How many have used their points for things other than Disney rooms or cruises?

Anyone use their points for world passport locations? How about for ABD trips? RCI trades? How did you feel about using your points for these things? Did you feel it was worth it? Please note: everyone agrees that the best use of your points is at a DVC resort. However, these options exist so I was wondering how it went for others.

We recently used 200 DVC points from SSR for a six night stay at the Manhattan Club, NYC, for Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. This was booked through DVC's Concierge Collection and I felt it was an excellent use of points.

When DVC traded with Interval II - we stayed at the Royal Sands in Cancun. It was definitely worth it.

Will definitely give RCI a chance someday soon. If we don't cruise in 2015 again (will decide soon) - will try RCI.

We have also used a combination of points and cash for all of our 5 DCL cruises.

Have taken:
Two Concierge Collections trips:
Doral, Miami - Played the Blue Monster
Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC - Different view from the top of a mountain
Two RCI exchanges:
Ft. Myers - not worth the exchange
Ft. Lauderdale - Would do again, went during their annual fleet week, looked down from the 5th floor pool area at a SR-71 Blackbrid (this plane can fly at greater than 60,000 feet) flying by.
7 DCLs with 6 all or partly on points.

We did this with one of the sister resorts-- Royal Carribean, I think. It was a fantastic first wedding anniversary stay-- no regrets! One of these days we will trade again, probably when DD is older. She is prime WDW age right now.

Yowza -- how cool is that! Good for you!

We exchanged, via Interval International (pre-RCI affiliate) for a week in Sedona, AZ. It was a great trip and I would definitely exchange again.

Friends have exchanged, twice, for 2-week stays on the island of Madeira. Once the trip was for their own family and once it was a wedding gift for a niece.

We have used points for the Sept 2014 Transalantic cruise we think it was great value for our points :)

Exchanging takes investigation and planning ahead along with patience to wait on the exchange to match.

We exchanged through Club Intrawest in Vancouver, Canada for 3 nights before our 2011 DCL Alaska cruise.

Have used our. Points for two cruises, one from Florida and one from Galveston.

Have also traded through RCI for New Orleans and would gladly trade again.

My points are mine and as long as my family enjoys are use then that's all that matters.

We exchanged for a week at Broadway on the beach in myrtle beach. It was a Sheraton and a beautiful place. We would definitely trade again. It was a nice change of pace from Disney. We felt it was a good exchange.

Stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in DC on points several times. Once we stayed for July 4, and it felt like the fireworks on the Mall were in our room!:lovestruc

We've done dl Paris, Disney cruise, Disneyland and Shelburne Murray Hill in nyc. All have been worth it to us. I also agree, our points are paid for, dues costs x$, a $95 fee is easier, we already spent vacation $'s on the dues, why pay more or hassle with a rental. All that said, I am thinking of renting points to buy airfare to Europe for an rci exchange we have in the spring from another timeshare we own.

We've traded into Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club on Kauai when DVC was part of II. We've also traded with another member to go to the Westin in Maui. We love both places.

Hi,

Was this with RCI? which month and how far in advance did you put in for the exchange?

TIA

While it is no longer in the Concierge Collection, we did use points for the Grand Hotel, Mackinaw Island, Michigan three years in a row in the mid 2000's. This was a great value in the shoulder season. A full breakfast and 5 course dinner was included every day. Although it is somewhat off the beaten path in northern Michigan, Mackinaw Island is a place that everyone should visit at least once. It is like going back in time to before there were cars.

Several years ago we exchanged into a Marriott at Williamsburg through Interval International. Accommodations were very good and we had a great trip.
