How many PSs do you make?

I'm going for 8 days at the end of July. Staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I purchased the Meal Plan. Will most likely have every breakfast meal at Whispering Canyon.

I'm wondering how many PS reservations do most people make in any one trip? I really don't want to have my day set to a lunch and dinner schedule. For the most part I can eat lunch and dinner on flexible times.

My first thought was definitely make a PS for the 50's Prime Time Cafe, maybe a lunch one for the Sci fi figure being in MGM all day anyway.

But after that do you think I won't get in anywhere without a PS or the waits are not that bad? Do you know of any must-PS restaurants? Sorry for all the questions but I haven't gone since '93 and this will be my longest stay ever.

July is a busy time, so you may have problems with some of the sit down resturants.

We usually make a PS for dinner everynight of our trip. We like to do a sit down meal for dinner.

We make all of the character breakfasts we want to do to.

If you have a small party & want to eat at off times (earlier or later then the dinner rush) you may find some availabilty.

But make PS for all the resturants you know you really want to do. That way you wont be dissappointed.

And all your character meals have to have a PS. Sometimes you get lucky, but more often then not you will be locked out of character meals if you dont have PS.

Thanks, my kids are 13 and 16 so at least I won't have to deal with the character meals. When I approach the 90 day window I guess it will be easier to decide. Right now I don't which parks have extra hours etc.. for July.

First off, welcome to the Dis, fantavet!!! :wave2: We are glad you found us.

On average we do 1 sit down meal per day and if the restaurant accepts PSs we book it. Once in a while we will do 2 PS meals in 1 day if we need to, to eat at all our favorites. ;) Usually then we do breakfast and dinner.

As for what PSs to book, I would suggest booking anything you really want to eat at. The waits can be very long without a PS. I learned this on our honeymoon when we tried getting lunch one day at MGM and every restaurant had a wait of hours. Thats when I learned how important it is to plan. Also, any character meals(especially princess meals) I would suggest booking fairly early. CRT breakfast must be booked 90 days out at 7:00am exactly(or you can try to get lucky and snag a cancellation ;) ) Other than those some of the more popular places I can think of off the top of my head are Le Cellier and Ohana. Those I would definitely book asap too.
Im sure other will have more to add to this list for you. :)

We've made 4 for our week. We will eat in the room or at counter service for the rest.

I make one less then the number of nights we are staying. Also, I usually make at least one lunch and one breakfast.

IMHO, you may want to think of eating breakfast a few times at places other then Whispering Canyon. Alot of people enjoy the loud antics, but I don't think I would go that often.

Good point about Whispering Canyon. My wife and kids sleep in late so I figured that was my only option. Maybe I will mix in room service.

Until I know the park hours I have PS arrangements all over the place. Once the park schedules come out and I know what park I'll be at on what day then I'll cancel the PSs I don't need. We do one sit down meal a day and it varies as to if it's a breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Usually two per day, lunch and dinner. We tend to skip breakfast.

We go in July every year and make at least one and sometimes two PS per day. Definitely make them for any restaurant you really want to go to because you may not get in without them. I don't take any chances because we have three small children and the last thing I want to do is be stuck without a nice place to eat with three hungry kids.

I used to be an avid planner, but my family complains. They like to wing it. Thats OK for most restaurants.

If it a busy time I'll still make a few, over all we now eat where they'll take us.

If you want certain times I would say make PS's. Then there's always those few restaurants that are so popular that you must make a PS.

I try to make at least one a day -- just so we're guaranteed one sit down meal. Dh and I are just not fans of quick food -- especially of the WDW variety.

Last year was the first time we ever made them prior to our trip. We made 2 for our 6 night stay. Otherwise we only made two PS one other time and that was made DURING our trip (we made it for the Crystal Palace for breakfast the day before and one for dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table just a few hours before). The two we made last year were for the Hollywood Brown Derby and the Whispering Canyon Cafe. But even without the PS, we found we could have gotten in without a problem. We've never had a problem getting into a restaurant without a PS, but bear in mind that it's just the two of us.
