How many lbs are you away from

I totally do understand - it's a real fight. I find it very hard now as due to health problems I find certain (not low cal!) foods suit me more plus exercise is difficult- though generally I can walk I really need to be doing much more.
Are you able to keep healthy? X
I have a back and sciatica issue. I was working out at curves and one day pushed to hard and it has never been the same since. I had to stop. I miss doing step aerobics terribly. I need to get my heart rate up to burn calories. I take tramadol so I can't use anything to help with the weight loss. I don't dare walk by myself, as I could fall.

15-35

Somewhere between: totally manageable and "I could maintain and die at this weight" and prekids-can't enjoy food-never-eat-carbs-again-and off-my-meds miserably depressed, but thin

Somewhere in the middle.

I'm going to be that person...

It's sad to me that there are three pages of people that aren't happy with who they are. I'm very overweight but I am happy with who I am. Do I wish I could lose the weight, maybe, but I don't make it a priority...
As many have said, being dissatisfied with your weight doesn't necessarily mean you're unhappy. Maybe we're just vain - I know I am :rolleyes1. I'm loved, loving, physically healthy and pretty successful at living out my values on a day-to-day basis. I am about as "happy" as I'd ever expect to be. But I don't like the way I look since I gained 20 lbs. And it really doesn't help (or even matter at all) that others may think I look fine. I'd prefer to be trimmer, just like I prefer to colour my greying hair and use cosmetics. I also couldn't care less what you or anyone else looks like or why. I don't evaluate people on a pass/fail basis based on their appearance. And unless I really knew somebody and knew they were struggling emotionally with some aspect of their appearance I would never presume to feel "sad" for them.

40 more would make me happy. I used to drink A LOT of Coke. Just before Easter, I decided to give it up. I also started eating breakfast. Other than that, I didn't change much. So far, I'm down about 30 lbs and was very happy to fit in a size 12 shorts today. I'll be thrilled if I could loose 8 more before our Disneyland vacation in 3 weeks!

The hardest part is getting your head in the game and having the right mindset. All these diets and eating programs have one single thing in common-taking in less calories. The rest of it is just noise wrapped up in pretty bows and hype. I just want people to know it CAN be done and there's no need for a special diet.

So, so true!! I've tried many diets over the years, and yes, I lost weight, then when I went back to normal life, the pounds came back. Decided last year to change my eating habits for life and exercise regularly (a 'must do') and the 30lbs. I needed/wanted to lose came off in 6 months. Yes, slow, but a year later, they're still off.

I don't deny myself 'anything' - just watch portion control and let some foods be treats!! I still exercise regularly and I'm very happy with my weight and fitness level. (by the way, I'm also a 69 yr. old female) I've always thought that your metabolism slows as you age - was told 'not true'! If your muscles are not exercised, then you don't burn the calories needed to lose.

Anyone can do it, and as the poster I quoted said - it really is a mindset, and only you can do it - no one else can make or shame you into it. The best to those who are trying. It can/does work!! :goodvibes

I have a strange body so I'm not sure. Do to a stomach condition, my weight can go through wild swings with little known reason. Maybe I'd be happier if I lost 10 pounds of bloat and gained 10lbs of muscle mass.

40 for me as well. I have no idea how that happened.
5 pounds after each kid, but then the last 20 years the rest creeped on.

I have MS so I am monitored constantly by a neurologist and a regular Dr. Back in December I had a complete blood work up, and I mean complete, the results were three pages long. Every single number was spot on..nothing was even a little elevated. So, besides the MS, I am healthy. I may run into problems later but that's true for anyone. Point is, to me, there are other things to worry about (like if I'll wake up blind tomorrow) than to care about those last five pounds.

Different strokes for different folks..

There's not much about myself that I'm happy with. Sad, but true, and I am trying to work on changing the things I can. I have recently lost about 5 lbs and am working on the rest.

26 for me. Limited time allowed us to eat poorly and limit our exercise. Coaching 2 baseball teams after my busy season at work lead to extra pounds around my waist. We actually sign back up at the gym tonight. My son starts football next week so he's eager to join us too, which is great for all of us to do it together. Back on track with the diet as well. And when I say diet, I don't mean that in a traditional sense, I mean that by eating healthier options and being more mindful of carbs and "empty" calories. We'll have better proteins, less sugars, etc.

I lost 170, which was 10 more than I was expecting, so that's dandy, I suppose.

That is awesome!! Congrats!! I love to read threads like this for these kinds of stories.

Personally, I'm at a weight I'm happy with, and frankly would like to add another 10lbs or so of muscle. I've worked to be at weight or under weight pretty much my entire life.

When it comes to this, I'm a big believer in "Where there's a will, there's a way". My wife's sister is morbidly obese and throws out all kinds of excuses as to why. It drives my wife and I crazy. Don't let being busy or having joint pain be your excuse (obviously consult your doctor for health concerns). If you really want it, you can do it.

That's true, however, I don't think you realize how difficult it is unless you're obese. The difference in energy level, alone, can make things feel very impossible. And then if you throw in mobility issues, depression, etc, that could be going on, it's just very very difficult for some people.

Understood and agree. If someone is obese, I have NO doubt that it's a lot of hard work to make the changes. Unquestionably. And often there are many underlying things to obesity. I fully believe all of that. I just don't understand those who dismissively say "Well, I'm just really busy" or something like that.
