How many people will stay off property and/or vacation elsewhere?

Will Disney's new packages/lack of discounts affect you?

  • No. I'll go anyway.

  • Yes. I will stay off property instead. If Disney won't reward loyal guests like me, the heck with

  • Yes. I will vacation elsewhere and Disney won't get a single dime from me.

And I doubt the Air Force would have you...

Welcome to the DIS THEMEPORK.

Sad to see that, once again, a decent thread has ended up as a bickering fest. If that is what you are looking for, there is a place for it at the Debate board. I just don't understand the pleasure that some get in baiting others into arguments, name calling, etc. This is supposed to be a board for information. WildArcticMan asked a perfectly plausible question, and this it what it turns in to?

Everyone has their own opinions, they have been stated.. perhaps we can move on now?

Thank you, eeyore. A Disney board is hardly the place for ad hominems. Actually, I can't think of any place that is!

The Disney boards are no different than any other boards. People are highly opinionated, so topics such as smoking on property, chair saving at the pools, hanging laundry on the balcony, availability of discount codes, etc., elicit strong responses. When they get out of hand, a Mod usually closes the thread. Other than someone innappropriately insulting the armed forces, this thread is tame compared to some I've visited in my 4 years here. If you think this is rough, stay away from the Debate board. You may have a heart attack.

Tigger - that's why I stay away from the debate board. :) I'm not against heated debates; I just don't choose to participate in them on a Disney board. That's not why I'm here.

Just a local perspective. See all the hotels around Disney as you entered WDW? They do very well and have for years. New units coming online every year. We stayed off site for years until the FL rate was an inducent to stay at WL in July. We are going back for a quick weekend getawy next month. When the rates go back to normal we will have no prpblem going back off site as well.

How wonderful for you. Perhaps WDW should offer discounts to those who bring their own magic.
AP'ers have every right to complain. In the past, Disney has used discounted rooms as an incentive to sell AP's. What if you paid full admission price to the Magic Kingdom only to find most of the major rides were shut down for rehab? Although Disney is within its rights to do this, wouldn't you complain?

Just because someone find magic in WDW doesn't mean you have to get nasty. I've been going to WDW since it opened and have always found it magical whether I pay rack rate or get a discount. I am an AP holder and do not expect any discounts as none were ever promised to me. I won't complain if WDW sees fit to give others discounts as that is their right. I also find it hard to believe that some of the folks on this board say they wouldn't be angry if WDW had just told them straight up that there would be no AP discounts this time. You would find even more whining then what is here now. If everyone booked what they were willing to pay, not what they can afford or cannot afford, but what they want to pay, then they wouldn't be complaining as much. When you have people booking at a cost they never wanted to put out in the first place and then not getting the deep discounts they think they are entitled to then all the whining starts. To them I say go offsite and be happy!

Nick and Cindy--I love those graphics!! Too cute and an apt editorial comment as well.

Let's allow people to state their opinion without making personal attacks when it differs from yours.

This topic originally started as a very good thread, but has escalated into a cat fight. Please refrain from arguing and name calling. It is fine to disagree, and people are entitled to their opinions, and no one is going to change that by what has transpired here. Please, if you can not say something nice....
