How many of you will have turkey again for Christmas dinner?

We usually do Prime Rib but I have done beef tenderloin and just plain old roast beef too. We usually do appetizer food on Christmas Eve and have a bigger meal on Christmas Day.

We have our family get-together on Xmas Eve and do surf and turf, steaks on the grill with bake stuffed shrimp, caesar, veggies, ... and then exchange gifts between all the cousins.

I have my parents for breakfast and stockings in the am and then go to work. My sister has them for lunch and just does appetizers and other light foods and then my brother has them for dinner and his menu varies year to year...often prime rib or lasagna.

If I have enough energy after work and cleaning up the mess at my house from breakfast and gifts, I sometimes stop over for a glass of wine and a prime rib sandwich but most often just watch a movie and have a pizza.

We go to my parents for Christmas and my mom always makes turkey with all the trimmings. Christmas Eve we will be having spagetti or possibly baked rigatoni. Possibly with chicken parm.

We'll have ham and probably the same side dishes as we had for Thanksgiving. :)

No matter if I cook dinner or my brother or mother, it's always been a ham dinner for Christmas.

This year, I proposed to my mother that we do a buffet style meal. I figured between the 3 families, each of us could bring a hot dish, side dish and dessert.

I just need to get some ideas on what to make. I'm thinking sweet/sour keilbasa, meaballs w/sauce and another hot dish. Just don't know what to make for the side dishes.

I am doing turkey and ham. I love the whole traditional meal with the mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole. Nobody else likes it as much as I do so I only get most of these items twice a year! It is only going to be 8 of us this year so it will be really easy. I still haven't broken down and gotten my oven fixed, (long story) so I will be making the dishes at home and farming them out to my DDIL and DM to bake at their homes and just bring.

No turkey on Christmas Day. It is usually a laid back day after a large Christmas Eve celebration. When we do have a formal Christmas we eat Prime Rib or Tenderloin grilled. Apparently Turkey one day a year is one day too many for my husband. I love turkey and would eat it again.

Unless they have turkey on the menu at Jiko, I will not even have the opportunity to have it for Christmas dinner!

We usually have lasagna for Christmas but we're trying to decide what we want to do this year

We eat turkey year round, so we will more than likely smoke or fry another turkey before Christmas.

However on Christmas Eve, we will be having Prime Rib, and on Christmas Day we have a big breakfast and then just have appetizer type food all day long.:goodvibes

We haven't had turkey for Christmas for years- and this year we stopped having it for THanksgiving. LOL None of us like it, our only concession to Thanksgiving food this year was stuffing and gravy.

If all goes according to MY plan, Christmas will just be the girls and me (maybe my mom). Normally, I do Thanksgiving Part 2, but I'm thinking I want to do something different. Perhaps ham and some out of the normal sides. I don't know yet, but I do hope it will be simple, calm, and stress free!

We do ham for Christmas. It is much easier with all else that is going on. Of course, now that I still have 3 turkeys in the freezer, we'll need to have a turkey again soon, maybe for New Years and I'll roast one for my work party.

I'm not sure, yet. Usually DH has to work, so the kids and I just nibble all day long. He's off this year, though, so I'll have to give some thought to it. The kids have been asking for Cornish game hens, so that's a thought. I'm liking all the ideas here, though.

We don't have a dinner on Christmas. We do a big late breakfast and then have people over for a bunch of appetizers and desserts in the afternoon/evening. Some of our friends who have a tradition of having a big meal eat before they come over.

I stopped doing a big meal on Christmas when ds was about 4 and after cooking and getting it to the table, he looked up and asked if he could just have a pb&j and go back to his new toys, lol. Since then it is all just finger foods, served buffet style and everyone brings something. Ex/ rolled up deli meats, tuna/egg finger rolls, cheese crackers, deviled eggs, fruit salad etc etc.
Everyone loves it and says Christmas at our house is the most relaxing.
Christmas eve is just as simple, chinese or pizza with board games and a few drinks then a walk around the neighborhood to look at lights etc

We usually both turkey and ham for both Thanksgiving and Christmas... Yum in turn there is both turkey and ham gravy, my favorite.

Ham, and some "Ukranian soul food," as my grandfather used to call it: Keilbasa and sauerkraut, pierogies, stuffed cabbage. No "studnets" (sp?) in this house, though (jellied pigs feet).

We used to do turkey for both. A few years ago we started doing a beef tenderloin on the grill and never looked back. I'm also hosting New Year's Day and we're doing an all appetizer spread rather than a big meal.

We dont even eat turkey for Thanksgiving, I do a beef Tenderloin with all of the traditional sides for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
