How many trips to WDW before you bought DVC?

I had been 16 times to WDW before finally buying into DVC this year. I guess I was in denial for quite some time...

dh and i gone together in sept. '01 (at the GF), then with my family (offsite in a poolhouse, that was actually quite nice) in jan. '03...during the planning of our nov. '03 trip (CSR) we started poking around here (we'd been on the dis since '01 but not this forum)....it didn't take long to decide to buy. sight unseen!

we called for ssr but they were offering bwv (sales office relo pts) and we grabbed 170pts. we paid cash and i feel it was one of the best decisions we've made.

we had our first dvc trip in june at bwv and i am hooked! we go back in january at okw. can't wait!

It took my family three times. My wife's family has a house in Punta Gorda (they were very fortunate, very little damage) and we stop by WDW for a couple of days before heading home and stayed offsite.

We went the following year and stayed at Westgate, it was very nice but we resisted their sell pitches. We went again the following year and stayed at Vistana. While on our stay at Vistana we decided to take the DVC tour. Wow, what an experience. Couldn't believe that there was no pressure to buy. I remember our guide saying "This is Disney, we don't need to use pressure, the Disney name sells itself". We talked about it and decided right then and there he was right. We had been going to WDW for the past three years and knew that it was were we wanted to have our family vacations. We bought 210 points at BWV. Then when we found out that they were building at BCV and we bought another 200 points. Heck, its only money, right? ;)

We brought our friends with us on our first trip to BCV and they bought 200 points. :hyper:

We believe that purchasing at DVC has been one of our best decisions.

Well I made several trips as a child and before I got married but I'm not counting those. I would say we bought after one trip, this past March. It was the first time we really took time to learn about it and even though we didn't put it into motion right away I'm glad we didn't wait any longer. We actually got a better deal waiting five months which is very rare!

Not counting long ago trips, I didn't pay for, I've been three times. Once to FW before DVC! Then, my Honeymoon at CBR in 98 and later a cabin at FW. I vaguely knew about DVC in the early to mid 90's but I had babies and a not so great marriage at that time!

DH would have croaked in 98 if I had re-discovered DVC then so I guess the timing was perfect this year::yes:: :teeth:

Can't wait for the first trip home to OKW this October!

I had been 10 times, but several were before DVC started, so those should not count. The ones I regret the most are the ones since my DVC sales presenatation in 1998. Before that I did not know about it. We spent enough in 2002 alone to have bought the minimum points.

Two.... Once back in 1993 (just 8 days before ToT opened, I am still upset I missed ToT that trip) and 2002 January OKW 2 bedroom trip.

Now if we were to count DisneyLAND trips.... A million 6 would be my answer!

We bought our points during our fist look at DVC. This after staying at a moderate hotel on I-Drive. One look at the accomodations at OKW andf I was hooked. The DW took about 5 minutes :teeth: to convince. She was worried that we would only go to WDW from now on. Seems she was right, but she plans all of the trips..... Go figure!

Too many to count! I'd estimate 8 - 10 years of two trips per year staying at Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club and Boardwalk Inn. If we only had the cash equivalent of DVC points, I'm sure we would be on the top 10-point list!

Even the year we bought in, we had a YC vacation planned that would have cost about $3500. Our guide helped us see the light and cancel that trip to apply it to our down payment. He was even able to get us a ressie at BCV at the two-month mark for the same time as our original trip so all worked out great!

I was interested in 1996 and Dh thought it would be too expensive so he would never go on the tour. FInally he watched the DVC commercial on the resort tv one night and agreed to the tour. Now we wish we did it sooner I would say there were 5 trips from the time I considered it to the time we bought.

Only three. First trip in 1987 we stayed offsite. Second trip in 1989 (maybe 90?) at Poly. Third trip in March 1992 we stayed at Port Orleans and did the DVC tour.

The fourth trip was our first member visit to DVC (no "Old Key West" back then!) Memorial Day weekend 1992.

Hard to believe it's been 12 years!

During our 2nd trip we bought.

After our first trip "home" we bought more.

After out 2nd trip home we bought VWL.

Not sure which trip we bought BCV.

Probably should stop taking trips. Can't afford more points.

Two trips.

DW and I stayed at the Polynesian in 92. DVC had a presence in the lobby trying to get people interested. Unfortunately I had the attitude of "why is Disney degrading themselves with timeshares?" instead of "maybe Disney will do it right", so I didn't even talk to them.

Except for a conference at the Dolphin, we didn't come back until 2001 for a Polynesian-DCL vacation, now with our two boys. Was more aware of DVC now due to this board, but still wasn't interested and didn't even talk to DVC reps. Walked past BCV construction without even looking.

But it must have planted a seed. Became a member 6 months later.;)

We took about 8 trips (a combination of childhood trips and adult trips)before we bought. I saw :earseek: and add for DVC in Disney Magazine back in '92 and knew I had to see it on our trip in December and most likely buy in. After seeing it we bought our first contract in Dec of '92, added on in '97 and '00 and never looked back....... Just still would like more points and more time off from work to enjoy them,=:earsboy: :earsgirl:

Started visiting WDW in 1987 annually or bi-annually (Pre-DVC); DVC was not in existence then, so...... PRE-DVC was a total of 4 times (use to stay at Disney Villas, not SSR has replaced them).

Post-DVC -- We visited three times before we finally signed up for SSR in October 2003

started going in 1972 -but I really think you mean after right?

we were staying in the Cont in 92 when I first looked at DVC -
signed the contract - got talked out of it by friends and family.

took my mother, brother, sil, and their children in 93. Brought over the phone when I returned....However I had already planned to stay in the Polyn that Christmas and it would cost too many points to cancel it for that time.

so I guess you would call two?
