How Many Trips Can I Milk?~A PTR

I love haunted places/ghost stories -- growing up in Charleston, we had tons of them. Another thing I want to do with the children one day is to take them back to Charleston and do a ghost walk -- if these Disney trips would quit getting in the way, I might manage it! :rotfl:

I posted the Minnie Crocs!

Oh, I can't wait to hear about the new books. I may have to follow your lead on those! It doesn't help that amazon has my credit card on file -- makes it to easy to say, "Oops, I pressed the send order button." :)

Yes, documenting everything is becoming an absolute MUST!

We are going on a ghost tour in Savannah during our Spring Break Road Trip in April. We've never been to Savannah and never done a ghost tour, so it should be fun. Have I planned as much for this road trip as I've done for Disney? Nope!
I got the shipping confirmation for the new books in an email today, so I will definitely reveal the titles as soon as they arrive. Yes, Amazon having my credit card on file makes the whole transaction seem surreal; it's almost as if I'm not even spending money! Drop in cart, click. Drop in cart, click. It's like a game. :dance3:

Britt, I love those envelopes!! What a great idea. And the cast members probably appreciate that too; I would if I were them. It shows that you know they are working hard and you appreciate great service.

I will have to follow that link and make some. Crafty, crafty!!

Thank you for calling my obsession crafty rather than nerdy. I cannot take any original credit for any of these ideas. The Dis is full of truly talented people. I am imagining that CMs would appreciate them, but when I showed DH he gave me quite the look. He said, "When we go to dinner here, you're fine with just giving servers plain money. Why does Disney dining suddenly require a special envelope?" Silly DH...

Please tell me how to print the envelops out, I can not figure it out! Mine keep coming out crooked!

I am no expert. But, here's what I did:
Copy and paste pic into Word.
I then somehow selected letter #10 size envelopes, enlarged the pic, and changed the view to landscape rather than portrait. My printer just has the envelopes feed down through the right side.
I didn't have any trouble with them coming out crooked, but maybe you just want to hold the envelope as you feed it through to keep it straight, or maybe change the margins???

Sorry, I'm probably not much help, but it was fun to print them out!

BrittBritt your envelopes are brilliant. We left Mousekeeping ones last time but have never seen the restaurant tips ones before, it is such a cool idea and I bet the cast members really appreciate it, I certainly would. I especially love the Ohana one, and the 2nd Yak and Yeti.

You should definately celebrate you're anniversary when you're there. Last time we went we had 3 birthdays and DBF's and my graduation to celebrate and nothing this time ... so we made something up - and were celebrating our 4 1/2 year dating anniversary. Go for it, and the personalised menus sound brill - what exactly are they??

I too am worried about the Coral Reef, its the ADR i'm really not sure about but I am determined to try it. Will definately know what we think ... hopefully it will be good :thumbsup2

Evidently, at the Coral Reef, you can call Debbie at 407-560-6856, and she will have you email pics to her. Then, when you arrive at the Coral Reef for your meal, the menu you're given has your pics on the left hand side and the menu choices on the right. I've seen some examples on other people's threads, and they've looked very cute. DH has no idea this is even possible, and I'm sure he'd be shocked to receive a menu containing his own face!

I don't know how long it takes Debbie to get in touch. I haven't heard back from her yet, but I've been having cell phone trouble, so maybe she really HAS called? I'll try back in a few days if I don't hear from her.

Those envelopes are really cute! If only I had enough patience to do them. Maybe I'll sneak up to the CMs after you've eaten and buy them from them? Hey CMs could start making a ton of extra cash!! If people buy used fastpasses they will surely buy a really cute envelope to reuse!

