I go crazy if we don't get out camping after a while... no, wait, maybe its just the kids? Seriously, in 2006 we had 31 nights away in our trailer inc. 7 at Big Bend National Park and the rest mainly in the Texas State Parks. Last year I was PG/had a baby (Big Bend is to blame!) so not so many (8 or 9?) but I was having serious withdrawal issues by Christmas! We piled the baby (4.5mths) and the boys into the car and took off to our local state park for 4 days over New Years! It was hard work with the little one, but bliss to be outdoors again!

We spent 65 nights last year in our 5th wheel we went to Va.Tn, Ct. Me. & Pa. I get almost 8 weeks and try to us e the camper for most of them unless we use our DVC membership and go the condo way. Happy camping.

We would love to go to Grand Canyon. Also would like to go to Yellowstone when we can ever take enough time off work. That is a LONG drive from Virginia.

If you don't want to do the drive to the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone, there are a pair of businesses out of Salt Lake City where you can rent both a Tow Vehicle and a travel trailer. One of the few places I have found where they will rent you something intended for towing, complete with trailer brake set up and very good service. PM me if you want the details, we were very happy with the service at both companies, and the trailer place now has a yard in Jackson Hole so you don't have to tow all the way from Salt Lake if you are heading to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.

But..., to get back on topic, we typically go for several long weekends at nearby state parks, maybe one or two weekends with another family to resort type campgrounds, and a 10 day stay at a local state campground on the beach. We're in the just over 21 nights per year crowd.

Well, it's not really "camping" like I'd *like* to do, but we spend a LOT of time in parking lots, on city streets and in convention center lots - it's how I make my living......

But, last December we went to the Fort for the first time, and we've got a number of trips coming up - soonest is next Friday!!
