How many DVC trips a year as an owner?

We have not been since Christmas of last year, and boy are we looking forward to going again. Our friends are going at Christmas this year....we are soooo jealous!!!! That was one of the best trips EVER.

We usually try to go atleast once per year.

Jen

We usually go twice a year with each visit lasting 14 nights. The flights are very expensive so we try to go as long as possible. However we are restricted by vacation days.

This year - 3 trips.
Next year - 2 trips + one trip for a conference (staying DVC)
After that - probably 2 trips.

It varies. This year we did Feb., May, Sept., and soon Dec. The first three trips were short weekenders. Dec. will be 7 nights! Woo Hoo!

Next year we will only spend one night in May coming back from Vero. We will be doing the Disney Magic in Sept. next year. What a bummer! NOT!

Great responses! They have me thinking!!!!!Can anyone tell me when Xmas decorations typically go up??? :worship:

Depends...lights go up starting in July/August...the first date this year for MVMCP was Nov. 10th

We have been going 3x per year since 2006 DVC purchase. We are usually there a total of 23-25 nights per year. :scared1: We have just added on because we were buying nights at moderates using AP rates.....we tend to extend our trips last minute! It is just DH, dd and I and we book studios...wish they had:laughing: whirlpools!
DH only has three weeks vacation....we sometimes stretch it around holidays!

OK gang, help me out here. This is more of a research question than a sales pitch. You all come here a LOT and you're so much our target market....yet not very many of you are Members of Owner's Locker....so why haven't we hit your radar screen????
Candid comments encouraged and welcome.
Thanks,

We drive and bring everything with us. I think your target market is primarily the folks that fly.

So many people here do rave about your service! The only benefit for me would be a place to store our liquid laundry bottle between family visits, those that we have in a 2 bedroom with a laundry room. We wind up throwing away lots of laundry detergent, twice a year, but even that waste is less than your service. I just don't need that many things to be waiting for me at my DVC home.

We do one, fourteen-day trip per year.

If we weren't owners, it would be one, 7-day trip per year.

We live locally and drive, otherwise we would be members. I travel for my business and I value any service that reduces the hassle. I joined the Clear Pass / Registered Traveler program as soon as we moved to Orlando for that very reason.

Your costs are insignificant for anyone who visits Orlando at least twice a year --maybe even once a year now that the airlines charge for baggage. But it may be possible that some are hesitant with the upfront charge. Have you considered a monthly pay program where you spread the cost over 12 or 24 months of automatic payment? You might charge more in total to cover your additional risk/costs. The model I am thinking of is the Sea World annual pass program.

Because of my travel I observe plenty of families wrestling with luggage (both checked and carry-on), kids, packages. I would think even resort guests would use your service as many AP holders are resort but not DVC or other timeshare owner. Can you tap into them?

Is there a service that you could offer members to ship those Mickey ears and other stuff home rather than drag in on the airplane or stuff in an already overloaded vehicle? Maybe you deliver a flat box that members fold, pack and label; then you arrange shipping (at an extra charge). I must admit that there are times that I wish our stuff would just show up in our villa and we could forgo the suitcases.

I think it is a combination of selling the benefits, adding complimentary (concierge type) services and making the payment portion easier.

I have thought about it more than once - but since mostly drive and have a box that stays in the car with most of my stuff. don't think it would be worth it for me.

now do fly occasionally - but not that often.

Anything that we would leave there, we like to have at home with us and I have one box that I do ship that has cooking paraphenalia in it but shipping the box is still cheaper for us. I do a pre-paid label home and just drop it at guest services.

Believe me, we have looked at your service and have debated cost vs. convenience, etc.

One thing I wish it were easy to do is donate food or drink items that we can't take back with us that we haven't used. We leave this stuff in the fridge and don't know if mousekeeping takes it or tosses it. Sometimes we have miscalculated and have unopened items left over.
:confused3

We only go once a year, it's just the two of us, and we stay in a studio, so there's not a whole lot we could put in one. We think about getting one from time to time, but so far we haven't figured out how having one would save us enough money or trouble to justify the expense.

I'm one of those that have joined in but not entirely sold on the idea. We're trying it for our trip in December and I was really looking forward to it until I realized that it's gonna be a pain to have to call the bellhop to pick it up from our room. We're staying at SSR, we drive, and we usually take care of our own luggage, but because the OL is gonna be heavy, and has no wheels, that would mean we have to wait for bell services to pick it up from our room.

I guess we'll see how it goes.

I tried to talk DH into one last year when you had that initial really, really good hard to pass up offer (What was it? Like 3 free trips or something? I don't remember now) and then POOF it was gone in a flash before I could convince him so now it's sort of an "oh well" thing for us.

LAST year we went 3 times but then we ran out of points and cannot go again until next summer...so we're hit & miss on our trips right now. Also, we use studios so no laundry in the unit...not that I want to do laundry on vacation but....no need to store a big bottle of Tide. We fly and use ME so I won't be packing a crockpot any time soon...I suppose we would store things like...ummmm....ponchos & umbrellas...flip flops...beer cozies....if frequent trips were planned sunscreens... If we could get to the point where we were going 2 times a year every year maybe I could convince him it's worth it one day...:confused3 I think it sounds great with all the luggage restrictions these days...it's just not time for us to sign up yet with no trips planned for the immediate future.

We have thought about it, but we drive most of the time and we are still new DVC members, so we feel like we need to have a couple of trips "home" with bringing all the stuff with us before making a decision. Believe me, the idea of the convienence thrills me! :goodvibes
