Greetings all!! Coming to yas LIVE from Walt Disney World! Just wanted to drop in and say hi. Trip has been great so far. Nice weather. No rain. Warm with cool winds daily.

The Polynesian is nice. Great view of the castle and wishes EVERY night. Concierge lounge is really nice. Lots of food offerings.

The only thing I can't get over is it just isn't Wilderness Lodge. The CMs on the 7th floor there seem to be MUCH more outgoing and friendly. Wish they would come out of the shell they are in here. Something seems to be missing.....

Anyway, we are doing Magic Kingdom then heading over to AK for Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade in the afternoon. Tonight, MGM is open 3 hours after closing for resort guests. My buddy and I are heading over to get our ride kicks taken care of. :)

I will drop in and say hi again soon as time allows.

Magic and PD for you all from WDW!

Fred

Fred... wonderful to hear from you! I am glad you are enjoying yourself! You have been "spoiled" by the WL Concierge staff I guess, ;) ! Well, that only means one thing.... start planning another trip!

Enjoy the rest of your stay and keep us posted!

Hi Majestic!!

Thanks for stopping by! Glad your trip is going so well.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

And glad the Poly is tolerable....:teeth:

Hi all,

Just wanted to give you an update on DS. DH and I are home from the hospital for a few hours while MIL is with the baby. He is getting better and was even allowed out of his oxygen tent this morning. Slowly he is getting back to his old self and this morning was even walking back and forth tapping himself on the head and saying "DOH!" Doctor came in early this morning and said tomorrow he would have another chest x-ray and if it looks ok he'll be able to come home either tomorrow or Thursday. He is still kind of breathing hard but nothing like it was Sunday or even yesterday. THANK YOU EVERYONE for your prayers and kind words!!

Floridafam-I know you'll be leaving SOON for your trip. Have a great time! We'll be there soon and with everything that's been going on I'm looking forward to it more than I was....IF that's possible! ;)

Thanks again to everyone!

luckywife,

Hang in there. Everything will be back to normal in no time. Thank goodness for MIL's. My MIL sat in a rocking chair all night with our DD when she was in the hospital so we could go home and get a few hours rest. Make sure you give her a big hug from all of us.

::yes::

We'll continue to keep DS in our thoughts.

It looks like we are leaving a day early. We need to get out of here and start our vacation! :sunny:

OK, OK, I'm back & sort of normal again, so I guess it's time to get my "homework" done. (Please don't deduct points for lateness, #1hockeymom!)

Well, the Poly was horrid, we will never go there again!
Nah, just kidding - it was wonderful as always. We had a couple of problems with mousekeeping, which we also had in November, but both Kathys in concierge went to bat for us and got everything straightened out. We also noticed the rough towels that WoodysRU mentioned - ours were scratchy, too, and irritated DH's sensitive skin, but Kathy #1 had towels sent up from the pool, and these were softer for some reason.

We were a little nervous our first afternoon because the lounge looked like a tornado had hit it - candy strewn everywhere, used dishes and garbage left all over, but it was cleaned up by the time we stopped for our pre-MK chocolate chip cookie. Extra extra kudos to the lounge CMs, especially Ivette, who maintained their cheery dispositions. It seemed like a different sort of guest at the Poly this time; for the first time we saw some of the "me-first" pushiness and lack of manners that have been cited on other threads - lots of rushing to be first in the food line and one guy who daily would stuff several PB&J roundwiches in his bag before leaving the lounge (usually after eating a couple first, washed down with a cup of beer. Yuck!). The CMs deserve tons of credit for dealing with the mayhem with a smile. We actually heard one guest loudly berating a lounge CM because "lunch" wasn't out yet and it was after noon. When the CM patiently explained that the noon service wasn't really intended as lunch, the guest went ballistic about how much she paid for concierge and what a scam it was. We noticed more of this type of behavior throughout the parks, too, so maybe it was a time-of-year thing or something. Anyways, that's the bad stuff. (Well, that and a pinched nerve suffered Fri. after a really bad massage at GF spa)

The good stuff: Every CM we dealt with was terrific - esp. both Kathys in concierge, Ivette in the lounge, and Jay & John from the Epcot tech department. When we presented Kathy #1 with a "thank you" note, we started chatting about magical moments and why we think it's important to acknowledge the really good CMs, even for what they might consider routine service. Kathy offered to forward thank you's or pictures or whatever to the CMs we'd missed thanking through their inter-mail system. This is definitely something to keep in mind for the future.

