When does a property "close?" I know that BLT and AKL are the two being sold now, so at what set point will DVC close these and offer a new property (BTW, what is being built/planned?)? Our bus driver mentioned that Disney has only used 1/3 of their acreage, 1/3 will stay undeveloped and 1/3 TBD. Think they'll ever build true year-round residences?
Thanks.

when they sell all of the pts (the first time). "all of the points" is roughly the number of rooms times the number of pts required to reserve those rooms for the year. (DVC will retain 3% or so of the points for maintenance purposes.)

DVC will still pick up pts through ROFR and foreclosure that they can resell to new buyers or current owners as add-on contracts.

hawaii and the grand californian are the only two other DVC resorts being built/planned.

there is a friendly conflict on the DVC boards as to whether the villas at the grand floridian or villas at the poly might be the next wdw resort planned....none of us really knows, though. (hawaii might not even work out and could be rented as a cash hotel/suites resort only and not a DVC resort...until they start selling point contracts, nothing is guaranteed.

disney tried that with the town of celebration. i haven't read much but it sounds like disney's need to control their product and people's need to feel like they "own" the homes they paid for conflicted pretty strongly.

i doubt they'll build true year-round residences any time soon.

Great -- thanks so much, lots of good info. I forgot about Celebration! Did Disney offload it? Will have to check that out.