Good job on the table arraingements for your wedding! We did ours ourselves too. We used wire pumpkin candleholders from Micheals and you don't know how many times I sent my mother there with coupons to buy them! They only let you use one coupon at a time! (We had 14 tables!) We also used leaves to scatter around the centerpieces.
OK, now that our centerpeices are somewhat similar and the date is the same what did your cake look like??

xxoo Your sister way up North! :rotfl:

Reusable tip envelopes! Can you see me asking the CM to hand me the envelope back after they've taken out their tip?
The wreaths from the arrangements were from Pier One. I bought them at 75% off clearance with a coupon for an additional 20%. I bought them an entire year before the wedding!
The cake was nothing special....plain!

Your envelopes are cute! I have made my mousekeeping envelopes - I should add them to my Pre-TR but never even thought about making envelopes for our ADRs! How cool, thanks for the idea and hope you don't mind if I use it! I will post pictures of my mousekeeping envelopes later today...some of the designs I got on these boards but a few I did make. I love Paint Shop Pro!

Happy Planning! I have 19 days left and I can't wait but I am running out of stuff to plan!

Oh, 19 days! I wish! Definitely post your mousekeeping envelopes. I haven't decided which ones of those I'll be using. Who knows, maybe I'll be stealing yours!

ok never mind...I got it to work on "regular" envelopes...I was trying to use smaller envelopes left over from the wedding thank yous...I put in the custom size BUT...well not sure why they wouldn't work but that's ok!!

Now if I could only get my printer to stop smudging the ink all over! :rotfl2:

Thanks for motivating me to get this done...

Jes

So glad you could answer your own question because Lord knows I am not a technical wizard. The envelopes seem like a pain to print, but once you actually get started, it was fun. Now DH is yelling at me for using all of the ink!

Do you think I'd be kicked off the "Behind the Seeds" tour if Disney knew this was the extent of my gardening ability?

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

This is just a little embarrassing!
Do also notice the Lay's potato chip bag in my "garden"? How did that ever get there? :confused3

BrittBritt I'm getting so jealous, everything about you're wedding, you're centrepieces, cake, dress, Faith and how you looked are all so amazing. And I dont think you're cake is plain, i'd call it understated chic :cool2:

Oh, Savannah is fun! Have you read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil yet? A definite must read before any trip to Savannah! Where else are you headed? It sounds like fun!

Perfect description of how easy Amazon makes spending money! Looking forward to hearing what titles you bought!

Oh, haven't you heard about the Behind the Seeds Intervention Tour where they "help" people like you and me with gardening problems :lmao: :lmao: ? A student gave me a spider plant for Christmas, and I had to convince another teacher to take it home -- it was almost dying in my care after three days!

After much nagging and threats of a cease and desist on all future cooking, I finally got DH to commit to ADRs.
This was NOT easy.
I already had some ideas in mind of where I wanted to eat, and of course, I already knew all about what our schedule would be. As always, DH knew nothing about nothing but didn't let that stop him from opining.
I will save you the long and drawn out conversation about how I never knew DH didn't like steak, and how I thought he was making that up to simply foil my plans to eat at Le Cellier, and how the CM LAUGHED at me over the phone when I had to GIVE UP a 7:00 dinner ADR for Le Cellier because, didn't I understand, this was not an easy ressie to get... The phrase, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" frequented our conversation...(Yes, it was said in caps :mic: ...The honeymoon is over ;) ...) Revenge on DH is being plotted as I type...:stir:

And without further ado, our plans:

Monday, July 21st:
Wake up early at home and drive to Epcot
Be there by 8:30 (hopefully)---We'll need to still pick up our Fl. Res. APs
Ride Soarin' and explore FW
Lunch: Either Cantina de San Angel, Sunshine Seasons, or POP Food Court (I'm leaning towards Sunshine Seasons. Have you seen pics of their desserts on the food porn thread?)
Around noon check into POP
Back to Epcot for a spin around WS (FIESTA MARGARITA!)
5:10 ADR at Coral Reef (This is the ADR I'm least excited for. This is DH's pick, and it's what replaced Le Cellier. DH says he thinks it will be "cool" to look at fish. Nevermind we live in Florida and can look at fish WHENEVER WE WANT! :furious: Marriage is compromise, marriage is compromise...)
Illuminations at 9:00
MK for 11 Spectro (Does anyone know if this would even be possible? Taking the monorail and making it to MK in time?)

