How many photos can one effectively or realistically put in an album?

My girlfriends and I recently went to Disney for a week long birthday celebration. Between us we took way more then 2500 photos. I am in the process of weeding out and choosing the best ones that tell the stories. I have it down to 920 so far. I might be able to get it down another 50 -70 photos but that’s about it. I thought I was going to be able to choose my favorite 150-200 photos for my scrapbook, with the rest to be put in a slide show. I already know that’s not going to happen. So what do you think? Can I get away with Disney Birthday Bash volume one and volume two?

You will find out that on Disney albums, there is more than one album sometimes more than 2! If you have that many great pics, go for it. You will love it once it is all said and done. Many people on here have more than one volume for their WDW trips.

For my "album" for 2007, I ended up using 2 albums with a total of about 430 pictures.

It really depends on how big you print a lot of your photos. There are great collage ideas where you can get 12-15 photos on a page. I use those often (especially when I'm on photo 15 of the tree of life...sheesh!).

I am one of those with 3 volumes from our last trip to WDW....pick the photos you LOVE!!!

For a five day girls weekend to Disney I ended up using two CM 12 x 12 Disney albums.

We were there for my 30th birthday a couple of years ago for 5 days. I used 2 VERY FULL 12 x 12 CM Albums. Actually, come to think of it, all of my trips since then have been 2 HUGE 12 x 12 albums!

wow that is a ton of pictures...
I am no longer a scrapper who scraps everything...so for me I just hit the highlights of the trip and that's that...then do a slide show.
So for me I would only need one album. I actually try to do a 2 page spread per day! :) And then if we do something extra special, character meal etc...that would get it's own spread.
But we also were going to Disney yearly...so after awhile I didn't take as many pictures of the tree or castle etc....

We went to Disney World for the first time in October for 8 days - I ended up with 4 albums, 1 for each park! :rotfl:
ANd I still eliminated about 700 pictures. haha

I found that once I'd weeded down my pictures and started scrapping, that I ended up weeding down even more. I'd pull my dining pictures, for example, and as I started to work with them I'd realize that some just weren't as good compared to the others I was using, or that I just didn't feel the need to record everything in such detail. I also ended up cropping bunches really small and making collages. Another fun idea is to cut them down to fit in slidemounts or as little 2x2 squares and use them as decorative elements on a page.

I went to Oregon this summer and printed 700+ pictures. I have about 92 double pages that are 12x12. Some have three on a page, some have 10. I put them into two books and they are heavy!

My craziest Disney trip needed three 12x12 books. I've also color blocked an entire album and got 500 pictures on about 35 double pages complete with titles, journaling, and embellishments.

Believe it or not, I didn't take a single picture of the tree of life. The photopass guy did take one of us with it in the background though. This being a milestone birthday for me and a first trip for one of the girls, many many stories developed during the time. Those are the main things I want to make sure get scrapped. I have pages and pages of journaling that needs to be included too. I just got word that one of the girls has another 100 or more photos to add to the mix. Somehow they got deleted when she was making CD copies for the rest of us. Oh boy.
