How many drops on the Tower of Terror?!

The reason I ask is because I need to know what's the most number of drops I can expect now that it's done randomly!! I went on it years ago, when it was just the three drops, but was close to losing my lunch then, and a fourth would have probably sealed my fate!! I would love to pluck up the courage to do it again one day - but would I now be asking for trouble, if I did?!

TIA

With Tower of Terror 4, your fate is random. Last time I went I had about a half dozen little drops and 3 or 4 real big ones. We all said we felt like a yo-yo. The drops aren't bad for me, it's the going back up that gets me.

There's really no way to know... We went in December and rode about 4 times in a row (no waits!!) and every single time was different!! I would say probably around 4 or 5 was the average, but it really is random... You don't know what to expect!

THANKS....I THOUGHT something was different my last trip in December.
I had just finished telling a scared woman seated next to me that there was only 3 drops. HAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
We must have gone up and down 6 or 7 times!!!! Luckily, she enjoyed it, but I felt pretty stupid.

I like this new way, because it keeps you in suspense which is more than half the fun!

You never know . . . BWAHAHA

I wish that there were even more drops! My dream is to do the ToT drop sequence for an hour.

We must have gone up and down 6 or 7 times!!!!

 I definitely couldn't cope with that!!! :crazy2: :teeth: I'm assuming these were big drops, not just teensy ones!

Just did it (6 times) 2/14 Random everytime...... the most was 4 BIG falls in one trip, with several little lift drops.

My DH & I ( only dating at the time!) were at MGM the same week that the tower opened for the first time. I had no idea what the ride was. When it first started Ithought it was some kind of haunted house... I NEVER expected the drop :earseek: I actually peed my pants a little  Its never as good when you know what to expect....

We went on it twice this week... can't remember how many drops, but they were good long drops... I'd say maybe 5 fairly long ones, and one or 2 yo yos. I always mean to count, but forget in the excitement of it all.

I think I would have a Heart attack if I ever tried to ride it again and that is from someone who rides about any kind of roller coaster. I think it is the anticipation of knowing that you are trapped on the ride and have to wait for the end for the drops. It is like going up that first hill on a roller coaster but only worse because it takes longer. :scared1: The old drop sequence was fine but the new one was very scarey. The worst part about it was being pulled up as fast as you went down on the last drop. If I can explain it right it was like you were dropped then immediately pulled back up without a break. I was shaking hard after that. :crazy2: I was trying to keep calm though due to my 10 year old beside me had started to cry. He is usually not timid about rides and takes on the Hulk and other roller coasters like they were nothing. He said he will never go back on it (he may change his mind though as he gets older) and I probably never will either.

I don't know how many drops but i can tell you the fourth time my rump rose about a foot out of my seat I'd had quite enough  . I'm a pretty fair sized girl and I can't imagine what my kids must have thought, let's just say my dad has the scars on his arms (from my son) to prove it. According to Dad my little fellow had the seatbelt firmly wrapped around his arms also, hanging on for dear life. My son says he may try it again sometime, ,my daughter who is 7 says even if she's 30 it will be too soon to return to the TOT (yet she walked right out and on the Rockin Rollercoaster and love it, eventough she's was leary of seatbelts the rest of the trip  . Rent the movie Tower of Terror : it's pretty good and gives a little more of the story line. We all enjoyed it. It's definately worth trying at least once.

My brother and I rode this in July. The first time he rode with my mother and thought it was pretty bad. The second time he rode with me and there were a lot more "big" drops in the sequence. Plus, a lot of the big drops were in the dark. He swears he will never ride it again. He was absolutely terrified and he is 30 years old. Rode Dr. Doom and IOA and didn't have a problem, but ToT and he freaked. He says the big difference was the dark. Totally freaked him out. Personally, I think he is just a "girlie-man". I'm his big sister so I can say that, right.

I was there last week and it was very random the 5 times we went on it. One time we stopped infront of some sort of motor and there were loud bursts of air blown on us. We dropped about 6 times with at least 4 being big drops. They got rid of the saftey bars so I got a whole new experience. Being slightly bigger than your average bear The bar was always holding me in place and everyone else in my row would get to lift out of their seats when they dropped. Now that everyone gets their own seatbelt I got the new feeling of coming out of my seat.

It was great!

I love the new random sequences. Just when I thought I knew basically what to expect...we went UP first. :cool1: That was a twist I never expected! Can't ride it more than twice in a short period of time though or it gives my stomach issues.

Myst

I can ride any sort of roller coaster or other thrill ride. In fact, I even took a trip around the Pocono Raceway and did the Petty Driving Experience and let me tell you - I will try my hardest to get my butt on ToT, but I hightly doubt I'll do it. I hate that feeling of just free-falling down. But the funny part is, I don't mind being shot up really fast. There's a ride in a local amusement park that's called the Dominator and you sit away from a tower with your legs dangling and you can chose the tower that holds you up 200 ft in the air and drops you or shoots you up 200 ft in the air, both unexpectedly. I've been on both, but I absolutely hated the one that drops me. Therefore, I really don't think ToT will be my cup of tea. Maybe, just maybe I'll try to go on it. And that's a biiiiiiiig maybe, too!
