidays (must be taken each year)
40hrs of sick time (acrues one year, for use next year)

Besides the floating holidays, your time is earned based off of how many hours you work... lots of over time, the faster you earn it. I think it's possible to earn more than 40hrs a year, but that's if you work a lot of over time.
bereavement I think is 3 days for immediate family, which includes in-laws. It might be possible for 5 days for out of state, but I'm not 100% sure. Never had to use it...

You can also get an authorized day off, if overstaffed, you can ask to take the day off (with or without pay).
Medical Leave of Absense - must be approved with a doctors letter
Personal Leave of Absense - Approved by area manager, and I think 10 days is the max.

Teacher here :teacher:

People think we get paid holidays and vacations, but we really don't where I live. Our contract is based on the number of work days per year in our contract. For every 10 days I work, I get paid for 7 of those days while the other 3 days get banked. The banked days cover my pay during the 2 week winter break, one week spring break, holidays and summer.

During the school year I get:
10 days of sick leave

1 day of personal leave and an extra day the next year if I call in sick less than 5 times during the year. Personal leave can accrue up to 32.5 hours and then it turns over to sick leave.

Bereavement leave is 5 paid days only for immediate family if out of town travel is involved. Otherwise it's 3 days.

We don't get any paid maternity leave. I saved and used up all of my sick leave when my kids were born and have been accruing it again over the past 10 years. I now have over 600 hours because I hardly ever get sick.

I'm self-employed doing freelance work, so no benefits for me.

DH has been at his job w/ a Fortune 500 company for 20 years and has 4 weeks vacation (max allowed now), and 5 sick/personal days. None can be carried over to the next year or paid if unused.

For those who get more than 5 or 6 sick/personal days per year, are those private or public sector jobs? Anyone in this area who has more than 5 or 6 either works for a small firm still offering generous benefits (rare), or is in the public sector. I have to say I find it staggering that the public sector still offers such a generous benefit when most taxpaying workers don't have anything close.

Per school year, I get paid:
1) for the 191 days that I work at school plus
2) 10 sick days
3) 3 personal days

I don't get any paid vacation days.:teacher:

This year, teachers in my county have 3 furlough days.

I now work for a Fortune 500 company and have 3 weeks vacation and 5 sick/personal days.

All prior jobs were for small family owned companies and the top # of allowed vacation days were 10 (after many years) and no sick/personal leave. For a family owned company your benefits appear to be on the high end.
