How many or how far into the future are your trips planned?

We've got our general plan through 2016. We are alternating years between inviting friends/family to Disney one year and a week at Vero the next.

We have our next two trips planned-the F&W and accompanying half-marathon; also our Thanksgiving at HHI. I've been thinking about our 2012 trips; when DH gets home from his current business trip next week, hopefully we'll firm up dates and reserve.

We have a trip to WDW planned for this coming November. I know we'll be skipping a trip in 2012 because we will be taking the grands in November 2013 and will need to bank & borrow points for the trip.

Planned non-Disney trips include Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons this August, along with Ireland & Cape Cod next summer. I'm starting to think about a trip for the summer of 2013.

Upcoming trip in 3 weeks!

Tentative trip for VGC July/August 2012

We're still working on 2013. I'd like to do a Christmas trip, but I am not sure if I can go 1 1/2 years between WDW trips :scared1:

We went 3 times within 12 months for this span- got an annual pass. Picked all three trips using the 11 month window for each trip. Last trip for this span will be fall. Now I do not plan on going to disney in the year 2012 or 2013 (let's see if I can stay firm with this). We are banking 2012 points. We want hawaii June 2013 at the 7 month window, using 2012, 2013 and 2014 points. Planning a longish trip cause it will probably the only time we go there. I am free for decisions for disney after that time frame.

We have the next four trips planned, but nothing after April 2012 as I'm out of points until 2013. We also mix a few Northern CA coast trips in as well as camping so we're good for a while. I'm sure I'll get the bug to plan another trip soon after our April trip is completed.

I have BLT booked for fall 2011 which was booked at 11 months and there are 18 of us going. We have Disney fantasy booked for summer of 2012 (we book this on Disney Magic in Oct 2010) and are considering staying the night before at a DVC resort. I am researching going to DL in fall 2012. With the WDW expansion completion, I am hoping to go to see that early 2013.

I am envious of those of you that go more than twice per year. :worship: I'm not sure how you guys keep the planning all straight in your head. The planning is fun though. :)

We are usually planning a year and a half out. Because our DD is in school and we have to tie our vacations to the school calendar, as soon as the school calendars come out, we start with the points allocation. It seems like a long way out to wait, but given that DVC allows us to vacation at the parks (on points) and do a cruise (on cash), we are always only about 6 months away from a vacation. I *heart* my DVC. :goodvibes

I booked our last trip at 7 months out...it is now less than a month away and besides ADR's I really have not "planned" anything:scared1: This is the first time I don't have a little idea of what parks what day, etc. It is pretty bad when I looked at DH last night and said "Oh crap we leave for Disney in less than a month" Too many big planning things for this spring I guess...DD17 had a school trip to Costa Rica, then her first Prom, then her birthday, now my oldest sister gets remarried memorial weekend, 3 neice/nephew granduations and then off to Disney!!!

I have plans through 2014! For a while I was debating on dates for 2012 between Thanksgiving and 4th of July. Well we finally made a choice...June!

After this upcoming trip we want to avoid missing school for WDW. Well my kids have all wanted to visit WDW for their Birthdays, but it's been hard for our oldest. Her Bday is in the spring when Pennsylvania has PSSAs and she really can't miss. So here's what I've worked out through 2014....

Dec. 4 -9 2011 our first xmas trip ever! :santa:
June 10-16 2012 for Ashley's 12th Bday :cheer2:
March 24-29 2013 SPRING BREAK! AND LAUREN'S 15TH BDAY!!:cake: she's so excited!
November 23-29 2014 Thanksgiving, Leah's 5th Bday and Darren's 13th!!!:wave2::pWe are thinking if we have the money we might try DCL instead for November 2014..not sure yet.

I have a crazy paper I figured all the points out on. I got a brain cramp trying to figure it all out. :rotfl: Of course I guessed a little assuming the point charts won't reallocate again. Now typically I'm a resort changer, but I have to resist that temptation. I have this worked out to every last point for our home resorts!

I have a family of 5 and we usually need a year in advance to plan and save. Our biggest part of the planing is usually knowing the school schedule. Have a great trip.

I have plans for my points through 2014. I know some people don't like having to plan 11 months out, I wish I could book more than 11 months out.

I booked reservations for this summers camping trips, the end of last summer. I also have a plan for camping trips the next two summers.

I also have five cruises booked, the furthest one out being April 2013:thumbsup2

Basically we are now at 2 trips a year - 1 at WDW and 1 at HHI. I always make my ressies at 11 months but may call back at 7 months to change to a non-home resort (this year we changed from AKV to OKW). Typically we go to HHI in late Spring or early Summer and WDW Fall or Christmas. At any given time I usually have 2 reservations made and actively planning.

We just joined DVC in April, our travel pattern is every other year for a week in MArch. Since we were given an extra set of point during promotion, we are planning to go for 3 days in CA in 2012, MArch for a week in 2013, Christmas for a week in 2014 and 1 week in 2016 June. :)

Maximizing APs with 3 trips so already booked Dec. 2011 and April 2012--activated my AP in May this year. DH and I will be on different AP schedules, which could get confusing, if he activates his in December--depends on military ticket offerings. Hoping to sneak in a trip before April with DGD for her first visit as well!

We go twice a year and I'm on the phone with DVC at 9:00 on the 11 month mark. We used to have three trips planned more than a year in advance before we bought into DVC. It kills me to have to wait to book.

So far we plan our Disney trips about 18 months in advance, waiting until 11 to actually book. We also do an annual beach vacation (this summer will be 14 in a row! with another family) & expect to continue that tradition for as long as possible. I have it in the back of my head that a 2015 ski trip would be perfect as all the kids will be old enough to participate. Otherwise our trips consist of visits to grandparents and I dream of a spur of the moment adults only trip - but that will likely stay a dream for a while.

Wow....I planned out to Nov 2012 and thought that was kinda far....this is :thumbsup2

I have our vacation to the Amazon booked already and it's 8 months away. I hate booking so far in advance but this is a small boat and when I called to inquire, I discovered there was only one cabin left so I booked it (I had called in January to see about 2011 and they were already sold out).

I hate booking anything this far out. My parents and my inlaws are all in their 80s. Between their ages and my health, it just doesn't make sense to plan that far into the future.

That is why you buy travel insurance.
