We are considering a California/Vegas trip in 2014 and trying to put together some costs, plans etc

How many days do you think we'll need in Anaheim for DL/DCA?

We'll be travelling in September so quieter than during vacation times!

Thanks

3 nights 4 days minimum. 4 nights 5 days would be better.

Check out Hydroguys's & Mary Jo's tip threads if you haven't done so. From a previous similar thread:

If you are a WDW veteran, then here is your primer.....a must read!!:

Also, lots of good info for the WDW vet in Mary Jo's tip thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=802084

Regarding touring DLR....the two most important things to remember is to:

- Get to the parks BEFORE opening &
- Know how to use FP at DLR.

Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's park. :thumbsup2

I agree with Hound! We just had 5 1/2 days and it was still hard to get it all in.
Parade, WOC, fireworks, Aladdin, Laserman and a trip on the Columbia were all things we made a special point to see. Things I wanted to see but didn't have time were Billy Hill, Fantasmic, and Flynn's Arcade. 10pm was just too soon for DCA to close and we found ourselves running out of time there.

It all depends on how far away you live (i.e. how often you can visit!) and how much of a DL "fix" you need! We had a 6 day pass last time, which was great - but this time we have gone for a 14 day pass - not much more than the 6 and those extra days will be great to have...we may not visit every one of those 14 days...but you never know!

I'd say an absolute minimum of 3. 1 day at Disneyland, 1 day at California Adventure and the last day to do your favourites or catch some things you missed. Everyday after that is a bonus. I come from Australia so we always spend at least 10 days there.

I'm going to say 4 or 5. Carsland will be open and I'm sure still very popular and this will require more time.

Make sure you spend some weekend time there, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In the offseason the Fireworks and Fantasmic have been weekend only shows. Also hours during midweek have been short, and on the weekend long.

For Vegas you can cut your hotel cost in half by avoiding Friday and Saturday night, it will cost more to stay on these night in Anaheim but the difference is not usually so drastic there.

It depends on a lot of factors. The biggest, that I don't notice from your post, is how many of you are going. If I was just going with my wife, even in 2014, 4 days might be pushing it (though with Cars Land up and running by then, 4 days may be barely enough). If you've got kids, you may need to go for 4-5 days to make sure you do as much of each park as you can.

I'd say minimum 5. Just enough days that you don't feel rushed. Lately we've been enjoying going 7-8 days!

Good Luck on your vaca plans.

We go quite often, at least once a year and we always try for 4 day hoppers. With that said we have done one day trips but then we only go to DL and not DCA. My husband and I go alone sometimes now that the kids are grown, and we still like 4 days so we can rest in the afternoon and have plenty of evenings for the shows.

Oh...I did sneak in a 5 day hopper for this Dec. it was only and extra $20 for the both of us and I thought why not.
