How many stops does Mears make...

During the week of Jan 12, DH and I are going to Universal for 1 day and are considering taking Mears from PO-R to Universal.

Just wondering what others have experienced...how many stops do they make between POR and Universal?

And on the return trip...does Mears wait for the shuttle to fill with WDW guests before they leave Universal?

number of stops depends on how many others from your resort area are going at the same time. when we used mears this past august from animal kingdom lodge to universal, there was one other couple going from our resort and when were put in a van and the driver went straight to universal. i have also gone from carribean beach and were picked up by a bus and didn't make other stops as we were the last stop. as for the return, the bus does not wait until it is filled. you have to schedule your return trip as well so it depends on who else has schedule that time. when all who have reservations are boarded, the bus leaves. on our return to akl in august, a bus came and filled up about 1/2 of the way. most of our bus was for the all star resorts so we just had to drop off at one of those. the only others on the bus were the couple that went with us in the morning. this trip took a really long time and we were concerned about our next shuttle as we were going to the airport from the hotel. the driver we got decided to take us on a scenic tour of orlando and point sites out. it took us a really long time to get back.

It's been quite a while since we've used Mears from WDW to Universal, but I think they only stopped at one other resort the couple of times that we used them. At one resort, the people who had made the reservation never showed up so the poor driver ended up going there for nothing.
Coming home, we left at park closing time both times. The Mears bus wasn't there yet, but it showed up shortly thereafter. Coming out we were in a van, but going back they sent a huge bus. There were a lot of us waiting, so if I remember correctly, we left shortly after everyone was seated. I think we did more hotel stops on the way home than coming out, but I'm not sure because I was too exhausted from a day in the park to notice.
