If I want to purchase DVC pionts to only go everyother year, and stay at Coronado Spings?

Could I only buy 100 points and bank them for the following year?
Could I purchase my points from a Hilton Head re-sale and use them the same?
What are the yearly dues for the DVC?
Will the points charts ever go up in the future?

Thanks for your response in advance I know this is alot of questions, we just got back 2 days ago from BWI. We had another great time at Disney!!!!!

You'd spent more to stay at CS on points, getting double beds and no kitchen than you would on a DVC studio with a queen sized bed and a double sleeper sofa and galley kitchenette.

Check out the points charts at the top to see how many points it would take to stay in the DVC villa you choose at the time of the year you choose. The points charts are pretty static except for a change each year around Easter and spring break.

Dues varies among resorts with VB as the highest and currently SSR as the lowest.

You can use HH points at any DVC resort, but you wouldn't be able to make your reservation until 7 months out except for HH at 11 months out.

You could buy 100 points and bank them each year to have 200 points every other year. You would have to buy your points resale, though, since Disney only sells 150 or more for your first purchase.

Welcome to the DIS.

A couple of things....

What you need to do is check how many points you would need for the time of year and what accommodations you would want (you can use the point charts at the top of this page) and calculate accordingly. That is how many points you would want to purchase.

Generally DVC is not a good fit for someone who wants to stay at non-DVC resorts. The beauty of DVC is being able to lock in the cost of your accommodations in future years but that is only for DVC resorts. Point values for non-DVC resorts (like Coronado Springs) are not fixed and can increase each year.

You might do well to read the DVC FAQs at the top of the forum. That should provide you with a little more information about DVC and what you should be looking at.

I agree with the other posters. There is no point in buying DVC to stay in a moderate resort. It will end up costing you more than staying in a DVC resort that will be deluxe and have more room etc. You can stay at CSR through CRO more economically than you can through DVC.

Thanks for all the replies. I do see now that I would be staying at a mod. when the deluxe would be available for me.

This helps me make our decision. We will think on this.

Also remember the the dues are going to be the most expensive part of ownership. To buy at HH or VB because the cash outlay upfront is less doesn't mean it really will cost you less.
