How many placeholders can you book?

During OBB, I thought you could only book one placeholder for one cruise in your name only and a max of two rooms. But someone replied thusly when the question came up on Facebook. Am I wrong or is she wrong?

“It is my understanding you can purchase more then one, however if they are all in your name they have to be used on the next sailing you book. My MIL has booked one in her name, daughters name and sons name so they can be used on separate sailings (with those kids who are adults).”

That’s what I thought. And you can’t just get placeholders for 50 of your closest friends, right? Just you?

A couple on our sailing that have been on over 20 cruises told is in mixology that they book more than one placeholder at a time. I’ve never heard of that nor attempted to, so I don’t know

Person making the OBB must sail. so you cannot make it for family member's.

I always think there is some confusion around this even in the “one placeholder two rooms” concept, which really requires two $250 deposits even though it is termed as one placeholder - I guess the idea is that the two reservation numbers for each of the two rooms on that “one placeholder” are linked and must be used on the same sailing.

I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if some have had different experiences though.

It is possible that the poster’s MIL was travelling with a daughter or a son when she purchased those placeholders so paid a total of 3 or even 6 deposits, if they all had different addresses. It’s not clear that that poster meant MIL was alone when purchasing.

My husband and I have made placeholders for 2 cabins on a future cruise so our boys could join us. One cabin booked placeholders for 2 cabins on a future cruise.

On a cruise where we had 2 cabins, we could only book 1 placeholder per cabin for a future cruise. The CM said it was because we all had the same address. If we changed our older son’s address to his apartment, we could make an additional placeholder. Very confusing, at least for us!

The way to think of it is every address can make one placeholder and book up to 2 cabins.

Two friends in one room can each book 2 cabins on one placeholder as long as they have different addresses. But if those two friends are roommates on land, they can only book one placeholder with 2 cabins.
