This is just something I think about sometimes, how many of us are out there???

When thinking of the possibility of thousands of us, im actually pretty impressed that im able to book rooms like vgf 1 bedroom resort view that only has 30 rooms (I think)

I think a really rough estimate would be to figure out how many total DVC rooms there are and then multiply X53 because a lot of people probasbly have about a week worth of points. Some people have a week worth of studio some have a week worth of grand villa, and obviously lots of people have several weeks worth and different resorts/different rooms/different number of points for a week. But I think that would be a good rough idea

I only know for certain, there are more than 2.

Well there’s at least more than 50 at CFW 😂 (I’m teasing the ‘little bro’ of DVC lol)

On a different piece of resort specific paperwork it lists the change from the previous year, but I can’t remember where I saw that.

It’s very hard to pinpoint, as there are different ways to count members.

For example: You have four contracts with four different membership numbers. You also have various family members on each individual contract.

The question I wonder is what the average amount of points an owner has? In my mind having anything less than 150 is absolutely useless since I live out of state and wouldn’t be interested in only being able to stay a few nights a year in a studio. I feel like on r/dvc people talk about having 25 or 50 or 75 points a lot! I would really enjoy seeing the statistics on how many of the ~250k fall into groups of <50, 50<100, 100<150 and then intervals of 100+. This board makes it seem like every third DVC owner is in the 1000 point club and I envy them greatly with my meager 630 ;).

DVC spoils us into no longer wanting a single studio. Then 150pts becomes insufficient 😂

150pts works fine for studio week I think. Even with the high chart of VGF not a problem. Due to all the studios in BPK it doesn’t even require breaking a sweat during home priority. Between 7-11 months at any given time there is little chance I can’t find an open week around 150pts. Outside Season 7 Christmas/Easter weeks, the most expensive is 158pts for a week in Season 5 and under 150pts to do 6 nights in Season 6.

We did 5 nights VGF studio last Feb for 90pts. The trip before we did 6 nights in 2 studios for 134pts each. That’s 17 nights for just over 2.3 years of points in Seasons 3 & 4. Most people are not averaging over 21pts/nt for studio bookings.

1 BR and 2 BR at VGF isn’t too bad to book because most people don’t want to waste all their points on them…

I do waste all my points on them!

Interesting to see the breakdown of size of resort and numbers of users.

I would love to know this too as im at 590 and all resale and i feel like the poor friend that got financial aid and goes to the rich school 🤣🤣 (its a fair comparison 🤣🤣)

When we first bought in with 250 points at BWV in 1996, it was very rare to run into another DVC Member. Now you can't spit and not hit one! In the old days if felt a little more exclusive. Not trying to be snobby, but there just was not that many DVC Resorts. OKW and BWV was it. Now DVC resorts are everywhere and new ones are going up. I'm not sure what is planned after LSL, but I bet it will be another tower someplace. I would rather see Disney do another Value or Moderate resort to counteract the "Disney is for the Rich" perception.

We have added on several times to take advantage of having other home resorts and sit just north of 1000 points. We always go for a 1br as studios just feel like a hotel room and not a vacation home. Our next trip with the grandkids, we splurged on a 3br GV at AKV Jambo house. Should be an experience!

So back in the day I would have said that the average amount of points was what ever it took for a 1 week stay in the room type of your choice and the time of year of you choice. For us it was 2 weeks in a 1 bedroom first week in December. 250!
That seems so long ago.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for pulling this together. One question, though. Are these numbers unique members or unique contracts? If I own three contracts, am I counted once as a member, or three times in the 252K?
