How many lbs are you away from

I'd like to lose everything I've gained this week on vacation, plus 5-10 more.

Too many to post publicly. I am having a very hard time losing weight. I have tried so many things.

I started eating low carb a year ago with a weight in mind that I wanted to be. My 40+ year old self wanted to be the weight I was at 20. I was a little too obsessed with the scale. I never did end up meeting that goal, and I have even gained a few lbs back, but I don't care.
I ended up changing my eating habits and I'm more active than I was, and that has become more important to me than the number on the scale.

The hardest part is getting your head in the game and having the right mindset. All these diets and eating programs have one single thing in common-taking in less calories. The rest of it is just noise wrapped up in pretty bows and hype. I spent years of my life trying every "plan" under the sun and what works best for me is simplicity. I make sure I eat less than what I burn and the weight comes off. It made getting back on track easy because I know it works. Someone up thread teased about ice cream, I eat it quite often, just less of it. I do put in at least 15,000 steps a day so I can eat more but I don't have to if I don't want to. People balk at counting calories but it's the simplest, easiest way (especially with the variety of apps out there that make it painless). But you don't even have to do that, you can just put less on your plate or leave some behind when you're eating. It's taken me almost 6 months to drop just under 30lbs which might seem like forever but the time was going to pass anyway, kwim? Please know I'm not preaching, I'm trying to encourage. I just want people to know it CAN be done and there's no need for a special diet.

Probably 12-15 to get back to where I was comfortable; more like 20 to be happy- with my weight (and shopping for clothes!)

I'm going to be that person...

It's sad to me that there are three pages of people that aren't happy with who they are. I'm very overweight but I am happy with who I am. Do I wish I could lose the weight, maybe, but I don't make it a priority.

I have MS so I am monitored constantly by a neurologist and a regular Dr. Back in December I had a complete blood work up, and I mean complete, the results were three pages long. Every single number was spot on..nothing was even a little elevated. So, besides the MS, I am healthy. I may run into problems later but that's true for anyone. Point is, to me, there are other things to worry about (like if I'll wake up blind tomorrow) than to care about those last five pounds.

Different strokes for different folks..

See, that doesn't do it for me.
I never thought in a million years that would be enough to motivate me either. It was just a combination of the person the circumstances and my frame of mind at the time. So you just never know. But you're right. It's definitely not something you can plan for or count on.

I don't think anyone has said they are unhappy with who they are. :confused3

I always count calories. Even if I am doing points, eating low carb, etc.....I am VERY short, so I have to eat very little. When I was at WW the leader told me I wasn't losing because I wasn't eating enough. So I ate more. I gained 3 pounds that week, 2 next week and 2 the week after that. It took me 6 weeks to get that back off.

First of all, I am not unhappy with who I am. Not in the least. I have wonderful friends, a great family, and I love my career.

But I am struggling to lose weight, WAY MORE than 5 pounds. Believe me, I have no intention of ever wearing a bikini on the beach. I simply want to be in the weight chart, even at the TOP would be fine with me, to no longer be overweight or more.

Have you thought about a fitness tracker? Ive found it very helpful when linked to MFP to monitor calories in vs calories out. I was appalled to realize that I barely took 1800 steps in a day. Being height challenged myself, it sure explained why my scale was moving up instead of down. Certainly not required to lose weight but being a gadget junkie, having real time data in front of me helps keep me in the right "zone."

Posting an ideal weight doesn't make people unhappy with who they are. I will say that having a healthy weight is a priority for me because IMO, being at a healthy weight is my best defense against higher healthcare costs. Do I want to spend thousands of my hard-earned money on medical bills? Nope. I never know what kind of illness could creep up, and that could happen at any time. But, if I exercise and try to maintain a healthy body frame, I'm preventing many problems both now and in the future. I am aware that there are many people who have circumstances like you that prevent them from being at an ideal weight, but I also don't think they are all unhappy with who they are even though they'd like to be at a healthier weight.

Last summer if you had asked me I would have said around 10.....this summer after being retired a full year I'd have to say at least 20!!!

I would like to lose 40 lbs. The older I get, the tougher it's to lose weight.

Not being completely happy with my weight doesn't mean I'm unhappy. I have lots of goals in life. Not reaching them yet doesn't make me miserable.
And in fact I am reaching my ice cream eating goals and for me clearly that's more important :)
Someday I'll figure out have to have both, but it's not today .

If you only knew, I hate even thinking about it. I get upset
I totally do understand - it's a real fight. I find it very hard now as due to health problems I find certain (not low cal!) foods suit me more plus exercise is difficult- though generally I can walk I really need to be doing much more.
Are you able to keep healthy? X