We spent part of this trip gathering info for our potential part-time move to central FL, and every CM we mentioned this to went out of their way to answer questions, give advice, offer assistance, etc. We came home with so many e-mail addresses & offers of help it filled a whole manila envelope. It occurred to me that what I truly love about Disney is that it really feels like a small town - safe, friendly, clean...

We had a wonderful, magical night at MK on Weds. - stayed until midnight (way past our usual bedtime!) for the extended magic evening - practically walked on to every attraction with no wait. DH had a record score of 736,000 on Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger Spin. He's been trying to beat my record 589,000 for a year! Breakfast at CP Thurs. with Pooh & friends, then on to Epcot. DH survived Mission Space yet again! He seems to be overcoming his motion sickness with practice. Nice dinner at Teppanyaki, though not as excellent as in March. Family of 4 seated with us didn't get the concept of teppanyaki dining; they were pretty unfriendly and demanding (must have been yankees!) - I'm a northerner, but many years of vacationing in SC as a child left Dixie in my heart! Our other tablemates, 2 brothers from Birmingham, were charming and fun once we got them talking. I think they might have us talked into trying the Swan or Dolphin some time. Spa visit on Fri. not very good (see above) and DH doesn't even want to talk about his golf game, but the rest of the day was fun - AK for a few hours, then some chillin' by the volcano pool and back to MK in the PM, a little patio sitting before bed so we could enjoy the castle changing colors. More MK on Sat., very crowded so we mostly just strolled and people-watched. Did our traditional last monorail ride followed by a very good dinner at Boma before leaving for the airport, but it felt weird not to be leaving from the Poly.

We never did run into KerryL or Fred (I know he had a wedding on his arrival day, which was our departure day) - can't wait to hear about their trips.

MIL just informed us last night that she wants to join us for our fall trip, so now I really have to get planning!

So glad your DS is on the mend, luckywife. They do bounce back amazingly well.

Good luck to your DH, floridfam

Thanks for all the welcome backs - it made coming home so much easier!

Howdy all!

Couple of questions if you don't mind!

I've heard that you often have to contact the concierge yourself instead of waiting for them. I don't want to miss the 90 day "window" on a couple of important PS's (a/k/a, Cindy's). Is there an email that I could contact them? (Staying at CR)

Also, **gasp** never been to Illuminations in my upteen trips to WDW. Hate waiting around, so was thinking about booking one of their cruises. Do I have my info correct, 2 types of boats, pontoon and Breathless? Could they pick us up & return us to the dock at CR? If these don't work out, is there another way to view Illuminations w/out standing around for an hour beforehand?

Thanks!

luckywife - Sounds like your little DS is on the road to recovery - very, very good news!:teeth:

Fred - Glad you're enjoying the Poly! Isn't that MK view incredible?! Have a great vacation and safe trip home!!:wave2:

miller2000 - Welcome! I laughed out loud when I read your "scam" comment!;) We're such a suspicious culture!:teeth:

steveanddonna - What a wonderful trip! You had a few glitches, but rolled with it, that makes everything so much better, IMO!

Kimberle - Welcome! Yes, you definitely should contact IPO, sometimes they don't get your info from CRO right away. I don't have the number or email for CR, but Bambi should be along this evening, or maybe WoodysRoundup knows the #. And, somebody else will have to answer about the Illuminations cruises, never done one! But, I don't usually wait for an hour, we can usually find a nice spot within a 1/2 hour or so of the show. It's easier to do that at Epcot than MK, it seems to me.:sunny:

Kimberle,

We did an Illuminations cruise last year and thought it was well worth it.

