I must say that I am so grateful to have been referred to this Board. You all are such disney experts!

I am in the process of planning a WDW trip in the last week of June through July 4th - and have the option to extend my stay from 5 days/6 night to as much as 7 days/8 nights.

My question: Is this too long of a stay? Any recommendations?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have. :earsboy:

Oh no! That's not too long of a stay! We did 12 days, 13 nights, now that was a little too long in my opinion!

Our first trip we did 5 days/6 nights. It felt a little rushed to tell you the truth. I think I'd prefer 7 days/8 nights. A full week at Disney World sounds refreshing, and if it wears on you, take one of those days to do something else. If you can't leave Disney property, you could always see a movie at the complex at Downtown Disney.

Have fun planning your trip!

Rest assured that there is no such thing as "too long a stay" ! I don't think you said where you are staying, but if it is an on-site resort you will find the trip easier and more relaxing. I think one of the best parts of the trip for my DH is putting away the car keys as soon as we arrive. He tries every way possible to NOT have to drive anywhere during our visit and is a wiz at the diney trans. sys. *Tyler would be proud of him.

We are actually going at the same time as you and if you read recent returnees postings and trip reports you will gather that the crowds, heat and thunderstorms this time of year can really wear you out and limit how much even the most devoted commandos can accomplish in a day (and evening, and e-night)....

If you can extend your stay to 7 or 8, by all means DO. You will be grateful to be able to take a "day off from the parks" every few days and just rest, rehydrate and enjoy your resort. this is really essential (at least to my family it is) when touring the world in the hottest months of summer.

* If you do plan to do this, make sure that you purchase Park Hopper Passes, not the length of stays or whatever they are called so you don't waste $$ on those non-park days. Unused days on Park Hoppers do not expire so if you don't use them on this visit, well, you have a good reason to come back sometime soon!

Have a magical (and safe) trip!

How many days? As many as you can afford! I'd go for two weeks if I could!:hyper:

I agree with the others, 8 days is great if you can do it.
I feel rushed when I take shorter vactions.

I would definitely say there is a big difference between a 5 night trip and 7 nights. I would only go 5 nights (or less) if I got an incredible deal that I couldn't pass up. For some reason, that 2 extra nights change the trip from a rushed frenzy to a nice, enjoyable pace.

IMO, it gives you the opportunity to feel that you can take breaks from the parks in the afternoon without feeling "OMG, I am wasting precious time...must go into commando mode". Because those breaks give you back some energy, your trip is much more enjoyable. (keep in mind that my opinion is based on the fact that we do not go every year, if that were the case, I may feel differently. We usually go every three years)

I hope you have a great trip!!!

DW and I used to go for 5 days and nights. The last trip we stayed for 7 and we kept commenting on how we felt more relaxed. That is why we are going 9 nights this summer. That way we are actually planning days to just veg out by the pool and relax. We are very excited about this trip, and the idea of getting the park passes early is a good one. You can actually make a 5 day UPH last 6 or 7 days by going to a water park or two with the "extras." Good luck and have a great trip!!!
