No but I was stuck by one today. I gave blood at work
I donate very regularly and sure do appreciate a good sticker- bad "spindly" veins here.
Good Luck!!
I've been on coumadin since 1974 which means regular monitoring of my blood. Once I find a phlebotomist that I like, I stick to them like glue. Also, when DDs 13 and 15 need blood draws, even though it means extra driving distance, I take them there as well.
DH has been trained to draw bloods-- though not certified. He's an EMT in the Emergency room and it's part of his job. He said it was really hard to get used to "sticking people" at first. He didn't want to hurt them.
I started out as a phlebotomist and eventually went for a nursing career. Worked in a hospital out of the chemistry department. I would do the lab work for all admissions. Eventually ended up working for a private physician. Loved that job. Then after a few years with the doctor I realized that I wanted to be a nurse.
Several years back when I worked in a drs office I used to draw blood. I always liked doing it and I was pretty good. We had lots of elderly patients with rolling veins and many on coumadin so they came in often.
lol the part about noticing peoples veins. I still do and havent drawn blood in years.
