How Many DVCer's are Universal AP holders? UPDATED with New AP Offer...........

I know US offers FOTL for onsite guests, but is US a regular visit during your DVC vacation?

We were US Preferred AP holders prior to our DVC purchase. Although they have less parks that are very different than WDW, we found the AP prices very reasonable and always visit at least 2 days. We've always had a car so transportation is not an issue.

We use PHP's for WDW. Im just not ready to part with $1400 a year for WDW AP's. I do like the freedom to come and go that they would give us, but we like the waterparks and DQ which would cost us even more for PAP's.

Having our US AP's stretches our PH's and having 2 DS's and DH they really enjoy the superhero characters. (sometimes, Im outvoted when it comes to the "magic")

I just started one on March 1. I will be holding the Universal AP and a WDW PAP.

We are DVC members and just purchased AP's for Universal. We also always have transportation, so that is not an issue either. This is the first year that we are doing this, but we seem to always stretch out 7 day WDW hopper for 2 trips. For the price we paid for the Universal passes, we thought we would try it out this year as another option. We did a couple days a few weeks ago and will be back in July. Our March 2005 trip will be scheduled a week earlier, to maximize our AP's. I also agree that I just can't part with over $1000 for WDW when I paid just under $400 for Universal AP's. My son is also getting older and the change is good for him. That said, we will always spend a few days at WDW!

We are DVC members and have WDW APs and US/IOA APs. Wish WDW did seasonal APs like US does.

Disney AP and SW AP. I wish Disney would debit the checking account monthly like SW does. Hurts much less that way.
As to Universal, I would not have an AP there even if it were free.

Our US AP's just expired. Our Disney AP's go through Thanksgiving. We won't be getting more for a while. We try to stay at US for at least one weekend of our stay. 2 nights at the HRH and 7 nights at DVC. That gives us two great weekends and only having to use one Friday and Saturday of DVC points, plus the wonderful Front of Line Access.

I do too! Im sure they would be alot more expensive, but if it saved us some money it would be another option for us.

Right now it takes approx. 8 days to break even on a WDW AP. It takes approx. 3 to break even on a US AP.

I do see the value in WDW and really enjoy the parks. I think the daily admission price is worth every penny.

We purchased our US PAP's back in 2002 for $99 through the Fanclub website. Their renewal is $99 and doesnt start until we use the passes again. In 2003 we used the 2002 pass again and then renewed after the trip for $99 to use the pass in 2004 and 2005. So for $200 each we have 4 years of Park access.
DH and I have the Preferred Passes and 2 DH's have the Power Pass.

I don't think we are in the parks enough to justify spending the money on the PAP's. We really enjoy the Resorts and the amenities and the parks are icing on the cake.

I rotate between US and SW/BG annual passes trying to make two trips on each pass. I can't remember the last time I had a Disney AP, IMHO Disney don't offer value in the way the others do.

I always kept a SW annual pass - okay I am an animal lover - and I love to feed their dolphins.

I also got the US/IOA annual pass at $99

WDW offers seasonal APs, but for FL residents only unfortunately.

We couldn't resist the Kraft offer that they had last year (Buy 1 year AP get a 2nd year free). The kids love going there for a few days. We love saving the DVC points on the weekends and it is an affordable way to extend our vacations.

I have a WDW AP, but the rest of the Family uses Park Hoppers... I was looking at the cost of AP's for US and boy oh boy are they a lot less than WDW's AP's, and I think we will opt for AP's at US and continue to use PHPasses for WDW

We have both WDW PAP's and Universal AP's. We use them to get discounts on the rooms and this year will be staying at the Portofino Bay Hotel and Royal Pacific Hotel. We will be staying at these at the weekends and DVC in the week. ( We are there for three weeks)

These years run consecutive, but may still save you some money, as the renewal fee is less.

I think US and SW AP's are a good option to use with multiple DVC stays in a year when we have more points than PHP days or if WDW AP's are expired.

We have SW in San Antonio and we like to take short trips there but don't hold the AP. If we visit this year, we will buy the AP.

We have gotten US AP for the past 3 years and we still have a few vouchers left. We just stayed at OKW for 3 days last week and did not go into WDW parks, but we did visit IOA.

Wow, just went over to Universal's site. They have got the deals going! I'm sure we'll visit Universal alot more in the future, but for now my kids are just too young I think (3 and 6). Plus, my oldest is a little bit of a ride wimp. We just went to American Adventures (owned by Six Flags, has only kid rides) and my youngest was riding the roller coaster over and over, my oldest wouldn't even walk near it. Universal just seems like a teenager park to me. I dunno.
I'm tempted by their resorts and their fast pass type system for their resort guests. Now wouldn't that be a nice DVC perk?!?
I also am very impressed with the AP payment option to pay monthly. If WDW did this we'd probably buy an AP every year.
I think Universal is really gonna give WDW a run for its money very soon.
They seem to be very smart thinking!