Tuesday, July 22nd:
Be at DHS by 8:30
Ride RnR & TOT
CS Lunch at DHS or AK---I'm leaning toward AK
AK for the afternoon
5:00 ADR at Yak & Yeti
At AK till 8:00
PI for Comedy Warehouse/Adventurers Club OR MK till 11 OR Epcot till 12 for EMH (Decisions, decisions...)

Wednesday, July 23rd:
Tonga Toast at Poly (Captain Cook's)
Be at MK by 8:30
Space, Splash, & Big Thunder Mountain!
Lunch at CHH (Hmmmmm....Anchor's Aweigh)
Sneak in a Dole Whip
6:20 ADR at 'Ohana (So excited for this!)
Wishes at 10
Illuminations at 11
DHS until 1? (Once again, even possible/worth it? I know, I know, you're going to say just go to bed...)

Thursday, July 24th:
Be at AK by 8:30
Everest!
Lunch at FTBBQ
Bus to DHS
5:30 ADRs for Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package
Fantasmic at 9
Epcot till 12? (How would we get there? Walk? I know, I know, go to bed!)

Friday, July 25th:
SLEEP IN!
Breakfast at POP Food Court
Shopping at DTD
Lunch at EOS
Pick up goodies to bring home at Goofy's Candy Co.
Find something for Miss Botox at the dod store (Dog Tails? maybe it's called?)
Drive home :guilty: (Or give DH the pitiful face and get more park time somewhere)

We aren't big breakfast people, so that won't be a priority for us. We will definitely be loving us some Tonga Toast on Wed.
I must also find time for some Schoolbread and a Cloudberry Horn.
Oh yes, and I must also make time for some Figaro Fries.

Let me know what you all think. I know we're really on the go for this trip, but remember, my trip with my mom in Oct. and with Faith in Dec. will be much slower.

Some suggestions if you want:

On the day you want to go to Epcot for Illuminations at 9 and then Spectro at 11, make sure you watch Illuminations from as close to future world as possible, and then get to the monorail as quickly as you can. You should make it in time, but you may not get the best spot for Spectro. If you get behind too many people at Epcot though, you will have to wait for several monorails. They come pretty quickly at closing so you should still be ok.

I found that EMH at Epcot aren't the greatest. The lines for the three headliners are still rather long until the last hour.

One night you have Wishes planned for 10 and then Illuminations at 11. I don't think you'll have enough time to get to Illuminations. It's two monorails and then a long walk to WS. I would just pick the one you want to see more.

Getting from MGM to Epcot is pretty easy but takes a while. You can walk but I've never done it so I don't know how long that would be. There's also a boat but that's about 30 minutes maybe? It was really slow because they stop at all the resorts. There may also be a bus but I haven't taken it.

Definitely get the Tonga Toast! I loved it! Also, I would recommend the Grand Marnier slushie from France.

I hope this didn't sound bossy or anything, I'm just suggesting stuff I would do in case it helps. :)

I must have had Disney fart brain. When I wrote Wishes at 10 and Illuminations at 11, I really meant Spectromagic at 11...My brain is turning to mush.
For the EMH at Epcot---if we ever make it there---we'd probably just be taking our time through the WS. I know the main rides will be crowded, but is the WS usually crowded during eve. EMH?
Please, any suggestions are helpful...Yes, I have read of this French slushie you write of, and I will somehow have to work it into my plans.

Thank you so much for your kind words.
Weddings, I am convinced, are one of life's most stressful events. I had nightmares about terrible things happening for weeks before the big day. Once the majority of the stressful parts were over, you couldn't wipe the smile off my face if you tried! :bride:

Oh, Savannah is fun! Have you read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil yet? A definite must read before any trip to Savannah! Where else are you headed? It sounds like fun!

Perfect description of how easy Amazon makes spending money! Looking forward to hearing what titles you bought!

