I am going back to WDW for the first time in many years and will not have a young child. I like my crossbody purse but I'm thinking I need something to carry sunblock which isn't something I tend to carry around normally. Besides that just the basics like phone, disposable raincoat etc. Any items you suggest for the parks. My main question is bag recommendation. Thanks

I have a Kipling crossbody that I carry to DLR. It's lightweight, so does not add weight to the things I carry in it. They have many crossbody styles on their website.

Even when we had young kids with us, I typically carried either a really tiny crossbody bag (just big enough to hold my phone and a few other little things or a slightly larger crossbody bag that held about 5 pounds of stuff we *never* needed in the parks but I hauled around "just in case". Then I got tired of dealing with the long lines at the security tables so I started going bagless -- if it didn't fit in my pockets, we didn't need it or we knew we could buy it in the parks. Then when they changed security several years ago, I started carrying my little tiny crossbody bag again. A few years ago, I bought this bag and have been using it in the parks.

(if the Amazon link doesn't work, it's called a Telena Sling Bag). I found this bag to be comfortable to wear because I don't overload it and it has a nice wide strap so it's not digging into my shoulder. It has two large zippered pockets and is easy to access while wearing it (I always wear it so the bag is on my chest, but you could wear it on your back as well). It's actually a little bigger than I really need and I'm not sure if I'll use it on our upcoming trip in May or switch back to my smaller bag. I do think it's a good size for people who tend to carry more things to the parks than I do, but not a backpack full of stuff. I take my phone, a poncho, a small pack of tissues, a lip gloss, a few band-aids, a travel size sunscreen bottle (I just fill it up every morning before we leave the room), some cash, ID, and our Disney credit card. If we're planning an afternoon break, I don't even take the sunscreen with me. If I wasn't concerned about my phone falling out of my pocket on rides, I'd probably go back to not using any bag.

I just replaced my park backpack and sling. My suggestion is to go somewhere like TJ maxx or Ross where they sell lots and lots of bags and browse. I bring a water bottle with me and stuff it into the bag to gauge space haha

My backpack is mainly for snacks and I leave it with my stroller when we go on rides and only bring the sling. If I don't have the stroller, I just carry the snacks in a plastic bag and when we're done with the snacks, I stuff the plastic bag back in the sling. Since you can bring a bag on almost every disney ride, the bag size is not a huge problem (vs universal where you have to make sure your bag will fit in a locker).

Since you mention sunblock...here's my unsolicited advice: make sunblock as easy for you to use as possible. Maybe that's tube form or stick form or roll on. My family does best with a small container which is disgusting because we are all dipping into the same container but it works!

I have a comfy backpack with padded shoulder straps. Water bottle, snacks, raincoat, charging cord & power bank go inside. Plus if I make any purchases I can toss inside. Also layers of clothes if I need (or don't need them).

If you can find a Loungefly at a Disney Character Warehouse… pick the one that best suits you. They’re small enough for the items you need-and allots a bit of space for some items you end up getting in park.

When we go all together as a family- I tend to bring my fave small LLBean lightweight nylon backpack. Otherwise, I do a small crossbody but if I want some throwaway rain gear- then always the backpack.

I have a couple of Vera Bradley crossbody bags - similar to the Zip Hipster I see on the website just now. They're fairly lightweight and carry my phone, sunglasses (when I take them off indoors), and everything else I need for the day. I like the multiple pockets that let me organize stuff.

I am a fan of the Ameribag Healthy Back Bag for park days. A xsmall is big enough for my essentials.

I'm a huge fan of Le Sportsac crossbody bags. They are incredibly lightweight and I can even throw it in a washing machine and let it air dry if need be. I routinely carry a small wallet, phone, sanitizer, sunblock and a poncho in the bag. They are very durable and they occasionally do collabs with Disney so you may even be able to find a Disney specific one on ebay if that interests you. Otherwise they come in all kinds of colors on their website.

Just for sunblock? If you aren’t particular you can get a mini travel size sun block for in park that will fit in your bag of choice.
I use a particular sunscreen, which I have never found in a mini travel size. However, I can get a regular size bottle at Publix when I do a grocery stop on the way to the hotel. So I now buy an empty mini travel bottle at Walmart and take that with me. I add sunscreen to it every morning while on vacation. I keep it in a ziploc bag in my tote bag, because sometimes the tops on those bottles pop open.

I used to use a backpack, had 2 (one a Vera Bradley). Not a huge backpack but adequate when my daughter was younger. My shoulders and back started to bother me. My backpack(s) weren't heavy. I didn't like that I had to always take it off to get something out. Wouldn't recommend Vera Bradley because of the material. Not ideal in rain. Started using crossbody. LUG and Bagallini. I've used them the longest. My last trip I switched to a sling (found on Amazon). I like the I don't have to take it off for rides. It is smaller than my crossbodies.
