Hi, just curious how many DVCers book studios when the trip is just for 2 people. We have usually have stayed in 1 or 2 BR's because we have brought our girls and extended family, but since our girls are now in college, the next couple trips are just going to be DH and myself. I would like to just book studios for us, but I am worried about space (and DH's snoring):rotfl: What do you guys do? Thanks!:goodvibes

DW and I stayed in studios almost always. The only times we do not is when we are having guests with us. We have no troble with any space issues and feel very comfortable in a studio.
You may miss the kitchen and laundry room. Depending on the length of stay, plan a day at the resort pool and do any laundry then. Check other posted threads for things PP have done about cooking within a studio.

We are in the same boat. For our next trip I have us booked in a studio for the first night and then we move into a 2bd since extended family will be joining us. This will be the test for me. My husband snores (me too! I've been told.) We also will be dealing with my dh switching from sleeping days to nights. That creates a problem with him waking up at 2am and wanting to watch tv, which then wakes me up. And since he works nights we don't usually sleep together.

For the one night it should be ok, but for a whole week I would want the 1 bd so we have a living room and kitchen. It feels more like home and not like staying in a hotel room.

Our friends always get the studio and think it's great. We have the points and are able to get the larger unit.

How about trying out both this trip. Start with the studio.

DH and I always book a 1 bedroom because we feel it lends an entirely different experience to our vacation. If we bring another couple we book a 1 bedroom for them as well so they can have the same home-away-from-home vacation. We have been DVC members for about 11 years so the resort is every bit as important to us as the parks. Those who are newer to DVC may spend much more time at the parks, so I can see that a studio may be okay for them.

We usually book 1 bdrm because we take the kids with us...however, when we book Hawaii it will be just the two of us. We plan on booking a studio but for a longer stay.

Depends a LOT on the two of you. DH is the greatest guy on the planet, but he is a total night person. I like to see the sun come up. I do our vacation planning, and all our solo trips as a couple have been in a 1 bedroom. I wake up, quietly close the bedroom door, start the coffee pot and open the curtains. Or go out on the balcony. I can't imagine a vacation without that freedom, and the ability to let him sleep without being disturbed:rotfl2:until 9 or 10 most days. Which never happens at home since we have doggies....So having the space is what makes it a vacation for me. And the king sized bed. And the jacuzzi. :stitch::eeyore:

Since we joined DVC last year, we are point poor (we need a few years and a few add ons!). Right now, if its just the two of use we book a studio, but we hope in the next 3-5 years to triple our points, and may no longer book studios.

The past few years in December DH and myself have been making a trip with just the 2 of us. No DD, no DD friends and no other family and we love it!! We have been staying in studios each time and have no problem with space or even having to share the same TV, I know BIG sacrifice!!

It is so great to make a 5 night trip to the lovely WDW for 45-60 pts...that is awesome and good value for our points. I say...go for it....:cool1:

mainly just two of us and we always stay in a studio. I have never felt uncomfortable...but then again I don't have to worry about snoring

Its just the two of us as we are DINK's and we always book a 1 bedroom, but our next trip in May we just booked a studio so we shall see if its big enough ??

Up to this point we have always stayed in a 1 or 2 bedroom but will soon have our first stay in a studio. We added on points this year and if we stay in a studio for one trip we can go twice. We will stay in a studio for one trip and a larger unit for our fall trip. My DH snores and I have found earplugs are my best friend! We also are on different schedules but he will probably get up early and go out for coffee while I sleep in. I am really going to miss the jacuzzi and the big shower but hopefully it will be worth it to go twice per year! Beach Club here we come!

We have been empty nesters now for 2 years and we still do a 1 BR. We stayed in a studio 1 time and that was enough. We just love the extra room, but we are pretty spoiled since we stay at OKW most of the time anyway. Love our OKW resort.

We usually reserve a studio for short trips without the rest of the family. This next trip we will be in an one bedroom. Will let you know if we can go back to a studio.

No, we always book a 1 bedroom, and if we have a third person, it's a 2 bedroom. We do occationally use a studio night here and there sometimes on either end of a trip, but even then it is likely to be at AKV concierge.

DVC studios are fine when it is just DW and I traveling.

I say that now that I have had a taste of the Ko Olina Marriott beside the new Disney Aulani complex on Oahu. The studio at the Marriott had two (2) drawers under the TV stand and had no table/chairs in the room. We were forced to live out of our suitcases (thast were on the couch) and had no place to “dump our stuff” after the adventure of the day, other than the couch beside the bed, which meant seating was difficult. The balcony was so small that the two chairs placed there blocked your ability to get to the railing that was 30” away from the door.

This is not meant to bash all Marriott facilities, but the experience has allowed us to we appreciate the spaces offered in the DVC Studios much better now!

I have to be very honest here. I've stayed in a studio twice with DH and we are so spoiled by the 1br that we never booked one again. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the studio but we just love having all that space. And yes; when DH is snoring up a storm, it really helps to have somewhere to run!! :rotfl:

While I don't mind a studio, I really prefer a one bedroom. We don't cook while on vacation and need only a coffee pot. We'll occasionally re-heat leftover so the microwave is fine. I do miss the washer/ dryer but have found the laundry facilities at the resorts to be fine. We stayed 9 nights last year in a studio and have a 9 night stay booked for 2011, also in a studio. It's an excellent way to conserve points for that future big trip. I would never have more than 2 adults in a studio, any more than that and we would have larger accommodations

We don't stay as long as some people, I guess, because for a long weekend or even up to 5 or 6 nights, DH and I do fine in a studio. We do have a fair number of points, and we do like to go often. If I'm with friends, and there's 3 of us, then I get a 1 bedroom.

When it's the 2 of us, we always book a studio. When family comes with us (the same dates) we book something bigger. When family arrives mid trip, we stay in a studio and book another studio for them. We really try to avoid switching mid-trip. When the grandkids comes with us, (like our trip this coming weekend) we do really try to make sure we have a bigger unit for the kitchen, napping area, and washer and dryer.

If I have a point shortage and an unexpected 2 day trip comes up, I'll do a studio but it's very seldom and I won't stay in a studio for more than 2 days. My typical stays are 4 to 5 days and I can't be couped up in a studio that long. I sleep very little and I like to get up early and I don't want to disturb anyone else, so if it's just DS(14) and I then it's a 1 bd. We almost always bring our friends with us (adds 2 or 3 more to the resv.) it's a 2bd. DVC has spoiled me and I've grown use to the added living room space, the laundry room & kitchen.

I just want everyone to be comfortable, including myself!