I have never read Midnight...I can already hear Amazon calling my name. You would think with all the books I'm buying, I'd just go to the library. There's just something about your own book that you can highlight in and smell the pages...nerdy...I know.

I'll post some info on the road trip tonight. Believe it or not, I have a countdown calendar for the road trip! :upsidedow

I really need to do something with those shameful plants....Behind the Seeds may not be enough of a tour. I may need the summer school version as well. :teacher:

I am so glad that you subscribed to my thread, so I could read your amazing pre-trippie! You are doing an amazing job. I'm going to try and remember everything that I wanted to comment on, but they may be out of order.

I am a language arts middle school teacher, too! :teacher: I have taught mostly 7th graders, though for the past few years, I've had 8th grade. I totally understand your sentiment about kids, after working with middle schoolers. I love my job, though. It's been 11 years for me. However, now that I'm in my early thirties, my mind has begun to shift on the baby issue, so maybe it will be for you, too. Enjoy your time, now, for sure.

I love all your pics of your dog!!! We have a shih tzu who is definitely our baby. See? Here he is:
RACHELANDCUDDLES.jpg

You have a very pretty sister. Those pics are great, and I loved your escapades at the HD. Too funny! I've thought about going to get some Mickey chips a number of times, but never actually have. I can't believe you actually got 142 of them! :rotfl2: That's great. The garland is a great way of using them.

I love all the other personal stories, from the wedding to your DH's job. Some very funny moments.

How cool that you are going so many times in one year?! :woohoo: You are one lucky girl! As you know, from my pre-trippie, we're going to POR for the first time, but we have stayed at POP and loved it!

I'm glad to hear of your experiences with Crocs. We plan to get some, and I'm glad to know that someone else has questioned buying them. I mean, I adore shoes and they are so not my idea of cute shoes. But, can so many feet walking around WDW in them be wrong? So, I hope they work out for us. We are thinking of getting a shoe type and a flip-flop type so we can alternate and have some options.

I can't wait to hear of what you think about the Disney fiction book. I have considered getting it.

Definitely celebrate your anniversary while you're there in July! We celebrated ours in December, but I found that many people celebrate their special moments at WDW, whenever they are able to, regardless of the date. Sometimes it's just not convenient to go during the actual date of your celebration. Just be sure to have it indicated on your resort ressie and on all your ADR ressies! You'd be surprised at some of the little surprises you might get. In my post-trip report from December, I talked a lot about that. Also, if they don't give them to you at the resort, go to City Hall at the MK, and ask for the free anniversary buttons for you and your DH. My DH and I wore them for most of the trip, and it's so nice how many CM's go out of their way to make your time more special. Some simply congratulate you. Others go a little further. It's nice. They look like this:
DinseyStuff001.jpg

When are you guys going to tell Faith about the special trip in December? Has she ever gone? Have you ever been during the holidays? It's so much fun and so different than any other time of the year.

We are thinking of doing the Behind the Seeds Tour. We considered it for this past trip, but then changed our minds.

Your itinerary looks good, so far. I can't wait to read more!!! :surfweb:

:welcome: Thanks for joining and for all of your kind words. We're going to rack up the number of middle school LA teachers on this thread! (No one but a teacher understands how tiring a day full of "Sit down" & "Where's your pencil" & "Quit kicking the back of his chair" can be...)

I am so glad I am not the only person here obsessed with their dog! You know it's bad when you start addressing them as a PERSON...hence the Miss Botox.

I think I will consider our July trip as our anniversary trip. I think it would be so much fun to wear the buttons...we'll see if I can get DH to do that!

