How many hours do you spend video taping

I wanna bring my camcorder down with me. I'm trying to predict how much battery power and tapes I'll need to record. Just outta curiousity, how much time do you spend video taping at day? I'm assuming about 2 hours. Is that a good assumption?

We brought our video camera for our first trip and figured we would use it a lot so we brought lots of tape and even bought a 12 hour battery for the dumb thing.

We took it with us to the parks in our backpack everyday and I think we ended up with maybe 3 hours of video from a 7 day trip. It just didn't seem worth it to us to watch the attractions from behind that camera...it seemed to take away from our fun so we barely used it. We did record a few shows and parts of parades but that was it.

We are going in Feb with our DS for the first time and I imagine we will use it more just because we want to capture his reactions but I won't plan on bringing that huge battery and tons of tape. I figure 1 hr/day will be more than enough for us.

12 hour battery?!? WOW! If I'm lucky, I could possibly get a 3 hour one. But I've never seen one. I've only seen 1 1/2 hour batteries for my camera!

It was special ordered by DH. It is huge and adds about 4 pounds to the weight of the camcorder.

I ended up with more tape of the inside of my camera bag. Guess I was more interested in my surroundings than in turning the darn thing off. Having said that, I had a bigger camera and ended up with maybe an hour's worth of tape. This trip, I'll have a small palm-sized one with digital still photo so I expect to use it more.

It depends on if you have young kids.

For a four day trip, we taped about 3 hours, and I thought we were taping too much. But when we got home and starting watching the tape, I realized I should have taped a lot more. Our DD2 and DS7 watched the tape over and over again and we wished we would have gotten our favorite rides on tape. (We did get all of Cinderella's Surprise Celebration)

Our next trip, after we go on the rides at least once, I will probably run the camera the next time through. We'll probably end up with about 4~5 hours.

For me it would be about 45 minutes tops for an average length vacation at disney. Theres only so much of one thing you can film. I learned that thru experience. My first few video tapes from early vacations are long and boring because of all the wasted footage. My latest ones are lean and to the point. No more fast forwarding thru the 30 minute long footage od mt daughter eating ice cream.

10-20 hours!!!
I love editing when I get back and can edit my videos down to 6-8 hours.
I tend to take much more when I am alone. When I am with larger groups it is harder to take the time to get good video.