They picked us up at the YC Resort dock. We were on a pontoon boat that was very comfortable and our driver was very friendly.

The cost was $120 and we tipped. We had one scheduled for our firs night through the IPO office but had to cancel on our way to Florida because we knew we wouldn't make it in time.

We were able to secure another one the morning after we checked in for that evening. The concierge staff at the YC helped arrange this.

They will not be able to pick you up at CR since Illuminations is at Epcot. They only pick up from the Epcot resorts.

:D

Can anyone help me with Concierge or IPO contacts for Boardwalk Inn CL?

Hello to all the Lounge Lizards!!!

mom_rules...IPO's number for BWI/YC/BC CLs is
407-934-1448. :sunny:

Kimberle...I never wait for them to contact me. I always initiate contact with the CL IPO's in order to get introduced to them, talk to my favorite planners, iow...establish a relationship with them before our trip.
I find doing this assures more requests are met and certain magical momnets happen!;)

I was able to score the Grand 1 cruise before all the other poor souls got up early in the am to try to get it on Father's Day.
Same for those Princess breakfasts and California Grill, etc.

All I did was put all my requests in before the 90 day mark.
CR IPO is shared with GF, but their email is
wdw.comtemporary.concierge@disney.com

and phone number is 407-824-1775.

Specialty cruises are a wonderful way (and a different way) to enjoy Illuminations and Wishes! Floridafam told you the correct information for the Illuminations cruises, but also be warned that not all pontoon boats hold 10-12. Some only hold 6-8.
So, make it known how many will be on the cruise and you'll be assigned a boat for your size.
You can have a nice dinner at YC/BC or the BW and then, meet your boat at YC or BW.
:boat:

floridafam...shaved the legs? well, it's official now! You are on your way to WDW!!!
DH told me that another reason they shave is that it's easier to bandage (esp for cyclists) if they get injured. Long hair and bandages are not good together! OUCH!
:(

steveanddonna...glad to see you back and posting.
What happened at the GF spa with your masssage?

Yup, there's always some one who has to gorge themselves and hog everything.:sad2:
"Worm in every apple" is correct. Isn't something how these CL CMs put up with all this behavior?
Believe me, when you let them know that you appreciate all that they do for you and your family, I know that makes them feel that their jobs do have purpose and gives them that much needed pride in their jobs.

luckywife...more  for you and DS! Hang in there, honey!

Majestic...well, I happy to see that you're enjoying the Poly CL. Sometimes we have to try others before we go back "home" to our favorites!::yes::

And, it looks like we have another LIZARD amongst us....

Welcome to the Lizard Lounge, miller2000!!!! :bounce: :bounce:

Everything you said...spoken like a true lizard!
come on in, pull up a comfy chair and enjoy some drinks and one of those fabulous desserts!:goodvibes

Steffy, annamonte, kacsmom, blowingbubbles, and everyone else...big room wave!!!! :thewave:

BambiTamby,

Let's hope he doesn't need any bandages. Last week, at another triathlon in Florida, someone was hit by a car. :(

Hope everyone is having a great day.

I had a feeling you would miss the WL. Have you thought about moving over there for the rest of your trip?

Thanks BT-you are a sweety!!
Is there also an email address for them?

BambiTamby,

I actually meant to ask that question to Majestic but I am a little forgetful today.

So, what are the resorts you are staying at for your trip in June?

:wave2:

ROTFL!!!:rotfl:

That's OK, floridafam!

We're doing the Poly LVC and then AKL suite.
the thought of WL CL (after everyone goes home) did cross my mind! hehehe!

BTW...that is a good question for Fred!::yes::

Hey, I'm staying concierge (finally) but have that Illuminations cruise question: we are a family of four and I'm an Illuminations junkie. Are we better off booking a pontoon, or booking the Breathless? I hate the thought of watching Illuminations from under a bridge...
