How many inflatables are too many?

When they were first popular, we had the Coke polar bear with baby bear sitting in front of him between his legs.

We put them on the roof.

Then the wind would rock them on their wires. For some reason, they would only rock slightly backwards and forwards.

They never went up again. I could never look at Daddy and Baby bear the same way again.

I love the diversity of Holiday decorations this time of year. If everybody's house looked the same, it would be so very boring.

Personally I agree that 1 is too many.

I just think they look cheap.

I am not big on decorating outside with tons of lights and animation. I don't feel the need to make my house look like a ghetto version of a Macy's display window.

I live in a neighborhood in Queens where most everyone either lives in an apartment building or in two family/two floor row-house brownstone type homes (that's what we have). There are some folks who live on the second floor of these homes that have these little uncovered porch like things. Some family will SQUEEEEEEEEZE those blow up things onto the porch and let 'em fly, all puffed up and shoved in front, the edges oozing over the tops. Looks hilarious, sad and a little tacky in a "what are they thinking" sort of way.

I think next year, I am going to my inflatable pub in my front yard and put lights on it and put more inflatables on its front lawn, which is really my front lawn. Alcohol, inflatables and lights. The epitome of good taste.

Personally? Any.. I just don't like them.. And I hate when they "deflate" and the owners just leave them looking like Santa, Frosty, Rudolph, and Mickey Mouse were victims of a "drive-by shooting"..

I guess I will stand alone. I like the inflatables. Not a whole yard full but one or two thrown in with all the lights looks cute!

I'm sorry if the Christmas cheer on my lawn has offended any of you, and I guess I'm in the minority on this thread but I like inflatable decorations.

Lol, my kids would think that yard was awesome! I HAVE the 8' rotating merry go round (Big Lots $30- got my mama one too ) & about 10 light up animated non-blow ups...and my lights are musical blinkies...... I really do like the see saw one at Big Lots. As a kid, we did have a sofa on the screened porch & 2 pitbulls, but I would have traded both for some inflatables though dogs & inflatables don't go well together- love them!

Me too! We have two. We are on a huge corner lot with one in the front and one on the side.

My young children love them, and that is all that matters to me!

Sorry you're offened by them but some of us love them and the kids go crazy for them. Yup we have 'em alot of them and we add 1 to 2 more every year.

Seriously though we do have one inflatable in our yard, a polar bear. But it looks okay with our Christmas lights and the kids love it. I think that is enough though. I can't imagine 20 of them .

I only have one little santa. He is in my sled so during the day when he is blown up you can't see him. If I didn't have the sled I wouldn't have any.

I hope no one that read my response has the impression that I think "they" OR their "inflatables" are "tacky" because it's certainly not my place to judge how others choose to decorate their homes.. I personally think it's kind of rude for people to be saying they are "tacky" simply because they don't like them themselves.. However, my problem lies with when they are left lying on the front lawn deflated.. That really does look bad.. You can't tell what that big mass of colored plastic is that is lying on the lawn and for lack of a better word, it looks like a heap of trash lying there.. Do they have to be deflated at night? (Obviously I know nothing about them..) If not, why do people deflate them - and if there's a reason for it, why do they not inflate them again first thing in the morning?

Our yard is very small and our cars are parked right in front (townhouse) so no one would see them anyway. But I would probably put up a small one (something cute like a penguin, bear, Santa) if I found one I liked someday. I do kinda like the snowglobe ones.

I think the size of the yard would dictate how many is too many. 10 on an acre lot may not look so bad...10 in front of my house would completely cover my front "yard".

We put one inflatable up every year on the roof. I know, the horror. It's kind of a neighborhood tradition. For the past few years we had the polar bear but he died. This year we are going with chubby santa. Our daughter loves it as do the neighborhood kids. Beside, on the roof he is safe from vandals. We know it's a little tacky but it's a fun tradition. I say celebrate the way you want.

Most kids would LOVE to wear pajamas to school and eat nothing but chocolate chip cookies but I doubt most would let them do that on a daily basis. Sure, kids think inflateables are cool but that doesn't mean you have to have one.

I think they are cheap looking and tacky, personally. The Santa one street over from me is humping the grass all day. If you are determined to force your neighbors to look at it, at least actually inflate it 24 hours a day so your yard doesn't look so trashy.
