How many hours at Universal Studios?

We are planning to use our day at Universal, which we get with our Citypass, on the day we are also traveling down to San Diego for the second part of our trip. How many hours would be sufficient for us to spend in the park and get everything done we want to do? We would like to leave the park with enough time to get to San Diego ideally by 10pm at the latest. Also, our trip is scheduled for either late June or mid July and we will likely be at Universal on Thursday. Would the necessary number of hours change much if we did Universal on Saturday instead?

Thanks for the help! :thumbsup2

Depending on how many shows you are planning to see there is only three rides and a one hour tram ride. It all depends on if you are also planning on doing city walk and how many shows.

Well for sure all of the rides and maybe the tour, as well as the major shows for sure: terminator, waterworld and shrek. Not sure what else there would be to do but the animal actors show would be something my DD would like, and I would like the horror walk through, if we have enough time. I'm thinking 10am to 7pm? Does that sound realistic?

Not sure if you will be able to see everything in that time frame in late June or mid July, but you should be able to see most of what is on your list.

If you're a big spender they sell a front-of-the-line pass. But it's a LOT more $$.

You'll want to get a show schedule ahead of time to plan out the best strategy to see the most shows. I've found doing the tram later in the day and the part of the park down the huge escalators first is best - most of the crowd does the tram first and everything upstairs before heading down.

I agree about the studio tour. I have rode it in the beginning of the day and at the end of the day and the end of the day there is no waiting and this was both at Christmas time and also Summer Beginning of August. I think US is an all day thing. But I can say you can see the entire park in one day. There is no need for a 2 day pass for US.
