Actually, I think it was called a "Business Hub" by the time I retired. What had been just the copier, became the fax machine and the printer for our entire department. Mind you, we used to have 7 printers in our department, so it bore a heavy load.You are bringing back bad copy machine memories, lol!
Then there was the battle over whether to continue to have a phone line connected to it so it could operate a fax when we upgraded our phone system. "Nobody uses faxes anymore" said the head of IT. Fortunately the boss, when I objected to disconnecting the line, asked the IT head for a list of phone extensions with a report on how much traffic they had received in the past month. That fax line was number 4 out of 100ish phone lines in the building. Of course the IT head didn't realize how many official agencies do NOT allow the transmission of official documents via e-mail, they require them to be faxed. Well, with one notable exception. ONE court still only accepts official documents if you hand carry them in, or if you mail them via USPS.
