How many photos do you take when on holiday at WDW???

After reading another post here, I've got a couple 2 gig CF cards on order. ;)
The guy at Best Buy talked me into that card.

I have always been paranoid about losing pictures so the first thing that I do after every photo session is dump the photos on to my hard drive and burn a CD. So far (since November) no problems (she says this while crossing legs and all fingers). :rotfl:

Personally I prefer several smaller cards over fewer larger cards. The bigger the card, the more shots you stand to loose.

I lost some great shots at a friend's wedding when the 512 Mb card I was using died a horrible death.

I have only been to WDW once(for 7 nights), I was too much of a kid to really focus on photography. I would say I did not even break 200 photos and they were all family "snapshots" and not really creative.

But We have been Disneyland AP holders for over a decade, I have gone on many trips that involved nothing but taking photos.

Different strokes for...

IMO the chances of a card failing are greatest while swapping it in and out of a camera. And that is not even talking about accidental drops or losing a lose card, or even bent pins which is about as common as a solid state card failing. Cards are safest while in the camera, and if I had a choice I would only remove and insert cards into my cameras while sitting at my desk.

Right now I will not shoot with a card smaller than 2gb, but prefer 4gb since I shoot raw and 2gb only allows about 250 shots.

i havent been to WDW in a while, but in one day at Tokyo Disneyland i took about 500 shots (no kids with me). one day at HK Disneyland i took about 400 shots (daughter with me), and 3 days at Disneyland & California Adventure i took about 1000 shots (all 3 kids & my sister's kids there one day).

fwiw i've had one old lexar 64mb card go bad about 7 years ago. since then i've never had a card failure. i did accidentally lose an empty off the sydney harbour bridge 2 weeks ago :( i also shoot raw so i use large cards and a p2000 for offloading.

I was about to post the exact thought, I agree card failure is at it's greatest when swapping cards,

I have 1- 2 gig, and 2 -1 gig cards in addition to a 4 gig microdrive, that I purchased with my A2, befoe I heard of the frailty of microdrives...

any card I purchase in the future will be 2 gig or greater... :thumbsup2

last year we took almost 4000 pics in 11 days during christmas.we took 2 512 MB memory cards and a portable picture hard drive. christmas + 50th anniversary makes for great pictures. i still need help with nite pictures. :thumbsup2

our last trip was 9 days at wdw, 5 days at vero disney... i took 10 rolls of 36 each film so 360, really i hardly took any at wdw maybe 3 rolls cause my camera was acting up and i was too busy doing other stuff.

i've taken probably 3 times that in the 3 days i've had my rebelxt so i think i'll take lots more next trip ;) (I've filled a 512 card a number 3 0r 4 times at the second from best jpeg setting and i think i was getting about 300 a card)

Photos developed for a 10 day stay was aprox. 1800
What I actually took :confused3 I Have no idea because I would delete any I didn't want in the evening when we got back to our roomdefinately over 2000 :cool1:

so seriously, how much time did you spend behind the camera? were a lot at one time like fireworks? just trying to figure out since it seems like taking so many( i asked this once before and some people posted like 4000!!!!)all you'd be doing is taking pictures. are they mostly snapshot type things? or rapid fire ...just figuring out is my useage would significantly change to the 4 digits or not

For fireworks, at least in my short time experience, you don't need to take that many shots if you already picture the shots in your mind. Looking back at all my trips, I just realized that I've never taken more than 40 shots for each fireworks session (one session per trip)

Mine were of absolutely everything:

Our family(with 4 kids plus 10 days of doing so much at WDW added up to a ton of pics); foliage(I love different, unusual trees  ) and landscaping; characters and parades; building interiors, angles and designs; shelves of stuffed Disney animals, fireworks(got a couple of amazing pics I am very proud of), castle, castle and more castle

It really does not take much at all to accumulate this many pics~~every night I downloaded at least one of my 3 -512MB cards onto photo CD.

My camera went everywhere with us and no I did not spend my entire time behind the camera ;)

Absolutely anything and everything to help preserve the memories!

We downloaded all on to our computer and now have them as a slideshow screensaver, it's fabulous! You would not believe how often my family is casually passing the computer when a picture catches their eye! The next thing you know they are "glued" to the screen scrolling through pics with the most wonderful smile on their faces. :goodvibes :goodvibes

ETA: This was my very first and only(so far ;) ) digital camera, I was in total awe!! I got it 2 weeks before we went and didn't think I would use it, my 35mm wouldn't load film at one point so I grabbed it........needless to say the 35 mm stayed in the room and the digital went everywhere from that point on!

We took 2.99 GB worth at WDW in Jan. We take a laptop with us so we download each night. We were there for 8 days. I would say we did at least 100 per day, maybe 200.

My last trip was a photo trip. We left the kids at home and I took pictures and DW shopped. We also did a lot of other things. Of the 1500 pics I took I deleted over 100 of them after taking it. I had my pic taken with 40 new characters plus 3 or 4 others I already had (60 total pics w/characters between myself and DW). A few of those were taken twice (2 different angles ie: portraite and landscape). I photographed Wishes twice and also took a few pics at Illuminations (88 total; 8 at Epcot and avg 40 each of Wishes). I also took detailed pics of the Castle which I hadn't done in previous trips. I took a lot of night pictures at MK and Epcot. When your solo you can take some extra time and look at something then photograph it from a few different angles or with a few different exposure settings. Basically you can afford to stop and smell the roses. I still went on the rides and looked in shops and ate and drank and took in all there is to take in. I would say though, that if we did have the kids I probably wouldn't have taken as many, but then again I like to take pictures so if the kids do something I'll take a pic of it. I actually would probably take the same amount, but they would be of different things. Instead of taking 15 or so upclose pictures of the castle I might take 4 or 5 pics of the kids in the Winnie the Pooh playground and 4 or 5 in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. Not to mention how many more character pictures.

With my APS in 1999 we took about 225 pictures in 8 days at WDW and Daytona USA, or 9 rolls of film.

This year we had a P+S digital and had 1.2gb of memory ( 2 512mb cards and 1 256mb card) for our 5.0 Kodak C340. We took about 870 photos at WDW and SeaWorld and 1 short video at Lights, Motors, Action.

Slightly OT, I made the mistake of purchasing a 50 page/100 photo album at WDW and had to narrow down the choices of my favorites for sharing. It was not easy - the first try I picked over 200, but I did manage to scale back to 100 to share as my favorites.

We were lucky enough to make 4 trips to WDW in 2005/2006. We averaged almost 1000 digital pictures each trip.

in may i took around 200 on my digital and 48 from photo pass. i bought the cd cause i could transfer it to my printer

Between three of us, we took about 1200 pictures. Some were bad, but we enjoy them all.
