How many days after presentation to decide??

No, we don't want a "my favorite guide thread" , do we? Anyway, I just wanted to know what to expect if I contacted DVC before my tour or once I take the tour.

All the info has been great. Have to go. Time to root for the Phillies? Sixers?

Where are the Flyers?? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I called our guide and asked to have information sent and I received a video but also a letter giving some brief information and a great 68 page book that really outlines the dvc. i am sure it doesn't have every bit of information (for example, it does not tell you that there is a $75 fee to exchange for the world passport collection, etc.), but it does give all of the information for all of the home resorts, the location of all of the world passport collection properties, conceirge collection, etc. It has nice pictures and testimonials. It actually isn't that different from what we received after we told them we wanted to buy. We just received more detailed information. It also included a piece of paper slipped in the front cover pocket telling you what the cost would be depending on amount of points, years, downpayment, etc. It can't hurt to start doing your research now so when you visit Disney you feel like you are making an informed purchase.
Good luck!

We toured DVC at BWV sept 2002--we were upfront from the getgo. Wanted to see what they had to offer. We had a pressure issue with guide 1 and left it like that. Then Aug 2003 we decided to purchase, found out about SSR and requested a new guide. No pressure whatsoever. We had paperwork in Oct 2003 and was done in a very short time. about 2 weeks with fed ex, etc. We were offered the current promotion. I hope that this helps!!

No1HawkFan, Thanks. That's why I'm hesitant to contact DVC until I'm sure I want to purchase thru Disney. The extra years are nice but I haven't seen SSR yet. The one thing I can't stand is a pushy salesman. I guess I'll just keep reading the DIS until August. I might really like SSR but I'll have to wait and see. Thanks again. :wave2:

I don't feel they're pushy at all. I actually took over a year to decide and they sold out BCV and I ended up buying at SSR and picked up 10 years. I worked with the same guide, who was never pushy. I visited him several times over the year and a half till I purchased and he was always a consumate professional and I was never pressured. I'm a Sales Manager by trade and don't put up with bad salespeople. Don't buy for the incentives, buy for your families future vacations! pirate:

I was at Disney last week and took the tour, was impressed with the options. They gave the speil about 3 days but when I told them I was there working they gave us to the end of the month when the current promotion ends.

My guide was really helpful and took the time to call in off hours to accommodate my work.

Now I am just deciding on how many points. With 2 kids 8 and 5 we are looking at 200. Paper work should be here tomorrow.

Natalie ~ WE have the same guide! I am also dealing with her currently.. She also called me yesterday from home with the flu.. We are getting our paperwork started today. Good luck to you :wave2:

It took us a year from when I saw the presentation until we bought. You have to take alot of what your guide/sales person tells you during the presentation with a grain of salt. Ours kept pressuring us saying that he was doing so because previous customers kept telling him that they wished he had been more high-pressure. Rubbish.

Had a similar experience with Jim McCoy.

Began looking into DVC about 3-4 years ago but timing just wasn't right for us. Of course could kick ourselves now since VWL was the current property & it was going for about $73 per point!

But anyway... No pressure, didn't make me feel like I wasted his time with all my questions only to say no... So glad I kept his card!

When I called him in Sept about SSR he made me feel like I'd only talked to him last week. (Yes, we now own at SSR)

He's fabulous.

If I call DVC directly will the person I first talk to be assigned as my guide?

You too Mom Poppins! We are so excited. We have been wanting to do this for so many years.

about a year actually....we owned 2 homes at the time and the prospect of spending about $15,000 on a timeshare wasnt in my plan.....hubby wanted to buy then....the only reason i am glad we did wait was because we were only going to purchase 150 pts.....but after much time on this board and further study we went with 250 pts. and that was a wise decision and also we had sold 1 of the homes by then......we love DVC and own at BWV......

Called DVC today and I am awaiting info papers by FEDEX!! My guide was great and explained that I would just need the deposit on or before the 28th for the current incentive to remain in effect. No pressure. Also said they always have some sort of incentive. I wonder what it will be in March??? :teeth: ;) :confused3
