How many times have you had jury duty?

I just got called for a 2nd time. Didn't get on a jury the first time 'cause one of the lawyers lives in my neighborhood.

My DH has been on jury duty 3 times, having served twice on a jury. He really enjoyed it. :D

Never - I was called once and couldn't go. (I was in Florida, JD was in Jersey!)

DH was also called and couldn't go (being in the Air Force and in training!)

I've been called 3 times and never picked. I had to testify in a conspiracy to commit murder trial and that usually knocks me right out.

Once, and I ended up on a jury for someone accused of murder. It was fairly interesting, but the courthouse was in a bad area of Chicago and it scared the heck out of me to go there every day.

The case itself was fascinating, but the lawyers loved to hear themselves talk I think. They droned on for hours before making their point. I think it drove the accused nuts because on the 5th day he stood up in the middle of a speech from the prosecutor and yelled "I did it OK!! Just get me the **** out of here!".

We were dismissed shortly thereafter.

I just received a notice in the mail for Jury Duty in September. This would be my 4th time!!!!!!!!! I have never been picked to be on a jury because as soon as they find out my BIL is a lawyer, I am the first to go!! I think they should give some other people a chance!;)

In January, I served on a jury for a criminal sexual assault case. The defendant was accused of having sex with his teenage step-daughter.

I've never been chosen. I'm not registered to vote and it's my understanding that they get jury duty lists from that. I could be wrong though. That's why I don't register.

I have been called 4 times and chosen once. My Dad, at age 84 has never been called and would have loved to serve.

In Wisconsin - their list of potential jurors comes from the Driver's license list.

Been called 6 times - never served on a case. I have been called at least 1 time every place I have lived. I hate to say this - I find the whole process a joke. I would agree with the previous poster that the Illinois lawyers talk forever and forever and the judges are just as bad. And that info is just from being part of the jury selection pool.

AND if I have to see another "it's your duty to serve" speech on video one more time - I think I'll puke.

been called twice, got on a jury once.

The last one was just a week ago, they called 10 panels of jurors (120 people) to get one jury of 12 with 2 alternates. It was a guy up on criminal charges of 2 counts of indecent sexual assualt of a child under 14 years.

They had to disqualify about 65 people until they had enough for a jury. I was one of the last people, so I didn't have to serve; which is nice, cause it was going to last at least 3 days.

I served once in LA - it was at the same time as the OJ Simpson trial, and were were actually on the same floor. What a circus! We spent a lot of time in the halls as the lawyers negotiated in our case, so we just watched the nonsense. And then one day - Snoop Dog showed up for his court case!

Well, at least it was interesting.......

Had to report once, but never got a case.

I've received a summons twice.

Got a waiver both times.

Once I was a college student and living in a different county
Once I was about 81/2 months pregnant

I have never been called for jury duty and i would give anything to be on a jury as long as we could go home at night.

I've been called to serve 3 times since moving to Florida. Never called in New York. Once I got excused because I had a child under 5 at home. The other two times I didn't get picked for the jury because I have family members in law enforcement - cousin who's a DEA agent, Uncle retired NYC cop, and a cousin in corrections. Once they hear that I am excused.

I always thought they picked names from voting lists, especially since it seemed everytime I vote I get the notice. But I have a friend who insists the lists come from the DMV, so anyone driving a car is a potential juror.
