How many days would put us at a comfortable pace. Where we can go on everything, see all the shows, shop, eat etc...
There is: Me, DH, DD11, DS8, and maybe BIL25 and SIL25.

We want to do all four parks (obviously!!)
I heard you need:
1 day for AK
2 days for MK
1 day for MGM
2 days for Epcot.
True?
We also want to do both waterparks. Are they both open in Sept/Oct?

Should we have a couple of days for just lazing around the pool, etc..??

This is my first trip, thanks for any tips!!
:cheer2:

How many days can you do. There is sooo much to do at Disney World that 2 weeks wouldn't be enough. You need some time away from the parks. Take a few days off to enjoy your resort, swim, visit other resorts. We typically go 10 days and that is a very comfortable time frame for us. I'd go less days just to be there, but 10 days provides a good mix of parks, relaxation and other fun on property.

As for the parks, you can cover each park in 1 full day. If you want to visit a park a second time (maybe some attractions you want to ride again) then you will need an extra day.

You could probably almost spend a full day at Downtown Disney depending if you like to shop.

I would say your estimation is right on the mark, especially since you have kids (for a party with just adults, usually one day at MK is enough).

Regarding the water parks, in the fall, they usually close one of the two parks for renovation. When I was there last October, Blizzard Beach was closed but Typhoon Lagoon was open.

You are correct on your estimates but keep in mind that when you say one day at mgm to see everything that means being there at opening (usually 9 am)and leaving at closing time which makes for some long days.

The waterparks are both open in Sept but I believe this year Typhoon Lagoon closes late October for refurbishment.

We have a DD11 & DS8...we always spend 8 nights, 9 days in Disney.

We probably could do 7 nights...but we just like to spend 8 nights there & not rush.

We have gone to DW 5 times now. Our trips have ranged from 7-14 days and we have still not seen everything.

Granted we do not go commando style. We are usally in the parks first thing in the morning. Go back for a rest/shower/swim and go back at night.

I agree! If you could do 10 days, go for it! We only do 7, but we have always wanted to do a 10 day stay. Have a great trip!

I do realize that you could spend a month there and still not see everything. Ahhh, wouldn't that be nice to be able to take that much time!! :cloud9:

And I would LOVE to spend a full day shopping at DTD, but can't see that happening with hubby!!!

And because we (Not an invitation for flaming ;) ) are taking the kids out of school, I don't want to take them out for extra days unless we really need them.

I understand the parks are quite far away from each other right? So if you are park-hopping, it could take you like a half an hour to get from one park to another?

Yes, if you go from park to park figure at least an hour killed by the time you get in your car, drive, park and get into the other park.

I was surprised by how big WDW was when I went for my first trip this past December (it does take some commuting time between each park, less time if you have your own car)...We were there for 9 days...we kept busy each day...enjoyed ourselves immensely and missed much. I'm going back in sept for 7 days (lured by free DDP)...and hope to see alot that I missed. A suggestion is really to have everyone choose a couple of must see/dos at each park...then you will see what everyone most wants to see. Don't even try to see it all. It isn't possible and you guys would be exhausted.
