How many DVC members use points at Dis hotels?

I used points for a Ft Wilderness Cabin (twice) and loved it. It cost more points--but it is the nearest thing to a DVC resort at WDW. :sunny:

I love AKL, so I was thinking about using some points to stay there during an upcoming trip. I figured I'd stay at AKL for two nights and then move to a DVC resort for the rest of the time. Unfortunately, it was *so* expensive in terms of points. A lot more than I would have guessed. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the points that way.

So I guess I'll either have to shell out the cash to stay at AKL or just hope an AKL DVC is in the cards.

We don't normally - Have only done it twice in over 30 trips. However, we are using our points for a December trip to AKL Concierge's.

I have never understood this "concierge" thing. Is there any point to that other than "free" snacks?

We have another timeshare in Orlando. (Yes, it is as nice as DVC except for not being onsite.) When we are there for a week, we "try out" WDW hotels, with points, for one or two nights of our stay. We are always glad to get back to the larger place!

I haven't yet but plan to. I know it isn't the best use of points but that is one of the reasons we were intrigued and bought into it. Normally we couldn't afford the cash outlay for a stay at GF so with our points we can and its nice.

I asked the same question the time we bought our DVC points at SSR. I believe the best way to do this is stay at the Poly on a Fri & Sat, then move to your DVC resort Sun-Fri. You will get to enjoy the Poly and DVC resort. The key here is you will use fewer points by avoiding the weekends at the DVC resort; however, you still have to pay those Poly prices.

What's funny is you pay the same amount at the Poly no matter what day of the week it is Saturday or Tuesday. With DVC you have to pay 3 times the points on Friday and Saturday stays at DVC resorts.
