How many people here

I haven't, and by the resounding silence in answer to your question - maybe not many others have either! ;)

I haven't rented any points from another member but have just successfully rented out point to someone from US.

It worked very well - Chris and his family got a vacation that was relatively inexpensive (at least the lodging part anyway, LOL) and I got what I felt was a fair return.

Now, what to do with 22 points in a holding account? hmmm.

Sue's Mum - I've just put out some points to rent via these boards. Any tips for making it go smoothly, or did you rent to someone you already knew?

Hi Becky, no tips here I'm afraid. My renter was a guy from Louisana who responded to a post of mine on the rent/trade board and I don't think he is a DVC member. He set up a PayPal account which was not completely set up before he left for his vacation and so he paid after his vacation was completed, which is probably not the best method of doing business! However, he is a really nice, genuine guy and I trusted him implicitly. There obviously has to be an element of trust for both sides of the bargain.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I'm giving it a go with these points that will expire in June and I just can't use them before then, so this is the only option to get any benefit from them. But if it does go pear-shaped I'll just have to make sure that I use all my points in future!

I am currently going through renting some points for our 2004 trip. I used most of my points (including 2005) for a 7 day cruise plus 2 nights in a 2 bed BWV. I needed a studio for our arrival day plus another 2 bed BWV night so booked with cash. I then found someone renting points @ $10 per night so have rented 46 points to cover the cash nights which works out at $460 instead of $834. With the exchange rate of $1.82 it is just over £250.

I signed up with Paypal to pay for the transaction and the renter made the booking in my name with DVC. I will swap the cash bookings for these when they are confirmed.