As for telling Faith, here's what I'm thinking: She's been known to become pretty unbearable when she knows she has a fun event to look forward to. The holidays are stressful enough for my poor stepmom, so I want to wait until the very end to let Faith know. Usually when we open Christmas gifts, Faith has about 30 under their tree from us. This year there will only be one. Before Faith opens the box, I'll scare her into thinking that we're cutting back on Christmas this year and to not expect much. (You know, the whole scare the 8 year old into having major fears about the economy plan ;) .) When she opens the (very small) one box, she'll pull out a t-shirt that says, "You're going to Disney World....and you leave tomorrow!" Or something like that. Then I'll be able to go back out to the car and drag in the tons of Disney related trip gifts that I'm sure I'll be picking up between now and then. (You didn't think all I'd give the child on Christmas is a t-shirt, now did you? )

That's the best plan I've got so far, but I've been known to change my mind...we'll see what actually happens!

Yes, you definitely need a copy of Midnight so you can highlight all the places you want to go while you are there!

:lmao: I know I need the summer school version of Behind the Seeds for sure. MIL has finally stopped buying me plants in the hopes that I do something with the yard -- I think she has given up!

That's the truth! Thank goodness today was Friday -- it was day two on teaching adverbs, and I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown if I had to answer, "Do we have to write the sentences?" one more time!

I like your idea for how to surprise Faith on Christmas morning! That will be fun to see her reaction!

Lest you think I am only a nerd when it comes to Disney, I submit here evidence to the contrary:

Exhibit A:
Here's my countdown calendar to the road trip DH and I are taking: (We're down to 29 days! :yay: )
DSCN1582.jpg

DH put it on the MIRROR with SCOTCH TAPE. Yup, he'll be cleaning his own mess.

Exhibit B:
Here's my planning binder for the 1 WEEK we'll be away:
DSCN1588.jpg
DSCN1587.jpg

(I mean, I'm pretty sure the president makes it through his week without needing THAT much information! :rolleyes1 )

Quick itinerary: (I know, I know, :offtopic: . BUT, it is PLANNING, and we will be driving past DISNEY TWICE, and it involves Dis-type things like a BINDER and a COUNTDOWN CALENDAR...So, it's clearly exactly on topic...ahem.)

So. Florida to Savannah, GA. for 1 night
Savannah, GA. to Spruce Pine, NC. for 2 nights (Oh, Lord we're in the middle of nowhere)
Spruce Pine, NC. to Bryson City, NC. (for 3 nights) via the Blue Ridge
Bryson City, NC. to home (maybe being forced to stop over an extra night if we can't make the drive nonstop in shifts)

Feel free to give me tips about any of these places if you've been there.

Look at where I found Miss Botox when I came home from work today. (Miss Botox NEVER greets me at the door. She's too lazy, and she prefers that I come to her. She also prefers that when I find her, I have a treat. Do you think she wants to come on vacation too?)
DSCN1580.jpg

Also, I know I can't be the only one out here that does this: Do you ever imagine how your DOG would like a Disney ride while you're on the ride? DH and I have this conversation nonstop whenever we're at Disney. We've concluded Miss Botox's type of ride is the TTA. Very Nerdy.

:lmao: Wow! I can only imagine what your trip planner will look like for the trip you really are planning this summer :scared1: ! What kind of binder is that -- it looks really cool -- I might need to upgrade mine!

Savannah is the only place I have been to -- the others sound like fun though!

Miss Botox just wanted to find out what all the fuss is about :). She does look like a TTA kind of girl :).

When she opens the (very small) one box, she'll pull out a t-shirt that says, "You're going to Disney World....and you leave tomorrow!" Or something like that.

First of all, I LOVE the idea of how you want to tell Faith. What a great way to do it!!!

At first, my DH didn't want to wear the buttons. Then, I kept pointing out all the threads I found with couples wearing them, and he agreed. At first, he wasn't sure how often he'd wear his, but when we noticed how much attention they brought and how many others wore buttons too, we ended up wearing them almost every day! Tell your DH you could potentially get free stuff, when you wear them. That's true. Though, like I said, make sure you have anniversary put on your resort ressie and all your food ressies. We also made sure to tell them whenever we checked in for our meals that it was our anniversary, though many of them would mention it to us first, since it was on our ressie.

