Ok - We decided to combine our next 2 vacations into one, so, it will be our first time at VB in September, we are going to add on our usual 4 disney days too -

What would you recommend? WDW first or second? and How many days at Vero?

TIA

Hi, love your tag - too funny

We have VB after WDW to "wind down" after the parks and get everyone on an even keel

There will be many opinions but since VB is only about 1 3/4 hours from WDW, we have spent anywhere from 2 days (1 night) to 6 days (5 nights) there

I think for your first trip, 2-3 nights (3-4 days) will work well and then you can decide whether to come back again for longer

There are shower facilities and your resort ID is good until end of your last day - last time there, spent time after check-out swimming in the ocean, pool, some lunch at Bleachers then used the shower facilities to wash up and then get changed and depart.

Makes for a relaxing exit day

Good luck!

Thanks

I agree with two to three nights. We love Disney's Vero Beach Resort but use it for shorter trips. Vero's a fairly sleepy place. The main draw is the ocean and the pool, although the minigolf there is fun, too.

For us, three nights seems to be the minimum and four nights is even better. We have been doing a four night stay at VB after our visits to BWV in January and June. We would definitely do this as a way to wind down after doing WDW.

Not to be contrary or anything, but if you have really stressful jobs, you may want to take the first few days at VB and detox, then head off to WDW completely refreshed and ready for the excitement and stimulation that will offer.

On the other hand, when travelling with younger kids, VB afterwards could be a good way for the family to relax after the excitement. Nad Jaysue is exactly right about the "relaxing exit day" scenario; it is a nice way to end the vacation. This is why we added on at VB (just yesterday in fact::yes:: ).

We have added Vero to the end of our trip for the past 5 summers. It is totally addicting and my kids cannot imagine a trip to WDW without it now. We love the relaxed attitude and having the chance to do absolutely nothing, they like to blame that "need" for nothing on my pushing them too hard in the parks! But anyway, we stay 4-5 nights and it's perfect for us. Enjoy!

Congrats pumpkinboy, it is interesting that you bring this angle up - DW and I were discussing doing the reverse for our March 05 trip - get the kids all prepped up and a detox for DW and I and then off to WDW

Hmmm.......:scratchin

thanks

I think 3 nights (4 days) is a great break at the end of a WDW vacation. I can see an argument for having VB before WDW in order to unwind from "normal life" it does depend on how stressful your "normal life" is.

I'm also in the "before" camp. Somehow the change from the "go-go" atmosphere of WDW can make shifting gears to the slower pace of Vero difficult and it's harder to appreciate Vero. (In other words, it can seem a little boring compared to WDW when it really is so beautiful.) I can see where it's a good place to go and rest after WDW but, for myself, going to Vero first has worked better.

I would stay at least two nights. One night doesn't let you really experience the resort since you'll be checking out shortly after checking-in. 3 nights would let you explore a little more of the area as well. (Of course, weather can also have everything to do with how much you get to see of the resort.)

When I saw your original post heading, "How Many Days at Vero?" I was going to suggest 365! ;)

I think 4-5 nights is perfect, we did the Harborbranch tour this past trip, it was interesting, but the kids were bored! The kids did the un-birthday party, my Ds did sand casting, they both did the Disney Discovery Club, basically 3 hours of babysitting, but even the 11 year old enjoyed it. They played out in the fields across the street. Now that I think of it, there is alot to do, you just have to search it out, we played basket ball, walked the trails to the campfire area across the street, it was very pretty over there. Next trip we want to do the 10 mile bike trip, when we left the resort, we took a right and stayed on that road (I think A1A) all the way up to Melbourne, what a pretty area, barrier islands, several town and state parks, will either rent bikes or do the tour to check it out. Gee, sounds like I may now need a week there!!

We usually go for 5 or 6 nights and find that it isn't enough for us.

We love the beach and everything else there is to do at VB. We spend days just playing on the beach.

Here is a typical week for us at Vero

Sunday-arrive and have brunch in Sonya's. Hit the pool, go down the slide over and over, rent a movie in our room and go to bed.

Monday-breakfast at Bleachers, pool time, light lunch at the pool, activity for the kids, dinner at Shutters, Green Cabin Room for drinks, checkers and relaxation. Then bed.

Tuesday-beach most of the day with umbrella and two chairs, drive into town for lunch at Casey's Place and a Rita's Italian Ice, nap in the room then back to the beach. More time by the pool and then dinner at Sonya's-either rent a movie or spend more time in the Green Cabin room.

Wednesday-activities for the kids after breakfast in the room split with time in the pool, time on the pool slide and time on the pirate ship. Possibly a few rounds of mini golf and a few games of air hockey in the arcade. Another light lucnh by the pool. One of us plays with the kids while the other gets a massage. Dinner at Capt. Hiram's. Possible story time in the lobby or star viewing party on the boardwalk with the resort's telescope.

Thursday-beach again, lunch in town, a few games of bocce ball on the croquet lawn, dinner at Shutters or from room service.

Friday-last full day here, beach, pool, mini golf, arcade, any activities the kids want to do, lunch by the pool, nap in the afternoon with Dinner at Sonya's. Spend most of the evening on the balcony looking and listening to the ocean.

Saturday-breakfast with Goofy and Max, a few trips down the slide, lots of crying and then leave for Michigan.:(

We are spending 10 nights at Vero in the fall and I CAN"T WAIT!

We feel so at home here and the CM's are wonderful!

Floridafam, what kind of place is Casey's Place? DS, 2, has the same name and we'd like to check it out. (We always eat at Casey's Corner in the MK, too!):D

It is the local lunch hang out. It's a NICE walk up place and they have 6 or 7 picnic tables. They have huge hot dogs, great fries, soup, sandwiches that are out of this world-the BLT is the best I've ever had.

I think they've won the award for the best hamburger in VB the last few years.

We always go here at least twice each trip. It is in town on a side street. I can get better directions from my husband if you want them.

You order your food and then wait for them to call your name. A lot of the customers are regulars and the people working there call them by name.

It's very good.::yes::
