How many children did you want vs How many did you have?

Wanted two...have two. Originally I wanted a girl in there, but I have two sons and I wouldn't change it for anything!

Congratulations, Katerkat. Pregnancy and the first two years of your baby's life goes so quickly! So even in the yucky part, try to enjoy it!

I always wanted 3 or 4 kids. I have 3 boys and I think I'm done. DH would like another, but I'm not up for having 4 boys. I have enough testosterone in my house, thank you!

I finally got a picture in my signature. These are my 3 boys :D

When I was young I wanted 10 children, then 5, then 2-3. As an adult, I wanted 3 girls. I ended up with 4 children--1 girl (thought I was on my way to the three girls...) and 3 boys.

We always talked about having 3. We have two, a boy and a girl, twenty months apart.

I'm content and really don't want another. DH would like one more but I've got all I can handle!;)

Never had an idea on how many I wanted but I know my house now is too quiet...

Started with 3- only got to bring one home from the hospital added my fiancee/husbands son to the mix in 97 added Nicki in 98 then lost my 2 girls to heaven so now just down to Jake- Add a few foster kids in the mix we had hoped to adopt and 5 miscarriges my house is too quiet! Right now I'm just crossing my fingers for one whether by adoption or birth once that happens I'll cross my fingers again and hopefully again-

Wanted 4, got started late and have two: DS is almost 8, and DD just turned 4. It's probably better this way, I can afford to give them a little more and put them through college. Would've been much harder with 4 kids.

Wanted six when i was growing up. Wanted four when I met DH (who wanted none, then one, then two). We now have two, onw daughter who is 3.5, and one darling son who was stillborn. God willing we'll have a third, and I'd still love to have a fourth.

PS - Congrats KaterKat!!!!!

God Blessed me with what I asked for a Boy11 and a Girl15:D

I wanted 4 kids. Until I had them, now I'm happy with two.

I think I wanted five growing up. I always told my mom I'd adopt. Well, after years of trying, we did adopt DD at birth. Six years later, we thought we'd add one more girl to our family. Well, that girl came with our bonus son. We adopted the last two from Russia. We are done at three. (There was a time when I would have adopted one or two more, but DH DEFINITELY would not)

We want two, then if we have two of the same gender, we'll talk about a third.

Right now I'm disliking pregnancy, so we'll see about a second! :p

Hooray! Congratulations Katerkat! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

OT, but I'm curious--did your cats know you were pregnant before you did? Ours always have! And they were stuck to me like flypaper the whole 9 months! And jsut a warning--I had one who would watch me nurse like he was looking for his "big opening"--it would start to get scary!

Seriously, congratulations. I had miserable pregnancies but once the kid was out, I was great. And most of our cats have really loved the babies.

So sorry to hear about how many people on here have lost babies--I'm going out to hug my three (mostly) angels now.

:o Aw, thanks everyone! The cats really haven't been acting all that different. I think they're a little too self-centered to notice!

OOOOOOHHHHHH trust me, they WILL notice... just wait....

Scratchy used to get in Dierdre's crib with her. He'd sleep at one end, she'd be at the other. It was a great arrangement until Dierdre learned to move!!!! The first time she grabbed him he was STUNNED!!! She'd put his paw in her mouth and he'd put her hand in his until she let go. They're best friends to this day!

I've always thought I'd like 3. Have one DD2 now and expecting DS in October. DH says we should stop at two and considering I don't do pregnancy that well, that may be a good idea. I'm not willing to rule out trying for number 3 just yet though!

I have one healthy wonderful boy but would love to have one more. I had a miscarriage before him and an ectopic after him. We are just thankful that he's a healthy kid.

Tinks--my son sucked his middle two fingers too. But he usually had the right hand at his mouth and his left hand would rub his right ear. He said that's how he got his energy back when he was tired.

Growing up I always wanted tons of kids but am very content with my three boys.:D

When we went through our premarital counseling, my DH wanted four. I wanted two. We agreed on two, with a third possible. About 6 months after our daughter was born he came up to me and said "I'm done. Are you done?" I responded with "I'm done!" Like some other posters I do not do pregnancy well (10 weeks straight of morning sickness) and a very difficult labor and delivery (36 hours).

We caught a lot of grief and much advice from friends and family about how we were "depriving" our daughter or how she would certainly be a brat being an only. My responses were that there are pros and cons to whatever number of children you have; children being brats is a function of parenting-not how many siblings you have, and each husband and wife need to decide themselves what is best for them and their families.

Our DD is a joy, even now as a teenager!

I don't remember how many children I wanted to have, but I knew I wanted lots! :sunny: After three miscarriages and two high risk pregnancies, I have been blessed with two daughters! :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Unfortunately, I cannot have anymore children so I feel very fortunate to have my daughters!
