I know this is an odd question but I've started my packing already (we leave March 26th) and I'm wondering how many pairs of pant to pack? I'm assuming that the weather in late March/ early April will be nice (I've read the Hydroguys weather thread), I have about 10 pairs of shorts and tee shirt packed for each of us but how many pairs of pants/sweaters should be safe? We are driving for 2 days (each way) and will be in the parks 11 days. Any help would be great...sorry for the odd question :rolleyes1

Good question! We'll be getting there the 27th and I'd love to know as well.

Coming from Canada you might be able to handle colder weather better than SoCal weather wimps like me. :rotfl: Unless there was a big heat wave I would probably be wearing pants the whole time, but again - weather wimp. I would bring maybe 2 pairs depending on what the weather was looking like. Right before you leave check the weather and adjust the number of pants depending on what the forecast says. A few years ago it snowed at our house in April and I only live an hour from Disneyland. I know it wasn't snowing in Anaheim but it must have been somewhat cold (probably wouldn't seem that cold to a Canadian though).

It also depends on if you think you'll want to wear pants at night. It can get a little chilly in the evenings.

Always better to be safe than sorry. Last March the forecast for the week we were there was for 60 degrees day & 40 degrees at night. So we brought mainly pants & only 2 pairs of shorts. When we arrived in Anaheim it was 95 degrees!!! We were dying! So I would plan for hot & for cold. You could always use sweats with shorts underneath & then you'd be set. Plan for warm days & cool nights. Also, bring extras just in case of rain....no one wants to put on wet pants to go back out.......
Good luck, Have a great trip!!

I am assuming that you will not have access to any laundry facilities while you are there? If so, then that would cut down considerably on the amount of clothes to pack.

When we visit DL (usually in March or Sept), I usually wear capri pants during the day and usually jeans at night. If it's warm enough in the day, then capris are perfect for a little air flow on the ankles! But if it's colder during the day, I may just bundle up with a sweatshirt and tennis shoes and that helps keep me warm even if my ankles are exposed.

When we'd go back to the room to clean up for dinner, I would change into jeans. So I wouldn't necessarily need a clean pair of jeans for every day since I was only wearing them for a few hours at night.

I'd probably pack about 8-10 pairs of pants, assuming you could wear them more than once. My husband is the worst when it comes to this. I think on our last trip to DL, he packed about 20 shirts for a 5 day trip! I think we finally compromised and he "only" brought 12!!! :rotfl:

Wow, that was quite a difference from the forecast. It's always hard to figure out what the weather is like in Spring here because you can have really cold (like the snow we had that one April) or it can be hot like you experienced. It's just so hard to tell and sometimes it changes quickly with no warning.

But honestly, I can't imagine packing 10 pairs of shorts and 10 pairs of pants. In fact, I don't even own 10 pairs of pants (or shorts)! lol That just seems like a lot to pack. Like a PP said, if you're going to just wear the pants at night then you can wear them more than once to get more use out of them. Either that or I would do some laundry at some point. I know, not fun to do laundry on vacation but it would cut down on how much you need to bring.

You know what.......you're right!!! I don't own 10 pairs of pants either. Wait, let me re-phrase that......I don't own 10 pairs of pants that all FIT me right now! :rotfl2:

I think I'd check to see if your hotel has a laundry facility. A lot of them do.

That said, I'm a bit of a cold wimp these days too. I grew up where it gets cold, but since I've lived in Phoenix for seven years now, I get cold more easily. We'll be there 3/26-3/29 and I plan to bring 3 pair of pants. It'll depend on the weather forecast as to if any of those are my capris. I usually wear my jeans twice before I wash them so that should work wll for me. I also usually wear my yoga pants for the drive though. Anyway, since ours is a short trip, we'll take one outfit more than the days we'll be there. Just in case.

:lmao: Oh, well if we're counting pairs of pants that don't fit then maybe I do have 10 pairs! :rotfl:

I think I'll settle on four. Our hotel does have laundry available, but I like to be prepared just in case. Oh btw, I don't have 10 pairs either....but the kids do ;) .
Is the weather in April compareable to November? When we went in 2007 it was hot when we were there and we packed so many pants and not enough shorts.

It's so hard to tell what the weather will be like during the transition between spring and summer. It's possible it could be really cold (by SoCal standards) or we could have a heat wave and it could be hot! Same for november. This year november was so hot and didn't think winter would ever come but other years it's cooler like 50s-60s which i realize might seem really warm to some of you, depending on where you're from. :goodvibes

1 adult
3 pair of jeans, 2 capri's,[absolutely NO short shorts, No white shorts!! wet a pair and see how see thru they are!! Do not bring cuffed shorts, the chaffing is much to much!!] tennis shoes, my crocs, medium weight shirts[No light weight see thru when wet shirts DL is a family place], 2 sweat shirts, 1 coat, all the sox and undies you own!! Rain, and water rides can take their toll!!!

And the wash every 5 days!

We pack in Space Bags! I use the travel bags for sox and undies. and and the vaccum of all all the rest to fit in 1 Carry On Bag!!

General Tip: Bring half as much clothes and twice as much money as you think you need.

You can get by wearing most outerwear two or three times, especially this time of year when you're not sweating. It makes the packing so much easier.

I always tend to overpack. Since you're driving, presumably you have a little extra space to bring more clothes than you'll probably need. But in reality, I doubt you'll wear ALL of them. And your hotel might even have laundry facilities (if not, check the hotel next door). But since you've got the space, might as well throw them in! (That's my motto, anyway - drives my husband nuts! :lmao:)

We were there at the same time last year. I am from Washington and am used to a cool spring. There was not one time while in DL that I wished I was wearing shorts. Not once. Granted, that was one year's experience, but I think capri's and layered tops would probably be enough to handle any sort of warmth you are going to experience.

It's been way too long since I've seen :sunny:

Don't forget the pj's I did one time and had to sleep in my clothes! Talk about not having enough pants for the trip after that LOL laundry laundry laundry yuck

:rotfl2: Sorry, that is really funny....but I'm putting it on my packing list.

This seems like a good rule...don't worry no short short's for me ;)

That sounds like something I would do. Actually I have, many times, just never to DL. I'm going to have to be very careful doing my packing this year.

OK, I have always wondered about this. When using vaccum bags to pack, you wouldn't have a vaccum at the hotel so how do you pack to come home??
