How many square feet is your home???

Yep, I have relatives who will be retiring far better off than they ever dreamed when they sell their $$$ home in Campbell and move to a more affordable place. (that would be almost anywhere else I'd think)

Just a question about the basement thing. If it's finished why do you not count it in the SF?
I know when we were house shopping we looked in a certain size range and I'd sure consider a finished basement as part of the total living space.
I guess if you're house shopping and you live in an area where basements are common, you know to watch for that.
Just seems a bit curious.

Our house is 3500 sf. If you add the finished basement and garage you have a total 5200 sf.

Ours is 3,500 sq ft with a finished walk out basement. Square footage for finished basement is counted where we live. Our basement has a bath, scrapbook room and living area. All usable space.

Well, if you finish your basement, it's generally heated. Ours is not finished and it is already heated and cooled. I'll count it after we finish it, that is customary here.

Ours is a 2987 sf two-story. Our entire lot is 11,000 sf. Our first house was 1608 sf - that one was way easier to keep clean!