As for how tiring teaching can be, I am sometimes amazed at the questions I get asked on an almost daily basis, like, "Do I have to write full sentences?" "How much do we have to read/write?!" as though I'm giving them a 20 page paper to write or an anthology to read in one sitting, "Why do we have to write/read so much?" I mean, are they kidding me? It's language arts class! Okay, I'm done with venting over that. :rotfl:

We totally treat our dog like a person, to the point that my parents refer to him as their grandchild.

Look at where I found Miss Botox when I came home from work today. (Miss Botox NEVER greets me at the door. She's too lazy, and she prefers that I come to her. She also prefers that when I find her, I have a treat. Do you think she wants to come on vacation too?)

Also, I know I can't be the only one out here that does this: Do you ever imagine how your DOG would like a Disney ride while you're on the ride? DH and I have this conversation nonstop whenever we're at Disney. We've concluded Miss Botox's type of ride is the TTA. Very Nerdy.

That pic of your dog is too cute. Did she position herself like that, right on the Disney book? She definitely wants to go with you guys. How much more of a clue does she have to give you? :lmao:

We talk about which parts of WDW our dog would enjoy the most, too! We think he'd love walking through the parks, so much. Personally, we think he'd love most of the dark rides. I mean, you sit and watch. Our dog is perfect for that! So, he'd be more of a MK type dog, since they have more conducive rides for animals. Too bad we'll never get to find out for sure.

Britt, I'm really enjoying your trip report, and I love your ideas for telling Faith about the trip. She'll be so excited, and you'll have such a great time!

I'm also a teacher, although I generally teach high school... but I teach in a 6-12 school, and I've been doing a Saturday program with the 8th graders for the past month or so... working with the middle schoolers gives me a new appreciation for middle school teachers - I'm great with the older ones, but the younger ones make me want to scream!

The binder has a built in accordion file in the back. I have brochures and small guide books tucked in there now. That's why it looks so thick!

Yes, it's sad that we play the WWBD (What Would Botox Do) game on the rides at Disney. We've also agreed that the Haunted Mansion would also be right up her alley. :rotfl:

Honest to goodness that was how I found the dog when I came home from work. Botox doesn't "do" posed pics. Oh, except when she dressed up as Tink for Halloween. :rolleyes1 We actually did take her with us once when we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel! It was hysterical checking in with her by our side. :goodvibes

I love that you already know what park your dog would enjoy most. Miss Botox would never be able to make it all the way around the WS at Epcot, so that park is out. AK would be WAY too hot for her. She'd hate ToT, so I guess MK would be the best dog park!

Oh, you're brave to fool with the eighth graders! I won't even go there. At least with the sixth grade, there's still some desire to please you, and you can still threaten them with things like calling their parents or giving them a '2' in conduct! In the eighth grade, there's no effective LEGAL form of punishment.

Thanks for reading! It is going to be quite the challenge not slipping up and accidentally spilling the beans to Faith about the surprise over the next 9 MONTHS!

I LOVE that picture! It seems like Botox loves Disney as much as you do. She's definitely trying to tell you something. Maybe you can squeeze in one more trip this year. It's too bad you can't really take her on the rides, that would be so much fun. Did you ever see the Disneyland commercial with the dog that was dreaming he was at the park? It was SO cute. They may have done the same one for Disney World but I'm not sure.
Ken and I have sometimes wondered what our cat would do at Disney but since she's terrified of absolutely everything, we're pretty sure it would be anything but the happiest place on earth for her.

I meant to put this with the previous post but forgot to. Yes, world showcase should be fine during EMH. Every time I've been there it was pretty empty. However, not all of the stores were open. Some of them were and it seemed to vary a little with each trip.

I will have to upgrade to a binder with a built-in accordian file -- the possibilities are endless with that combo!

I think it's precious that you play WWBD -- if she would like HM and TTA, I wonder if she would like It's a Small World and Jungle Cruise -- hmmmm :scratchin ...
